CHAPTER 172: CHAPTER 172 GRAND PROPOSAL

"What secrets were hidden between them?"

Just then, Tatiana spoke. "Keep what you heard just now to yourself. If another person finds out, I won’t spare you."

I turned around, took off my earphones, and asked in confusion, "Ms. Wilson, did you call me just now?"

She furrowed her brows. "You didn’t hear our conversation just now?"

I shook my head. "No, I was listening to music with my earphones on."

I appreciated my quick thinking.

Tatiana relaxed her brows. "I don’t care if you really didn’t hear it or not. Remember, keep the secret."

I nodded with a smile. "Ms. Wilson, the medicine is running out. I’ll go call the nurse."

Leaving the ward, I sighed, disappointed that I didn’t hear anything useful this time.

At 8 p.m., I drove Tatiana home.

She tossed me the keys. "Come pick me up at 7 a.m. tomorrow."

I nodded and drove off in the Range Rover.

Passing by a bank, I stopped the car, took out the card Tatiana had given me, and checked the balance. There were thirty thousand dollars on that card!

Damn, she was so generous. I liked it!

After getting home, I took a shower, changed into fresh clothes, and wore a mask.

We had agreed to meet at ten o’clock. This time, I didn’t plan on going to the Hilton Hotel. It wasn’t good to always let her foot the bill.

I searched online and found the Peninsula Hotel, with standards above the Hilton Hotel in terms of luxury.

I booked a room online—the noble sea view room—for five thousand dollars a night.

After all, the presidential suite that cost one hundred thousand dollars was too expensive.

I messaged her. "Change of plans. We’re going to the Peninsula Hotel this time. The room is booked, waiting for you!"

She replied almost instantly, "Oh, what about the room I booked?"

"Keep it. We’ll go there next time."

She sent a shy emoji. "Okay!"

I hailed a taxi and arrived at the Peninsula Hotel.

After paying for the room, I went straight to the twentieth floor.

There was a dedicated female attendant who accompanied me, opened the door, and said, "Sir, if you need anything, feel free to ask me. From now on, I am your 24-hour personal butler and can assist you with anything."

Her eyes sparkled. I thought even if I asked her to stay with me now, she probably wouldn’t refuse.

I nodded. "Okay."

Closing the door, I found the room extravagantly decorated, with an oversized bathtub, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a fridge stocked with champagne bottles priced at three to four hundred dollars each, all complimentary.

The drinks were all imported, ranging from tens to hundreds of dollars.

I called the private butler and asked her to prepare roses, candles, and balloons as quickly as possible to set up a romantic scene.

At 9:30 p.m., everything was set up like a grand proposal scene.

"Sir, are you satisfied?"

I handed her a wad of cash. "I’m very satisfied!"

The female attendant’s eyes lit up with surprise. "Thank you, sir."

After everything was done, Jessica Lawrence messaged me. "Darling, I’m here. Which room?"

I sent her the room number, turned off all the lights in the room, and waited quietly for her arrival.

A few minutes later, there was a knock on the door. Jessica’s voice came from outside. "Darling, it’s me!"

I opened the door and quickly covered her eyes. "Don’t speak. Follow me. I have something to show you!"

Jessica obediently said. "Okay, I’ll follow you."

Closing the door, I led her to a large heart made of rose petals, then let go of her hand. "You can open your eyes now," I said.

Jessica exclaimed in surprise, looking at the romantic scene in the room, covering her mouth in astonishment. What surprised me the most was that she wasn’t wearing a mask this time!

This was a good sign, meaning she was letting go of her guard against me.

"Darling, did you prepare all this?"

I nodded. "Yes, I came over in the afternoon and set it up all by myself!"

Anyway, I was wearing a mask, and she couldn’t see my facial expressions.

She was so touched that she wanted to hug me, but I quickly stopped her. Then, under her grateful gaze, I knelt on one knee and took out a red box.

"Troy, you..."

"Jessica, don’t speak. Let me talk."

"Today marks the thirtieth day since we met. Before I met you, I never believed in love. I used to think that being together was boring and marriage was nothing but a transaction. But after I met you, I realized how wrong I was." I said in a magnetic voice, "After I met you, I tasted the feeling of yearning day and night. I couldn’t sleep for many days. I thought I might be sick. It’s the lovesickness that can’t be cured. This disease can only be cured by being with you!"

I lowered myself, knowing that to win over a woman with a failed marriage and a history of abuse, I had to minimize her inner fears, even in a confession.

"I dare not ask for too much. I beg you to cure me, okay? In return, I will protect you for a lifetime!" I added.

Everyone longed to be needed.

Jessica covered her mouth, tears silently falling.

"Please pity me." I opened the box. Inside was a ring, but not a diamond ring.

In my heart, only Kristina Monroe and Marry deserved diamond rings.

Although it was not a diamond ring, a Bulgari ring was still expensive, costing eight thousand dollars!

"Will you be my girlfriend?" I pleaded.

Of course, it was not an engagement ring.

Jessica’s voice trembled. "Yes."

She then reached out her right hand, and I put the ring on her ring finger. Although it should have been on the middle finger, putting it on the ring finger would have shown her my determination.

Putting it on the middle finger signified being in love, while putting it on the ring finger signified being in a marital relationship.

Jessica accepted. She excitedly hugged me, pushing me down to the ground, her red lips fiery, her emotions like kindling. I felt myself ignited as well.

She was already overwhelmed by emotions, her soft hands constantly fumbling.

I thought, ’If we take off our clothes, wouldn’t everything be exposed?’

I still needed to remove the gauze from my hands.

I grabbed her hand and said with difficulty, "Jessica, I have prepared a candlelit dinner. Shall we have a drink first?"

Her cheeks were slightly red, her lips slightly panting. The breath she exhaled was dizzying to me.

"Okay." She nodded and got up from me.
