CHAPTER 264: CHAPTER 264: CLIMBING THE WALL TO SEE A WOMAN

In front of others, Lily Lee acted very nicely towards Susan Wilde, and as soon as Susan arrived, Lily invited them to sit.

Shawn Rhodes took a seat on the sofa with her, and Shawn’s father said, "Your second uncle came over to discuss the new district development with you."

Shawn smiled and looked at Simon Rhodes, saying, "Such a good opportunity, how did Uncle think of me?"

Mrs. Rhodes brought over some fruit, gave Shawn a stern look, and said, "Speak properly."

Simon Rhodes glanced inconspicuously at Susan Wilde, then replied, "It’s better for the money to go to family than outsiders."

As they continued their discussion, Susan Wilde was lost in a cloud and somewhat distracted as she sat.

Luckily, it didn’t take long to start eating, which kept Susan from being too bored.

At the dining table, they were all talking about making money, one after another, while Susan quietly ate, not noticing a glance occasionally cast in her direction.

Shawn sat beside Susan Wilde and saw the servant bringing in the soup. Mischievously, he nudged the servant’s hand, and the bowl of soup spilled directly onto Susan’s arm.

"Oh no! How careless! Are you alright, Susan?" Mrs. Rhodes was the first to stand and check Susan’s arm.

The servant’s hand was also scalded, but she kept apologizing.

Susan Wilde took a tissue to wipe the soup from her arm and smiled lightly, saying, "It’s alright, don’t worry about me."

Lily Lee turned and said with a smile to Simon Rhodes, "So, is the cooperation decided then?"

Simon disregarded the question, locking his gaze on Susan Wilde, worried about her arm but not daring to show too much concern, so he only said, "It’s best to apply some medication for the burn."

"There seems to be some burn ointment at home. Mrs. Ward, could you find it?" It was clear that Mrs. Rhodes was genuinely concerned about Susan Wilde, as she blew on the burn.

The scalded area immediately turned red, and a burning pain was transmitted.

The servant found some burn ointment, which alleviated the pain somewhat, yet discomfort and pain lingered.

Mrs. Rhodes returned to her seat, scolding Shawn, "Didn’t you see Auntie bringing the soup? You moved around and got Susan scalded."

"It wasn’t intentional."

Susan Wilde didn’t know if Shawn did it on purpose, but she knew Shawn didn’t care about her, that much was true.

Just like her parents, there wasn’t a single word of concern.

After dinner, Shawn rushed to the hospital to see Rowan Alder and left right away, making an excuse.

Sitting in his car, Susan Wilde gazed at the night scene outside the window, lost in thought. Suddenly, the car stopped at an intersection, and she heard Shawn say, "Get a cab back yourself, it’s not on my way to the hospital."

Understanding his meaning, Susan Wilde picked up her bag, opened the car door, and got out.

She was only relieved that he dropped her off in a place where getting a cab was relatively easy.

Watching his car drive away, Susan Wilde stood by the roadside waiting for the car she called via her phone.

A black Maybach slowly stopped in front of her, the window rolled down, and Simon Rhodes poked his head out to ask, "Why are you here?"

"Oh... he went to handle something nearby."

"Shall I take you home?"

Susan Wilde shook her head and waved her phone, saying, "I called a car, it’ll be here soon."

Simon nodded, paused, and asked again, "Is your arm okay?"

Susan Wilde looked down at her arm, shook her head, and then saw the car she called arriving, quickly flagged it down, and waved to Simon, "The car’s here, I’ll go now."

"Alright."

Once Susan Wilde got in the car and left, Simon started his car.

Susan Wilde got out of the car near a pharmacy by her house to buy some burn ointment.

Immediately after the scalding, it didn’t feel as serious, but blisters had formed by now, and she worried about scarring if not properly treated.

Simon Rhodes got a tube of ointment from a friend and drove to where Susan lived.

The car stopped at the villa gate; it was locked, with the security guard placed by Shawn.

If he went directly in, the guard might inform Shawn that he had come by.

Not wanting to cause unnecessary trouble for Susan, he walked around the villa and found another entrance...

Susan Wilde was in her bedroom by the desk, working on her computer.

The transition from spring to early summer was pleasant, with a door to the balcony open, allowing a comfortable breeze carrying the scent of roses to drift in.

She was focused on the content of the computer and didn’t notice someone peeking from outside the glass door.

Simon climbed over the wall and saw the ground floor room lit up. Upon closer inspection, he realized she lived in this room.

He might never have imagined that he would one day climb a wall to see a girl.

"Skylar." He called out, but maintaining some distance and with her being too engrossed, she didn’t hear him.

Gazing at the roses ahead, he hesitated for two seconds before stepping in.

Getting a thorn scratch on his hand, he frowned but continued forward.

Only then did Susan Wilde notice the rustling sound from outside the window, peeking out through the glass door, she saw movement in the rose bushes not quite explainable by stray cats.

She stood up cautiously and went towards the balcony, immediately spotting the man trying to climb over it.

At first startled, she was more surprised when she recognized the man.

"...Simon?" After hesitating over how to address Simon Rhodes, Susan finally spoke.

Then she advanced quickly, grabbing onto Simon with concern, "What happened?"

Simon smiled, relaxing the frown from the thorn’s sting and looked down at her, "Did I scare you?"

"No... why are you here? And coming in this way..."

Simon reached into his suit pocket, retrieved a box with ointment, and handed it to her, saying, "I got this from a friend, it’s supposedly very effective on burns, even minor ones won’t scar after using this, you should try it, it’s better for a girl not to have scars."

Susan Wilde found herself a bit at a loss, hesitating for a couple of seconds before accepting the box, noticing a little cut on his hand from the thorns.

He withdrew his hand, and Susan hesitated, looking down at the box in her hands, unable to comprehend the foreign language printed on it.

Yet thinking he had gone to the extent of climbing the wall at night to bring her medicine, Susan felt incredulous, but also slightly moved, as no one had ever shown her such care before.

"Thank you... actually, you could have used the front door."

"Didn’t want to cause unnecessary trouble for you."

Thinking of the security guard at the gate, Susan found his reasoning valid, not expecting him to be so considerate.

"Um... would you like to come inside for a bit?" Since he wasn’t leaving, it felt impolite to usher him out, so she politely offered.
