My Mysterious Hidden Husband
Chapter 248: Homewrecker
CHAPTER 248: CHAPTER 248: HOMEWRECKER
Landon Sutton applied a bit of force, within Shannon Quinn’s limits, leaning close to her back and said, "How about we go all the way?"
Shannon Quinn was really afraid of crossing the line, turned around and pushed him away, then moved a bit to the other side: "Sit still and don’t move around, close your eyes and relax."
"How about a bust massage?"
"Do it on yourself!" Shannon Quinn huffed and moved even further away.
Shannon Quinn had always thought she was past the naive age and wouldn’t get fluttery over love matters anymore. At least when other men pursued her, she didn’t feel that way, mostly feeling awkward and troubled.
However, with Landon Sutton, everything seemed different. One action or word from him could make her blush furiously.
On the way back to the hotel from the hot spring, the small bridge and flowing water, the lights of the houses—they all made one’s pace slow down in such a leisurely place.
"I haven’t been here in ages; the changes are huge." Shannon Quinn mused to herself before turning her head to look at Landon Sutton walking alongside her, and asked, "By the way, when you were chatting with the boss, he mentioned thanking you for developing the tourism industry here. Did you fund all these renovations?"
Landon Sutton smiled lightly, saying nothing.
Shannon Quinn continued to probe, "Is it because this is where we first met that you invested in developing here?"
Landon Sutton didn’t admit it, smiling as he said, "This is a business opportunity, just for making money, nothing to do with you."
Shannon Quinn pouted and didn’t say anything more. Erin Bishop sent a message gossiping about her love life on WeChat, and Shannon Quinn walked while replying, eyes downcast.
Landon Sutton didn’t tell her not to play on her phone while walking, only watched the road ahead, occasionally reminding her, and pulled her back when necessary.
After returning to the inn, Shannon Quinn lay on the bed chatting after her shower, and Landon Sutton reminded her as he came out of the bathroom, "Sleep early, we’re going somewhere else tomorrow."
"Where to?"
"You’ll know when we get there. Sit up to play on your phone, play a while then sleep."
Shannon Quinn sat up and looked at him, asking, "What about you?"
"I’m going downstairs to talk to Lewis, I’ll be back soon."
"...Okay."
Watching him get dressed and leave, Shannon Quinn continued focusing on chatting with Erin Bishop.
She told Erin Bishop about what had happened recently and shared her thoughts and plans.
Having been through a failed marriage, Erin Bishop listened with envy, and it was evident through her words that she must have thought of Zane Rhodes again.
Especially when she heard that the person Shannon Quinn had saved was Landon Sutton.
Even though it’s all in the past, the memories were still bittersweet.
Shannon Quinn remembered Landon Sutton’s advice, and after saying goodnight to Erin Bishop, she prepared to sleep, curious as to why Landon Sutton hadn’t returned yet.
When texting him, there was no hesitation anymore; she directly sent a voice message asking, "Why haven’t you come back yet?"
Landon Sutton quickly sent a line of text back: Only ten minutes gone, and you’re already checking on me?
Before Shannon Quinn could say anything more, Landon Sutton added: I’m coming up, do you want anything to eat?
"Are there still any of those walnut buns from this morning? If there are, bring up two."
Landon Sutton: Anything else?
Shannon Quinn thought for a moment and said, "I’ll come down myself."
Landon Sutton chuckled, waiting for her at the place selling food on the first floor.
It was less than a minute between floors, but she must have been changing clothes; three minutes passed and she hadn’t come down yet.
Landon Sutton first ordered the walnut buns for her and was about to ask if she was dawdling when, coincidentally, he encountered that girl again.
"Where’s your girlfriend?" The girl walked over and directly asked.
Landon Sutton just glanced at her, not answering, scanned the QR code on the counter with his phone to pay, then took the bag handed over by the staff.
The girl tried to find a topic: "You like walnut buns too? I..."
Before the girl could finish, Landon Sutton smiled sarcastically and said, "My wife loves them."
"Wow, coming down just to buy food for your wife, not many men like that. If you weren’t taken, I’d definitely pursue you."
Landon Sutton smiled politely, but what he said wasn’t polite at all: "Whether I have a wife or not is irrelevant. Even if I were single, I don’t like women who fail to read the room."
The girl forced a laugh, "So you mean to say you pursued her? I don’t see what’s so special about her, she just seems cute, but there are plenty of girls like that everywhere, aren’t there?"
"She’s special, alright. Specially jealous, gets particularly angry when she’s jealous, and when she’s angry she wants to hit people—either scratch faces or pull hair. You better be careful, if the implants in your face get dislodged, compensation is a minor issue, but going for a repair isn’t so easy, is it?"
Shannon Quinn, wearing a pink pajama set with a white jacket over it, bounced downstairs and immediately saw Landon Sutton standing with that woman.
Not knowing what the two were talking about, the smile on her face immediately changed, and she frowned, looking a bit upset as she walked quickly over.
Landon Sutton smiled at her, saying something, before the girl turned around and also looked over, slightly surprised upon seeing Shannon Quinn, then smiled, "Oh, you’re here too, sis? Why don’t we find a place to eat and chat?"
Shannon Quinn frowned and glanced at Landon Sutton, who showed no sign of guilt.
She believed that Landon Sutton wouldn’t do anything to betray her and knew for sure that it was the woman who clung to him.
If she were to confront Landon Sutton at this moment, it would only make this woman even more smug.
So Shannon Quinn temporarily settled the score with Landon Sutton later, walked over to him snugglingly, and put on a smile as she looked at the woman, saying, "What a coincidence, sis."
"Yeah, meeting here is fate. Let’s find a place to sit and chat. This meal is on me, sis."
Shannon Quinn smiled, pretentiously looking around, then deliberately lowered her voice and said, "Sis, you’re not a tourist, are you?"
The girl asked puzzledly, "Why do you say that, sis?"
"Sis, targeting a wealthy and handsome man, shamelessly clinging, isn’t that typical chicken behavior? Could it be that you’re specifically here to scout for some prey, sis?"
The girl’s expression changed, clearly angered, "Why’s your mouth so nasty? Just opening your mouth to curse people?"
"Sorry, sis, I said something wrong because I’m a bit ignorant, but sis, knowing the person has a partner and still clinging on, actually isn’t much different from a chicken." Without waiting for the girl to speak, Shannon Quinn added with a playful grin, "Don’t be mad, sis, I’m just blunt when I speak."
The girl coldly retorted, "Do you really think I’m easy to bully?"
