My Mysterious Hidden Husband
Chapter 132: Sean Fairchild
CHAPTER 132: CHAPTER 132: SEAN FAIRCHILD
"Is Sean Fairchild here today?" Vincent Rhodes asked.
The person in charge of hosting replied, "Yes, Mr. Fairchild will be on stage later. He’s preparing backstage right now and will personally greet you both later."
Vincent Rhodes nodded, indicating he understood.
"Then I’ll go for now. Call me if you need anything."
Shannon Quinn found the name Sean Fairchild somewhat familiar because the surname Fairchild is quite rare and leaves an impression. She remembered hearing this name on some program.
Seeing Vincent Rhodes’ gaze focused on the theater stage straight ahead, Shannon Quinn feared that asking too many questions might make her seem ignorant, so she secretly pulled out her phone and searched the name "Sean Fairchild" online.
Sure enough, it was the guy she’d seen on a TV show.
She remembered seeing Sean Fairchild on a variety show before. His handsome appearance and unique aura had won him many female fans in the entertainment industry. Some music shows even invited him to be a mentor, and he held a certain status in the field of theater.
The information described him as the fourth-generation successor of the Fairchild school, a lead singer with classical training, having performed classic operatic roles on shows. His handsome looks and singing style were highly praised.
In private, he was known to be modest and low-key, likely due to his upbringing in a theatrical family. His elegant demeanor couldn’t be compared with ordinary people.
But how did Vincent Rhodes know Sean Fairchild? They seemed like two people from completely different worlds.
While Shannon Quinn was processing all this information, the scene on the theater stage changed.
However, with no understanding of theater, she was somewhat confused by what she was watching.
"The play ’Gathering of Heroes,’ the actor playing the role of Julius Chaucer is who we are looking for," Vincent Rhodes volunteered.
Shannon Quinn responded with an "Oh" and said curiously, "I didn’t expect you to know so much about this."
He didn’t respond, and she couldn’t discern his expression behind the mask, but Shannon Quinn had a feeling that there must be a story there.
Shannon Quinn calmed herself to enjoy the performance, yet without any foundational knowledge, she couldn’t understand the lyrics. Nonetheless, she got a general idea of the story and focused most of her attention on the actors’ costumes.
As the performance ended, Shannon Quinn still felt unsatisfied. Listening to the enthusiastic applause around her, she also joined in clapping.
Afterward, she glanced at Vincent Rhodes, inexplicably smiling.
"What are you laughing at?" Vincent Rhodes turned his head, puzzled, and asked her.
Shannon Quinn shook her head and said, "I just didn’t imagine you’d have such hobbies."
"There are many things you can’t imagine."
Shannon Quinn giggled without saying anything further, glanced at the teacup on the table, picked it up, and took a small sip.
Taking advantage of the free time, she took a few photos with her phone. She felt that not only the actors on the stage but also every corner of this place was a source of inspiration.
Being here felt like her entire mindset had changed, as if only those who had been there could understand that seemingly leisurely yet somewhat overwhelming experience.
"Mr. Rhodes? How come you have time to watch the play today?" A man’s voice came from behind, carrying a comfortable Beijing accent.
Shannon Quinn turned her head and saw a face she recognized from TV.
Earlier, he had heavy makeup on stage. If Vincent Rhodes hadn’t said the actor playing Julius Chaucer was Sean Fairchild, she might not have recognized him.
Now, with the makeup removed, his fair and exquisite features, long straight black hair, Shannon Quinn, as a woman, felt a bit envious.
The theatrical costume had been replaced by a sleek gray-white suit, his appearance could be described as handsome, but Sean Fairchild’s manner wasn’t effeminate at all, rather like the graceful gentlemen seen in novels and comics.
Sean Fairchild sat down on the other side of Vincent Rhodes, looked at Shannon Quinn, nodded politely with a smile, and asked, "Is this Mrs. Rhodes? Seeing is believing; she’s indeed beautiful and gentle."
Vincent Rhodes glanced at Shannon Quinn; he knew very well whether she was beautiful or not, and directly got to the point with Sean Fairchild, saying, "She came over to ask you about something."
Sean Fairchild turned to Shannon Quinn and asked, "What can I help you with, sister-in-law?"
Shannon Quinn briefly explained her purpose for coming. Due to time constraints, Sean Fairchild only briefly gave her a basic introduction to the topic, they exchanged contact information and agreed on a later date for him to take Shannon Quinn to a friend’s exhibit to learn about theatrical costumes.
Afterward, Sean Fairchild and Vincent Rhodes chatted for a bit, and it seemed like they’d known each other for a long time, having a deep relationship.
Shannon Quinn thought that Sean Fairchild should know about Vincent Rhodes, maybe she could find out something from him in the future.
Sean Fairchild had plans in the afternoon, so he said they’d discuss the appointment to meet in detail next time with Shannon Quinn.
Considering Vincent Rhodes’ leg that couldn’t walk for long, after leaving the theater, they didn’t go anywhere else but headed straight home.
Shannon Quinn watered the flowers on the balcony, initially thinking about what to eat later and where to go tomorrow.
Then Vincent Rhodes received a call and told her he had to leave immediately for an urgent matter.
Shannon Quinn hid the disappointment in her eyes and asked him, "...You’re not staying for dinner?"
Vincent Rhodes took a deep breath, his voice slightly hoarse, and said, "No, I’m leaving right away."
Silence.
Both seemed to have something to say but knew that speaking those words would be futile and wouldn’t change anything.
Shannon Quinn walked over to get the crutches leaning against the sofa, handed them to him, and looked at him without saying a word.
Vincent Rhodes reached for the crutches, stood up from the sofa, looked down at her, and only said, "Take care of yourself."
"Okay." She replied quietly.
Vincent Rhodes shifted his gaze and walked to the door. She followed him and squatted to help him put on his shoes, asking, "Should I see you off?"
"Someone’s coming to pick me up. It’s cold outside; don’t go out."
Shannon Quinn nodded but still supported him all the way to the elevator.
He was inside the elevator, and she stood at the elevator door, reluctantly saying, "Be careful on the road."
"Okay."
Shannon Quinn stepped back, but she didn’t leave, and he didn’t close the elevator door.
However, the elevator door, having no more obstructions, automatically closed after a few seconds.
The sight of each other was gradually blocked by the elevator door. Just before it fully closed, Shannon Quinn reached out to stop it, and the door instantly reversed from closing to opening.
She took two steps forward to Vincent Rhodes, lifted herself on tiptoe and gave his side face a quick peck.
To be accurate, it was on the slightly cold mask on his face.
Vincent Rhodes hadn’t expected her to do that, and he was momentarily stunned, seeing the misty look in her eyes but unable to voice words to make him stay.
When her tears were about to fall, she turned around to leave, but Vincent Rhodes grabbed her wrist and pulled her back, facing him.
"Close your eyes," he said.
