CHAPTER 235: CHAPTER 235: I’LL STOP HERE

Landon Sutton was considering this problem too, hoping to find a way to bring them back.

However, Leo was still unaware of everything, and Shannon Quinn hadn’t agreed to marry him. He was worried that if he brought the mother and son back, his grandfather’s demeanor might frighten Shannon Quinn away.

He understood Shane Royale’s temperament, knowing that although he had a tough exterior, his heart was soft. He might appear unapproachable, but he didn’t mean much by it.

But Shannon Quinn didn’t know this, and a few years back, they had some disagreements and unpleasantness. He needed to mediate between them, at least until his relationship with Shannon Quinn became more stable.

He didn’t want his grandfather’s harsh words to ruin all the efforts he had made over the past three weeks.

"When are you leaving?" Shannon Quinn didn’t ask him if he wanted to go back; instead, she directly asked when he planned to return. She didn’t want Landon Sutton to feel awkward either.

He had been with her for much longer than she had expected.

"I’ll leave after having lunch with you tomorrow." Landon Sutton turned to look at her. Although she didn’t say anything, he could sense her mood was slightly low.

"I’ll try to come back on the second day of the New Year, and take you and the child out to play then."

"It’s okay, my mom and siblings are also coming for the New Year. I’m afraid I won’t have time for you. You can stay a few more days; if you come back too early, I might not have time to be with you."

"Really?"

Shannon Quinn nodded and said, "Yeah, every year we organize some activities and go out together. Do you think I won’t celebrate the New Year without you? What a joke."

Landon Sutton smiled, "Alright then, I’ll try to come earlier to join your activities."

The reason for Shannon Quinn’s slight disappointment was probably because she initially thought he would spend the New Year with them. She hadn’t said anything, but she had already included him in her plans for outings.

Now, hearing suddenly that he was leaving, she felt a gap in her expectations, which made her somewhat unhappy.

The next afternoon, everything seemed the same as usual, but Shannon Quinn was less talkative than usual.

After having lunch, she sat on the sofa watching TV, and when she saw Landon Sutton walking out of the kitchen, she silently sighed.

"I have to go now," Landon Sutton said to her while wiping his hands with a paper towel.

Shannon Quinn glanced at him indifferently and nodded, "Go ahead."

"Not going to see me off?"

"Too lazy to get dressed."

"Just to the elevator."

Shannon Quinn gave him a sideways glance, reluctantly stood up, and just as she took a step, he suddenly stepped in front of her, caught her off guard, bent down, and kissed her on the forehead. He smiled and said, "Okay, just see me off to here."

Shannon Quinn stood there in a daze, raised her hand to rub her forehead, and watched him take the black coat from the sofa, put it on, change into his shoes at the door, open the door, and stand at the door, turning to look at her, "I’m leaving."

Shannon Quinn walked to the doorway, looked him up and down, met his gaze, but said nothing.

Landon Sutton looked at his watch, feeling pressed for time, "I really have to go now, go back inside, it’s cold outside."

Shannon Quinn pursed her lips, standing at the door, neither closing it nor going back inside.

Landon Sutton reluctantly reached out to ruffle her hair, and unwillingly turned to walk into the elevator.

Shannon Quinn followed him for a couple of steps, standing where she could see the elevator.

Landon Sutton waved at her, "Go back inside."

She still didn’t speak, just stood there watching him.

The elevator doors slowly closed automatically, and through the closing gap, he saw her still standing not far away, looking in his direction.

Suddenly, an impulse came over him, and inexplicably, he reached out to stop the closing elevator doors. The doors immediately reopened in the opposite direction. He stepped out of the elevator, took two strides to stand in front of Shannon Quinn, held her tightly, put his hand on the back of her head, and planted a firm kiss on her.

This time, it was a passionate and lingering kiss.

At first, Shannon Quinn’s body was tense but gradually softened, feeling warm in his embrace.

When Landon Sutton let her go, both of their breaths were slightly hurried, and Shannon Quinn seemed a bit dazed, looking at him with a blank expression, "I’m really leaving, I’ll be back soon."

He turned back into the elevator, hearing Shannon Quinn mutter, "You rascal."

He didn’t look back again, afraid that seeing her would make him reluctant to leave.

Two days ago, Leo hadn’t gone to class anymore and went to play with Catherine Yardley and her uncle.

On the day Landon Sutton left, Catherine Yardley brought Leo back, and Julian Yardley and Sheila Yardley also came over to join in the fun.

In the past few years, they had always celebrated together as a family, and Shannon Quinn had always felt satisfied and happy to spend the New Year with her family. But this year, she felt something was missing.

On New Year’s Eve, listening to the countdown on TV, the sound of fireworks outside, and the nearby clock tower chiming at midnight...

Along with all this, Shannon Quinn received a message from Landon Sutton: Happy New Year.

Seeing the simple four words, Shannon Quinn’s lips couldn’t help but lift, as if the sense of incompleteness the whole night was instantly filled.

She hesitated but replied with the same four words.

This was also the first time in years she responded to Landon Sutton’s message.

He suggested a video call, but Shannon Quinn refused, as family members were around, and she felt a bit embarrassed.

Even though it was the same four words, his felt more special than others’ messages.

Every year during the New Year, the two Wilde sisters would come to celebrate with them, but this year, there seemed to be something going on at home. When Shannon Quinn asked a few days ago, Susan Wilde only said she and her sister were going back.

Shannon Quinn always felt that Susan Wilde’s relationship with the Wilde Family was somewhat like hers with the Quinn Family, but after all, the Wilde Family’s patriarch was still Susan Wilde’s biological father, and the blood relationship could not be severed.

Susan Wilde also thought that after all these years, her father calling her to come back for New Year was due to missing her and her sister.

During the reunion dinner, the atmosphere was indeed nice, the stepmother didn’t make things difficult for the sisters, and the father even served them food.

But after the cheerful time ended, the father called her downstairs alone, and her stepmother was waiting in the living room.

"Shaw, come sit here." Lily Lee patted the sofa beside her and smiled at Susan Wilde.

Seeing the change in Lily Lee’s attitude toward her, Susan Wilde had a bad feeling in her heart.

Wayne Wilde sat beside Lily Lee, and Susan Wilde sat on the single sofa nearby, looking at the two, she asked, "Dad, Auntie, what’s going on so late?"

Lily Lee smiled at Wayne Wilde, and with his permission, nodded, "You go ahead and tell Shaw."
