CHAPTER 115: CHAPTER 115: BECAUSE OF LOVE

Shannon Quinn was a bit angry, frowning with a hint of sarcasm, she asked him, "Are you planning to get plastic surgery before seeing me again? Do you actually think of me as your wife?!"

Vincent Rhodes took a deep breath, reached out to remove his tie, and said lightly, "I’m grateful that you see me as your husband. In fact, since we got married, I haven’t done anything for you, and I owe you an apology."

"Don’t change the subject!"

Vincent didn’t respond, but instead picked up the black tie in his hand and covered her eyes, saying, "Sorry, not yet."

Shannon Quinn was a bit annoyed but didn’t dare to oppose his actions. She just let him cover her eyes with the tie, and he tied it behind her head.

She heard the sound of metal dropping to the floor, it should be his mask.

Vincent gently laid her body down flat on the bed, and kissed her softly through the tie, inch by inch, moving down from her brow, following the bridge of her nose, planting gentle butterfly kisses on her lips.

Shannon made no movement, only silent tears slid down, soaking into the tie, fading away, leaving no trace of her tears.

"Have you changed your mind about what you said in the text?"

Shannon Quinn slightly curled her lips in a bitter mockery, asking him, "Do you care about me? Do you care... about the child in my belly?"

Vincent paused before saying, "I care."

Because he felt he wasn’t worthy of admitting it, what he said about caring didn’t have any actual actions to make her feel his concern, so to her, it might just seem like empty words.

He was quite afraid of her having such a misunderstanding in her heart.

As expected, she immediately responded, "But I don’t feel it."

"I know you have a lot of doubts in your heart now, and I will slowly explain it all to you later."

"Do you think we have a future?"

Vincent’s whole body stiffened for a moment. He had faced many storms and waves, but at this moment, Shannon Quinn’s words stirred a wave in his heart.

She looked calm, like a kind of indifference after seeing through everything, without movement or expression, even her tone was calm: "Grandfather said either abort the child or divorce you. I haven’t decided, I want to hear your opinion, but then I thought, whether it’s the child or me, maybe you don’t care, whichever choice it is for you doesn’t matter?"

"I’ve said it, once the child is born, I’ll raise it as my own." Vincent said these words and felt quite shameless, as if he was some kind of benefactor to her, talking about forgiveness, when in reality, he’s the one who wronged her.

Shannon Quinn took a deep breath, initially feeling how merciful this decision was for her, but later realizing that except for expressing this attitude, there was no action on his part that aligned with this declaration, he seemed to never care about her matters, let alone the child in her belly that didn’t belong to him.

With her eyes covered, she pointed with memory towards the bag on the nightstand, saying, "Inside the bag is an envelope, open it and take a look."

Vincent hesitated with confusion, followed the direction of her finger, and picked up her bag. Once opened, he saw an envelope.

Opening it, inside were several sheets of different styles of stationery along with a few photos.

They were the threatening letters sent to Shannon Quinn by those people.

When Vincent saw the contents of the letters and the photos, he furrowed his eyebrows and asked her, "Who did this?"

"This is my current situation, being cursed by everyone as a faithless woman."

"Is it because of these people that you considered aborting the child?"

"Otherwise? Do you want the child to be born and face these?"

Although Shannon Quinn’s eyes were covered, the disappointment in her voice was evident.

Even the strongest heart may not be able to completely ignore such matters, let alone in her understanding, she indeed did something to wrong him, which was the crux of her heart.

"I was thinking, if you only married me because you were afraid no one else would, then you could slowly adjust now, once you restore to normal, there will be plenty who want to marry you."

"So you want a divorce from me?"

Shannon Quinn hesitated for two seconds, nodded slightly, "I know you spent a lot on marrying me at that time, I can earn money and slowly repay you in the future."

Vincent threw the things in his hand into the trash can by the bed. Leaning down, his hand fell on Shannon Quinn’s waist, making her whole body shiver with his touch, her body grew stiff, took a deep breath, her chest heaving dramatically with the motion.

His breath brushed against her ear, the hoarse voice turned somewhat suggestive: "What if I married you because I liked you?"

Shannon Quinn was stunned suddenly, he liked her?

Such a possibility she never even considered.

Because prior to their marriage, they had no interaction, and in the two years after marriage, they hadn’t even met, let alone talk of likes or dislikes.

Vincent didn’t give her time to think, and said directly, "Calmly give birth to the child, I will handle the rest."

Shannon swallowed, there were doubts in her heart, but internally she chose more to believe him.

After that, neither of them spoke, nor was there any further action.

Shannon Quinn could feel him still slightly pressing on her, not putting the whole weight of his body down, just a faint touch against her body.

They remained silent for about ten seconds before Shannon bent her knee slightly trying to move, inadvertently touching something, hearing him let out a soft muffled groan, she instantly froze, not daring to move again.

However, she grew curious, wanting to check what the current situation was, subconsciously reaching her hand to the tie on her face trying to lift it, only to be thwarted by him.

He grabbed both of her wrists with one hand, pulling them over her head, cutting off her breath before she could react.

Unlike the butterfly kisses earlier, now he came fiercely, not giving her any room to dodge.

Shannon’s eyes widened, but she could only see a bit of light filtering in through the gaps.

She was surprised because she felt something hard against her thigh, radiating a scorching heat...

Wasn’t it said... he didn’t have that ability? How could he have a reaction?

His hand slipped through her skirt, unabatedly landing on her waist, rapidly moving up.

Shannon, as if electrocuted, felt a wave of numbness course through her, instantly regaining her senses, she pushed him away with her hands, whispered with a flushed face: "...You can’t do this during pregnancy."

Vincent frowned, frustrated yet finding his composure, he took a deep breath, sat up, pulled her clothing down, covered her with the blanket, and then got off the bed, picked up the mask from the floor and directly went to the bathroom.
