CHAPTER 222: CHAPTER 222: NOT CLOSE

Shannon Quinn glanced at Sylvie Pierce twice and found her somewhat familiar, as if they had cooperated before, but she didn’t have a deep impression.

Sylvie Pierce stood up and said with a generous smile, "I’ve always heard my mentor praise you, and I’ve read your magazine before. I really like your work."

Shannon Quinn responded with a polite smile, "Thank you."

Sylvie Pierce looked at Leo, then back at Shannon Quinn and Landon Sutton, and asked somewhat puzzled, "Do Miss Quinn and Mr. Sutton know each other as well?"

Shannon Quinn glanced at Landon Sutton, who was also looking at her with a half-smile.

After a silent two seconds, she responded with a slight smile, "Not really."

"Oh, I saw your kid getting along well with Mr. Sutton, so I thought you might know each other."

Shannon Quinn simply explained with a smile, "Yesterday on the cruise, my son played with Mr. Sutton for a while."

After speaking, Shannon Quinn waved at Leo and said, "Come on Leo, let’s go sit over there."

"Since we all know each other, why not sit down and eat together," Sylvie Pierce warmly invited.

Leo’s little brain turned, and he chimed in, "Yeah mom, let’s eat with Uncle Sutton."

Shannon Quinn maintained a graceful smile, reached out to hold Leo’s hand directly, and said, "Be good, let’s go sit over there."

She certainly didn’t want to cause trouble or interrupt their romantic conversation.

Leo reluctantly stood up, holding Shannon Quinn’s hand and standing beside her. He glanced at Sylvie Pierce and asked Landon Sutton like a little gossip reporter, "Uncle, who is this lady?"

Before Landon Sutton could answer, Shannon Quinn reprimanded Leo first, "Children shouldn’t butt into adult matters, let’s go."

"Miss Quinn, let’s have a meal together next time," Sylvie Pierce smiled and politely said.

Shannon Quinn responded politely with "Sure."

Landon Sutton maintained a neutral smile, glancing occasionally in Shannon Quinn’s direction during the meal.

Sylvie Pierce noticed Landon Sutton’s gaze but didn’t think much about any intrigue between him and Shannon Quinn. She simply said with a smile, "You like children, don’t you?"

Landon Sutton came back to his senses, glanced at Sylvie Pierce, and instead of directly answering, asked, "Do you think that little boy is cute?"

"Yes, he’s cute. He seems quite smart, and I think he looks a lot like you did when you were young, so at first, I thought he might be a relative. But I’m not good with faces, and besides, all children look somewhat similar at that age."

Landon Sutton ate a bite of the dish in front of him, and Sylvie Pierce said, "Now that you’ve retired, you’re at the age to get married and start a family. If you like children, you should hurry and find someone to marry."

"I actually would like to marry soon."

"What’s wrong? Haven’t met the right girl? But you are indeed a bit hard to find; your conditions are too good, and ordinary people can’t match you. If you randomly pick someone unknown, you risk them being after your wealth. It’s better to find someone of equal status or well-known."

Landon Sutton smiled indifferently and didn’t speak. Although Sylvie Pierce had that intention, she only subtly hinted at it, not directly revealing her thoughts.

Given her current situation, marrying Landon Sutton would naturally be the best outcome.

Landon Sutton is handsome and not like other wealthy heirs who indulge in debauchery. Crucially, he is smart, so she wouldn’t have to worry much about her family’s company as an outsider. However, it was unclear what his thoughts were. Nevertheless, it was evident that he did not reject her, which was a good start.

Shannon Quinn deliberately sat with her back to Landon Sutton, so she didn’t know when he left.

It was only when she went to the cashier to settle the bill that the cashier pointed to the place where Landon Sutton had been sitting and said, "That gentleman has already paid for you guys."

Shannon Quinn led Leo out of the restaurant, glancing around. She didn’t know how long those two had been gone, as they were now nowhere in sight.

The weather was quite nice today, perfect for a date. Where would the two of them go next?

A walk in the park? A movie? Or perhaps an exclusive hangout for wealthy people?

After contemplating for a while, Shannon Quinn realized, what did it matter to her where he and anyone else went on a date?

After returning home, Shannon Quinn took out the pocket watch from the desk drawer again, suddenly realizing that he used a lie to return this watch to her. Does this mean he wanted to draw a line with her?

She seemed to have heard someone mention before that Sylvie Pierce’s family was quite wealthy, she was beautiful, knowledgeable, elegant, and generous, which made her a good match for him.

She took a deep breath, placed the watch back in its box, and put it in the bottom drawer.

Just as she wished.

After eating, Sylvie Pierce wanted to ask Landon Sutton to the cinema, which he politely declined, citing business matters, and returned to the hotel alone.

Lazily lounging in the chair by the window, basking in the winter sun, he flipped through photos of Shannon Quinn he had taken the previous night on his phone, viewing them repeatedly without getting bored.

But a sudden incoming call covered the photo, and seeing the caller’s identity, Landon Sutton involuntarily frowned.

Sitting up from the sofa, he answered the call respectfully, "Grandpa."

On the other end, Shane Royale’s tone was noticeably discontent, "I heard you’re on a business trip abroad?"

Landon Sutton paused and then responded, "Yes."

"Which country? Don’t think I don’t know where you are! Hurry back!"

Landon Sutton: "..."

"You’ve learned to lie? And even dragged your brother into it! Are you implying I can’t control you anymore?"

"There are some things, I’ll be back in a couple of days."

"Don’t think I don’t know why you went there! First thing you did was to find that woman! After all these years, you still haven’t changed?! Ignoring your duties for a woman, do you know what that was called in ancient times? This is being a foolish emperor!"

Landon Sutton just replied, "This isn’t ancient times, and I’m not an emperor either."

"Don’t play word games with me. If I don’t see you tomorrow, I’ll personally come and get you!"

The old man hung up after speaking, and Landon Sutton sighed helplessly, instructing Ronan Rhodes to book a flight ticket.

When leaving, he didn’t notify Sylvie Pierce, but somehow she found out and booked the same flight as him.

"I’ll probably have to go to your place for lunch," Sylvie Pierce said to Landon Sutton as they got off the plane.

Landon Sutton looked at her in confusion, and Sylvie Pierce placed her phone in front of him, saying, "Grandpa messaged me saying he’s at Grandpa Rhodes’s house and asked me to go directly there."

Just then, Landon Sutton received a call from Shane Royale, "Is Shirley with you? Drive her back."

Only then did Landon Sutton realize the situation wasn’t looking good, fearing another matchmaking attempt was underway.
