CHAPTER 253: CHAPTER 253: CUCKOLDED BY MY WIFE

Landon Sutton sat down with Shannon Quinn in a corner, continuing his earlier topic, "He’s my half-brother, technically an illegitimate child, but my grandfather thinks highly of him and has entrusted him with the Fairchild Family’s affairs."

Shannon Quinn nodded, half-understanding. It sounded complicated but she didn’t ask further questions.

She vaguely knew that there was an underlying conflict between the Fairchild Family and the Rhodes Family, possibly related to Landon Sutton’s mother.

Years ago, June Yardley sought refuge with the Fairchild Family, naturally settling for the status quo.

It was clear earlier that June Yardley and Seth Fairchild weren’t very close. Although they always appeared together as a married couple, they weren’t actually married; it was more of a mutually beneficial relationship.

Their real motives were known only to them.

Given Landon Sutton’s status, it was inevitable that people would approach him. Shannon Quinn sat nearby, listening to him discuss work with others, finding it rather dull due to her lack of understanding.

Most of the guests had already arrived, and Sylvie Pierce took a moment to call Shannon Quinn over, saying, "Shannon, come play with us. We can’t understand what the men are talking about either."

Shannon Quinn glanced at Landon Sutton, who nodded in approval, then handed her the phone from his coat pocket and said, "Call me if anything comes up."

"Okay."

With her phone in hand, Shannon Quinn got up and left with Sylvie Pierce.

Sylvie Pierce had quite a few friends who seemed to be socialites, each dressed extravagantly. As Shannon joined them, she overheard them discussing the new brand at this fashion show.

Sylvie Pierce settled her onto an empty spot on the sofa and introduced her to the other girls, "This is the great designer I told you about. She’s worked on almost all the brands you just mentioned, including the dress Rhea wore on her birthday, which Shannon designed. You should discuss more on this with her."

Shannon Quinn smiled awkwardly, finding it hard to open up to unfamiliar people.

All at once, the conversation revolved around Shannon Quinn, making her feel somewhat overwhelmed.

Fortunately, nobody made any caustic remarks, and they only asked questions Shannon could answer, easing her into the conversation.

"You guys chat, I’ll go get us some drinks, champagne or juice?"

"Champagne, we’re not children, forget the juice."

Sylvie Pierce joked, "Want some whiskey?"

Her friend quickly waved it off, "Do you want me to be crawling home tonight?"

Shannon Quinn used this opportunity to glance at her phone.

Earlier, she felt her phone vibrate once, but with Sylvie Pierce by her side and everyone focusing on her, she hesitated to check it out of politeness.

Upon opening WeChat, she saw a message from Landon Sutton: Don’t randomly drink anything.

Although Shannon Quinn felt Landon Sutton might be overthinking it, she still replied: Got it.

She turned to look where Landon Sutton had earlier been chatting, but he was no longer in sight, and she wondered where he had gone.

Soon, Sylvie Pierce came back with champagne, placing a glass in front of everyone.

The others gradually picked up their glasses to take a sip. Shannon Quinn stared at her glass, thinking about Landon Sutton’s message, and decided to obediently comply.

Sylvie Pierce kept an eye on Shannon Quinn’s actions, noticing she hadn’t picked up her glass yet, asking, "Shannon, why aren’t you drinking?"

Shannon Quinn made an excuse, "I’m not feeling well these days."

"Oh, you should’ve said so! I’ll get you some warm juice."

"No need, don’t trouble yourself. I’m not thirsty, let’s just sit and chat."

Sylvie Pierce glanced at the wine glass in front of Shannon Quinn, thinking surely there would be a chance for her to take a sip, just a small one would be enough...

No one knew what she was plotting. From fashion, they started discussing makeup and then entertainment gossip, until a girl suddenly said, "Hey, I noticed Shannon with Landon Sutton earlier. Is Shannon Landon’s date?"

Shannon Quinn was taken aback for a moment, then nodded, "Sort of."

Sylvie Pierce smiled, without adding anything, and another girl said, "Shannon and Dream-boat Sutton are really close? I’m so jealous. I’ve always thought Dream-boat Sutton was the man of my dreams, but I suppose I won’t ever get to marry such an outstanding man. I heard there were hardly any women around him. As his date, Shannon, seize the opportunity, maybe you’ll win him over."

Shannon Quinn smiled silently, thinking it was surprising how other women found Landon Sutton so hard to pursue.

Yet she felt a small thrill and pride knowing that a man who was so elusive to others was making such efforts to pursue her.

"By the way, Sylvie, weren’t you planning to marry into the Rhodes Family? Your family seems closely connected with them. Why don’t we hear about it anymore?"

Sylvie Pierce awkwardly smiled, glanced at Shannon Quinn, and then explained, "That was just my mom’s idea."

"Was it the elder son or the second son from the Rhodes Family?"

"It must be the elder son. I’ve heard the second son is disabled, wasn’t he previously married? Then he got cheated on, and they divorced. It was a big scandal in the social circle back then."

"Oh, right, that was a few years ago. But with Sylvie’s excellent circumstances, she’d definitely marry the elder son."

"I just saw the elder son earlier. He’s a decent man, seems almost on par with Dream-boat Sutton."

"Yes, Sheryl, if it happens, don’t forget us."

Sylvie Pierce just laughed dryly, and Shannon Quinn didn’t explain either.

Shannon Quinn knew Sylvie Pierce was aware of Vincent Rhodes’ situation, and that she had previously told these sisters about marrying into the Rhodes Family, planning on Vincent and not Simon Rhodes.

This confirmed Shannon Quinn’s concerns; she could share such things with her sisters but pretended to have no interest in Landon Sutton in front of her. She must have her own calculations.

"Hey, let’s stop with this pointless chatter. Cheers to friendship." All the sisters raised their glasses, and Shannon Quinn lifted hers just for show.

Sylvie Pierce said, "Shannon, you always hold your glass without drinking. We’re having so much fun, just take a small sip, come on."

Sylvie Pierce repeatedly urged her to drink, making Shannon Quinn suspicious, so she politely refused, "I really can’t drink for now. Maybe on another day when I’m better."

Another sister cheerfully said, "Alright, if it’s her time of the month, let’s not push her. We’ll get her another day, let’s drink."

Hidden in Sylvie Pierce’s smiling eyes was an unnoticeable scheme.
