My Mysterious Hidden Husband
Chapter 237: Mom Scolded Me Again
CHAPTER 237: CHAPTER 237: MOM SCOLDED ME AGAIN
On the way back from the amusement park, Landon Sutton was driving, while Shannon Quinn and Leo were sitting in the back seat.
After a day of fun, Leo was tired and fell asleep shortly after getting in the car.
Not hearing Leo speak, Landon Sutton glanced at Shannon Quinn through the rearview mirror and asked softly, "Is the kid asleep?"
"Yeah, he’s tired from playing."
Landon Sutton chuckled and handed his jacket, which was on the passenger seat, to Shannon Quinn, saying, "Cover the kid with this, so he won’t be cold when we get off the car."
Shannon Quinn quickly reached out to take it and slightly frowned at him, "Focus on driving properly."
After having an accident once, Shannon Quinn was psychologically affected.
"Okay," Landon Sutton replied, then held the steering wheel with both hands.
Shannon Quinn adjusted Leo’s position, letting him lie flat so his arms and legs wouldn’t go numb later.
Seeing the traffic light ahead, Landon Sutton slowed down in advance, trying to drive more smoothly.
Once the car was stopped, Landon Sutton turned to look at Shannon Quinn, who raised her eyes in confusion, and saw him smile and say, "It’s been a while since we’ve been like this, and Leo doesn’t mind me. When do you plan to marry me?"
Shannon Quinn, hearing this, said, "I wonder if you’ve been spending time with Leo or with me lately."
Landon Sutton’s smile froze for a moment, then he realized her words meant she was complaining that he had been focusing more on Leo than her.
Originally, Landon Sutton thought that since Shannon Quinn valued Leo so much, as long as he could win over Leo, he could win over her too. He didn’t expect she’d even be jealous of her own son.
"Alright, once Leo starts school in a couple of days, you can rest for a couple of days. I’ll take you somewhere."
"Have you ever chased a girl before?"
Landon Sutton looked at her displeased expression and asked in confusion, "What’s wrong?"
Shannon Quinn turned to look out the window and mumbled, "Nothing."
Even for Sylvie Pierce’s birthday, he knew to send flowers. Now he keeps saying he wants to chase her and marry her, but after all this time, not even a single flower! Not even a petal!
Landon Sutton couldn’t figure out what he was still missing, but with little time to think, the green light came on, so he started the car and said, "If there’s anything I did wrong, please tell me, my lady."
Shannon Quinn pouted, still looking out the window.
Some things aren’t as meaningful once they’re said.
Receiving a gift proactively versus asking for it isn’t the same.
Time flew by quickly, and it was Leo’s first day of school.
The night before, Shannon Quinn came out of the shower and saw Leo still building Lego with Landon Sutton in the living room. Though she felt reluctant to disturb their fun, it was getting late.
"Leo, it’s time for bed. You need to sleep early tonight, school starts tomorrow."
"In a minute, Mom."
Shannon Quinn shook her head helplessly, knowing Landon Sutton understood the importance, so she turned around and went back to her room, sitting at the vanity to apply skincare products.
Since Catherine Yardley had returned, they had organized a room previously used for storage to accommodate Landon Sutton’s long-term stay.
Speaking of it, the owner of the house was Aidan Lockwood. Shannon Quinn recalled when she first moved here with her child, the large room felt a little empty. But now, it seemed there wasn’t enough space anymore.
"Mom."
Shannon Quinn turned her head to see Leo in his teddy bear pajamas walking towards her. She continued applying neck cream and asked, "What’s up?"
"Can Uncle Sutton take me to school with you tomorrow?"
Shannon Quinn was stunned, thinking they had originally planned for this, but didn’t expect Leo to come and specifically request it.
After thinking about it, Shannon Quinn asked Leo, "Why do you insist on Uncle Sutton coming along?"
Leo’s eyes wandered as he mumbled, "I just want you both to go."
"Uncle Sutton isn’t paying your tuition, why should he go?"
"But Uncle can drive, he can be our driver and take us, and Uncle Sutton is so handsome, it’ll be quite impressive for him to go with us!"
Shannon Quinn couldn’t help but roll her eyes and gently tapped Leo’s nose with her finger, "So vain at such a young age! That’s not right!"
"Mom, can you let Uncle come along?"
This little one has been spoiled by Landon Sutton, getting cheeky effortlessly.
"Go to bed first, if you wake up on time tomorrow, then Uncle Sutton can come with us."
Leo happily nodded and immediately ran to his room.
When Shannon Quinn followed him over, she saw Leo lying obediently in bed.
"Shall I turn off the lights?" Shannon Quinn said, standing by the door.
Leo nodded, "Yeah."
"Click" - the light in the room went off, "Goodnight, sweetheart," Shannon Quinn whispered gently, then was about to close the door when Leo suddenly called out to her, "Mom."
"Yes?"
After two seconds of silence, Leo continued, "Can Uncle Sutton be my dad?"
"Go to sleep, it’s none of your business to worry about adult matters."
"Hmph, if you keep this up, Uncle Sutton will leave you."
"You chatterbox, shut up and go to sleep."
Having tidied up the toys and come to check the room, Landon Sutton arrived at the door and Leo took the opportunity to complain, "Uncle, Mom scolded me again!"
"Mom’s a lady, we don’t hold it against her. Go to sleep."
"Uncle, can you take me to school with Mom tomorrow?"
Landon Sutton glanced at Shannon Quinn, then nodded to agree, "Alright."
Receiving a satisfactory answer, Leo smiled happily, then closed his eyes, "Goodnight Uncle, goodnight Mom."
"Why am I second to Uncle?" Shannon Quinn dissatisfiedly mumbled, lightly closing the door.
Outside, Landon Sutton looked at her with amusement and said, "I’ve noticed you’re really stingy."
"Then go find someone who’s generous!"
"Sometimes you seem quite generous too."
Shannon Quinn rolled her eyes, "Then go find someone who leaks generosity."
With that, she turned and headed to her room, closing the door with a bang.
Standing in the hallway, Landon Sutton chuckled indulgently, while Catherine Yardley, who had just mopped the floor, looked at Landon Sutton and said, "Sutton, you need to be more patient, she has a bad temper."
"No problem, she’s great. Aunt, you should get some rest early too."
"Alright, I’ll leave it to you to take Leo to school in the morning."
"Okay, Aunt, don’t worry."
Catherine Yardley smiled contentedly, turning as she spoke, "I’m assured leaving it to you."
The next morning, Shannon Quinn worried that Leo might be too used to sleeping in during the break and wouldn’t be able to get up, but before she woke up, Leo came knocking on her door, "Mom, wake up! Don’t sleep in, Uncle has already made breakfast!"
Shannon Quinn picked up her phone to check the time; it wasn’t even the alarm time she set. Lazily rubbing her eyes, she responded to her son outside the door, "Alright, Mom will be out soon!"
