My Mysterious Hidden Husband
Chapter 254: Sylvie Pierce’s Scheming
CHAPTER 254: CHAPTER 254: SYLVIE PIERCE’S SCHEMING
Sylvie Pierce saw that things weren’t working with Shannon Quinn, so she decided to try a different approach.
Seeing the relationship between Landon Sutton and Shannon Quinn reaching this point, she felt that if she didn’t act now, it might be too late.
Sylvie Pierce found Shawn Pierce who was chatting with friends, sat down beside him, and said, "Brother, this is your first proper birthday celebration, right? Come on, let me toast you."
Shawn Pierce smiled, took the glass of wine Sylvie Pierce handed over, and said with a smile, "It’s been a hard day for you tonight."
"No trouble at all, as long as you’re happy. Come on, cheers."
Shawn Pierce didn’t suspect his sister at all, raised his glass, and drank it down cheerfully.
Sylvie Pierce smiled as she took back Shawn Pierce’s empty glass and stood up saying, "Take your time, I’m going to join my friends over there."
"Alright."
Sylvie Pierce took a deep breath, saw Shannon Quinn returning from the restroom, casually placed the two glasses on a side table, and walked over to Shannon.
"Shannon, why isn’t Leo with you?"
"He’s at school, his grandmother is taking care of him at home."
"So, when do you and Vincent plan to get married?"
Shannon Quinn was unsure if Sylvie Pierce was trying to find something out, but she simply replied, "It’s up to his plans."
"Vincent said you’re his ex-wife. So, are those rumors true? Did you leave him at first without knowing his true identity, and now that you know the truth, you’re regretting it and want to remarry him?"
Looking as though she finally spoke her mind, Shannon Quinn maintained a smile and said, "Rumors are just rumors. What happens between us is clear to both of us, and Vincent isn’t foolish. He knows what judgment and choices to make."
"Shannon, don’t overthink. I’m just curious, that’s all."
"It’s fine."
"Why don’t you sit for a while? If you want anything to eat, let someone get it for you."
Sylvie Pierce checked the time and felt it was about right, so she went back to Shawn.
The friend who had been chatting with Shawn Pierce stood up and was about to leave, and upon seeing Sylvie Pierce, he said, "Your brother said he’s suddenly feeling a bit dizzy. You should take him to his room to rest."
"Alright, I’ll handle it." Sylvie Pierce looked at Shawn Pierce who was leaning on the couch with a faint trace of sweat on his temple and asked, "What’s wrong, brother?"
"I’m not sure, suddenly feeling dizzy and my body feels hot."
"Maybe you caught a cold? Let me help you upstairs to rest a bit."
Shawn Pierce furrowed his brow, looking quite uncomfortable, but still somewhat conscious, "I can go up myself. You stay down here and greet the guests. I’ll come back down after resting for a while."
"Alright, if you don’t feel well, don’t force yourself. Should I call Dr. Morgan to take a look?"
"No need, I’ll be fine after resting for a bit."
Sylvie Pierce watched Shawn Pierce go upstairs, and her gaze wandered over to Shannon Quinn who was alone in the dining area, eating. She also scanned the surroundings; with Landon Sutton not around, things were much easier.
She went up to Shannon Quinn and said, "Shannon, why are you here? Vincent was looking for you earlier and wanted you to find him on the second floor."
"He’s looking for me? Where is he?"
"He went upstairs with Grandpa Rhodes first and asked me to call you. I guess it’s about discussing your wedding plans. Come on, I’ll take you up."
Shannon Quinn was puzzled why Landon Sutton didn’t come for her himself but thought that since Shane Royale was there, it might be inconvenient for him to leave.
She got up and followed Sylvie Pierce upstairs. The upstairs was quiet, unlike the lively hall, with an empty long corridor.
Shannon Quinn was still a little cautious, looking around as she walked, but after only a few steps, Sylvie Pierce stopped in front of a room and looked sideways at Shannon, smiling in a way that sent a chill down Shannon’s spine.
As she realized the danger, two men dressed in waiter uniforms came out from a nearby room. They approached and quickly grabbed Shannon Quinn’s hands, tying ropes around them. As she was about to call for help, another man swiftly taped her mouth.
No matter how she struggled, she could only make muffled sounds, unable to draw any attention from downstairs.
"Take her inside," Sylvie Pierce ordered, watching the men escort Shannon Quinn into the room, a triumphant smile appearing on her face.
After the two men emerged from the room, she closed the door unhurriedly and the three started heading downstairs one by one.
After Sylvie Pierce descended, she began looking for Landon Sutton, and just as she saw him coming out from the inner hall, he scanned the area like he was searching for something.
Seeing him lower his head and take out his phone to make a call, Sylvie Pierce approached and said, "Vincent? Have you seen Shannon? I wanted to ask her some design questions, but suddenly I can’t find her anywhere."
Landon Sutton asked her with a straight face, "Wasn’t she with you?"
"We finished chatting, she went to eat, and then I couldn’t find her. I thought she went to see you."
Landon Sutton stared at Sylvie Pierce for a few seconds, seemingly assessing if she was lying, but didn’t delve further and dialed a number on his phone.
The call went through, but no one answered for a long time.
In the dark room, only some indistinct outlines were visible.
Shannon Quinn, with hands and feet bound, fell onto the bed but could sense another person nearby.
A man, his breathing a little quick.
The phone inside her bag was ringing, but she couldn’t reach it.
She struggled against the ropes around her wrists, loosening them slightly, but couldn’t free her hands.
Before she could untangle the ropes, the man’s hand reached over, and originally fearing to make noise to alarm him, her body twisted in struggle but couldn’t escape him.
"Mm—mm—" She tried to make sounds to awaken the man, but couldn’t form a coherent sentence.
Landon Sutton saw the unanswered call and frowned, looking at Sylvie Pierce beside him, about to ask if she had done something to Shannon Quinn, when Old Mr. Pierce approached, asking Sylvie, "Shirley, where is your brother? Your uncle wants to discuss something with him."
Sylvie Pierce saw Shane Royale also coming out from not far away and thought it was a good opportunity, so she pointed upstairs and said, "My brother said earlier he wasn’t feeling well and went upstairs to rest."
"Not feeling well? That boy usually doesn’t get sick, why is he suddenly ill tonight?"
"Maybe it’s because the weather’s been changing from hot to cold. Oh, I also happened to see Shannon heading upstairs just now."
Hearing Sylvie Pierce’s inconsistent remarks, Landon Sutton suddenly realized something, and without a word, turned and quickly headed upstairs.
Shane Royale approached and saw Landon Sutton hurrying up the stairs, puzzled, asking, "What’s going on?"
Old Mr. Pierce was confused too, "I don’t know, let’s go check upstairs."
