CHAPTER 154: CHAPTER 154: VINCENT IS IN TROUBLE

"What did Grandpa say to you?" As soon as Shannon Quinn walked out of the study, Simon Rhodes, who had been uneasy about her being alone with Shane Royale, came forward to ask.

Shannon Quinn lowered her eyes and thought for half a second, then replied, "Simon, can you convey a message to Vincent Rhodes for me?"

Seeing Shannon’s expression, Simon had a bad feeling.

"Please tell him that I can have the child, but I want to divorce him. The child will be with me in the future; otherwise, I won’t have this child for now."

"Shannon..."

"Simon, you don’t need to persuade me anymore. I’ve already thought through these issues. You just need to help me convey this to him."

Simon swallowed back the words that were on the tip of his tongue and nodded, "I will tell him... but have you thought about it, the child might need a complete family?"

Shannon smiled and said, "Is this complete now? I just want the child to have a good environment to grow up in after being born. I don’t want it to grow up amidst all these disturbances. If I can’t achieve that, I’d rather not let him come into this world to face such a bad scene."

From her perspective, Simon could understand her feelings and thoughts: "I’ll convey it for you, stay for a meal here? I’ll take you over later."

"No need, I..."

Before Shannon could finish speaking, the phone in Simon’s pocket rang. He glanced apologetically at Shannon and turned slightly to answer the call.

Not knowing what it was about, his face changed, and his brow furrowed: "What? What’s the situation?"

From his tone, it was clear he was anxious, but it was unclear what the other side said.

"Okay, I’ll go over immediately."

After hanging up, Simon looked at Shannon with a complex expression, opened his mouth as if to speak but stopped, and instead called the driver: "Take the Second Young Madam back first."

Shannon didn’t know what had happened, but didn’t ask, and left the Rhodes Family house.

Simon pushed open the study door, seeing Shane Royale sitting on the couch with a worried look, seemingly thinking about something.

"Grandpa, something happened to Vincent."

The dazed Shane Royale suddenly panicked, urgently asking: "What happened?!"

"There was an accident during a mission, he’s undergoing emergency treatment now, I heard..." Simon couldn’t bear to continue.

"So many people couldn’t protect just one?!"

"Grandpa, you know how Vincent is, he wouldn’t let his brothers put themselves in danger for him. He always rushes to the front in dangerous situations. I’ll go over to check things out first, I’ll call you if there’s any news."

Shane Royale took a deep breath. If it weren’t for his mobility issues, he would probably be so worried he’d go with Simon right away.

Shannon absent-mindedly returned home, feeling somewhat dazed these days, her mind a mess, unsure of what she was even thinking.

The doctor said she’s a bit anxious and needed to adjust her emotions properly, as many cases of prenatal depression are endured this way.

She never thought she would be linked to depression because she had made it through such tough times before, but ever since she got pregnant, she’s been worried a lot, even now...

She doesn’t know if Simon communicated her words, nor what decision Vincent might make. Perhaps he won’t consider her feelings at all, aiming to keep the child in the Rhodes Family after birth, regardless of her stay.

Simon always says Vincent cares about her, which might not be untrue since she remembers that when the car was about to hit her, he pushed her away, almost losing his life.

But if it comes to choosing between her and the child, naturally, he would choose the child.

Actually, she thought in her heart, divorce and have the child; if he still wants to come back for her after being discharged, they could remarry. By then, at least they could have a strong comeback against rumors and gossip, so the child wouldn’t have to endure insults even she couldn’t stand.

Two days later, there was still no response from Vincent, unclear about his attitude at all.

Erin Bishop returned and invited her for a meal.

Shannon hadn’t gone out for a while, and she wanted to relax a bit, but she didn’t tell Erin about Vincent and Landon Sutton being the same person.

Because she also knew, for Vincent, it might not just be a matter of identity; otherwise, he wouldn’t have hidden it from her for so long.

During the meal, Shannon seldom talked about herself and hid her emotions well, so Erin didn’t notice anything strange about her.

"Shannon, did he spend New Year’s with you?"

Shannon hesitated for a moment, fearing Erin might get suspicious and ask more questions, so she smiled, nodded, and said, "He called."

"He didn’t come back?"

"No."

"Ah, when will these days of yours have an end? The child is almost due, and he’s still like this. Won’t you have to care for the child alone in the future?"

Shannon just smiled, bowed her head, and continued eating without speaking.

Erin sighed and suddenly saw two people walking in at the restaurant entrance, frowning curiously, she asked Shannon, "Shannon, look over there, isn’t that Sheila Yardley’s boyfriend? Isn’t the one beside him Lynn Kendall?"

Shannon turned to look; it was indeed Ryder Griffin and Lynn Kendall. Why were the two of them together?

But thinking about how Ryder and Sheila seemed to have always had a good relationship, she thought, "Maybe it’s a work-related matter? Sheila mentioned before that Lynn went to Ryder’s studio to discuss things."

"What work-related matter? Lynn has her arm linked with that guy! From what I see, Lynn is up to something. That guy couldn’t resist temptation and might be messing around behind Sheila’s back."

Erin’s words, although somewhat unpleasant, might be closest to the truth.

Shannon watched as the two went straight to the second floor, appearing somewhat intimate, yet she was unwilling to believe such facts, knowing how devastating it could be for Sheila.

Lynn had mentioned she would get back at Sheila in the past. Could this be her way?!

"From what I see, few men are any good. That guy looks so honest, yet he’s two-faced, saying one thing while doing another."

On the way back, Shannon felt uneasy and went to the hospital.

During the holiday, Sheila spent most of her time in the hospital with Catherine Yardley.

When they arrived, Catherine was asleep, and Sheila was sitting in a chair by the bedside, staring at her phone absentmindedly, clearly having something on her mind.

"Sheila." Shannon called her softly, causing Sheila to snap out of it, put away her phone hurriedly, and greet them with a smile: "Shannon, Rona, what brings you here?"

Shannon glanced at the sleeping Catherine, stepped out of the ward, and beckoned Sheila over.

Confused, Sheila followed out, gently closing the door behind her: "What’s up, Shannon?"

Shannon got straight to the point and asked her, "Did you and Ryder have a fight?"
