My Mysterious Hidden Husband
Chapter 207: Pregnant
CHAPTER 207: CHAPTER 207: PREGNANT
Sheila Yardley no longer antagonized Caleb Grant. He locked her at home for two days more, watching her eat obediently every day. Only on the third day did he permit her to go out for work, yet still, he had someone follow all the way.
Everything seemed to be the same as before, except Sheila Yardley wouldn’t manage any house chores after returning to the villa. She wouldn’t tidy up her room either and would even intentionally make it messy. Every morning, her clothes were strewn about while changing, but by the time she returned at night, all the clothes would be neatly hung in the wardrobe.
The two had little communication since then. Caleb Grant thought she should be given time to adapt, so he didn’t force her to do anything.
Until half a month later.
Sheila Yardley realized her period was late, and suddenly remembered something.
After work, she went to the pharmacy to buy a pregnancy test. Looking at the two red lines on the test, her mind felt like it was struck by lightning, leaving it blank.
Hearing a noise by the door, she immediately threw the pregnancy test into the trash can, covering it with some tissues.
As she opened the bathroom door, Caleb Grant stood there just about to knock.
She glanced at him, concealing her guilty conscience.
Caleb Grant scrutinized her with his eyes, asking, "Sick?"
Sheila Yardley’s back stiffened as she stared at him in confusion.
Caleb Grant explained, "They said you went to the pharmacy this afternoon."
"...Bought some cold medicine."
"Where are you feeling unwell?"
She casually made up an excuse, "Dizzy," then bypassed Caleb Grant, heading toward the desk.
Caleb Grant glanced inside the bathroom, then turned around asking her, "Want to go to the hospital?"
"No need."
Caleb Grant hesitated a moment, seeing that she was about to start working at her desk, he then left.
Upon hearing the door close, Sheila Yardley breathed a sigh of relief.
Yet her heart remained restless, what to do with the baby in her belly?
Naturally, she wouldn’t give birth, but if she went to the hospital for an abortion, Caleb Grant would definitely find out.
She instantly opened her phone’s browser, searching information about medical abortion.
If she went to the pharmacy again, and it reached Caleb Grant’s ears, he would likely become suspicious.
With thoughts conflicting, Sheila Yardley bought the medication online, having it delivered to the company.
She saw in the related recommendations that there were many potential side effects of medical abortion, including severe ones that could lead to heavy bleeding or even be fatal.
Having no experience in this matter and not daring to go to the hospital, her heart was panic-stricken, unable to sleep all night.
Early the next morning, Caleb Grant brought hot porridge to the bedside, asking her, "Feeling better?"
Sheila Yardley nodded perfunctorily, uncovering herself and getting out of bed, intending to go to the bathroom. But Caleb Grant grabbed her arm, pulling her in front of him, embracing her from behind.
Sheila Yardley stiffened, planning to push him away. But then she suddenly remembered a warning she had read last night on the web about pregnancy.
Having sex during early pregnancy can easily lead to miscarriage.
If there were signs of miscarriage, it might be safer to get an abortion procedure at the hospital. Also, it would be his mistake, not hers if anything went wrong.
Thinking this way, Sheila Yardley just stood still, feeling his breath on her neck.
She furrowed her brows tightly, not liking such contact with him.
"What’s wrong?" He didn’t make any further moves, instead he asked her in confusion.
For a moment, Sheila Yardley didn’t understand the meaning behind his words, then heard him add, "Why suddenly cooperating like this?"
Sheila Yardley pondered briefly and said, "Anyway, there’s no resisting, right?"
"This is not like you." With her stubborn personality, this kind of easy compromise surprised him.
He turned her around, Sheila Yardley met his gaze then looked down, afraid her disguise and guilty conscience couldn’t escape his eyes.
"Are you hiding something from me?" he asked.
"There are people following me twenty-four hours, what can I hide from you?"
"Better that way."
The two laid on the bed; his movements were gentler than before, yet Sheila Yardley still felt repulsed in her heart.
She took a deep breath, closing her eyes, fearing whether things would go as she planned.
She also thought perhaps telling him truthfully, he might immediately arrange her to have the procedure at a hospital, after all, to him she is but a fresh toy, and the child may also be a burden.
"...Wait."
Caleb Grant raised himself up looking at her.
Sheila Yardley pressed her lips together, gazing into his eyes but couldn’t fathom his thoughts. What if he asks her to keep the child? So she decided not to take that risk.
"Never mind, continue..."
Caleb Grant furrowed his brow, thinking she seemed odd today. He withdrew his hand, stood up and fastened his recently undone belt, tidying his clothes back to a presentable state.
Sheila Yardley pulled the thin blanket beside her to cover her body, sitting on the bed somewhat puzzled while looking at him.
While adjusting his tie, he said, "Since you’re unwilling, I won’t force you. I’ll wait until you’re willing."
He picked up his suit jacket by the bed, walking out the door saying, "Drink the porridge while it’s still warm."
Watching him leave, Sheila Yardley inexplicably breathed a sigh of relief.
She arrived at the company, constantly waiting for the delivery.
She carefully chose a local store so it could be delivered today.
"Knock knock—" Aidan Lockwood knocked on the office door. Sheila Yardley’s office wasn’t private; there were other colleagues inside. Aidan Lockwood said to them, "Elaine, come to my office for a bit."
The whole day, Sheila Yardley was somewhat out of sorts. Only then did she regain focus, immediately heading to Aidan Lockwood’s office.
Originally thinking it was a work matter, until she saw Aidan Lockwood holding a delivery box.
"Just happened to pick up your delivery downstairs, brought it to you."
"...Thank you." Sheila Yardley walked over, reaching to take the box.
She was worried whether the delivery box’s information had given away anything, when Aidan Lockwood said, "If I remember correctly, this medicine seems to be for abortion?"
Sheila Yardley’s back stiffened, looking at the drug name printed on the box, too guilty to speak.
However, Aidan Lockwood didn’t ask why she was pregnant or whose child it was, just saying, "Did you get checked at the hospital? These matters are safer at the hospital."
Sheila Yardley pressed her lips, merely shaking her head.
"It’s not something shameful, your health is the priority, abortion isn’t easier than giving birth. I’ll accompany you to the hospital."
"...Cannot go to the hospital."
"Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone. I have friends at the hospital, who will ensure your privacy."
