My Mysterious Hidden Husband
Chapter 268: The Affair Partner
CHAPTER 268: CHAPTER 268: THE AFFAIR PARTNER
After dropping off Rhea Fawcett at home, Simon Rhodes was still thinking about what she had just said.
The car unknowingly arrived under Skylar Vance’s building, and through the iron railings, he could vaguely see that the lights in her room were on.
Simon Rhodes rolled down the car window, took out a cigarette from the pack, and lit it, breathing in and out the smoke.
What he was unwilling to accept was perhaps that he had the chance to keep her, yet he missed it.
If he had known earlier during the days when her boyfriend betrayed her and stayed by her side, perhaps things wouldn’t be like this now.
When the cigarette was finished, Simon Rhodes started the car and left.
On the way back, he passed by Shawn Rhodes’ car. Shawn recognized the car and looked at it in the rearview mirror for quite a while after passing it.
When he entered the villa gate, he asked the security guard, "Did anyone come by just now?"
The security guard thought for a moment and said, "Only the madam came back. No one else has been here."
Shawn nodded, it seemed he was overthinking.
Skylar Vance was trying on new clothes she bought online inside her house. Hearing the noise outside, she knew it was probably Shawn coming back, but she didn’t care much. Unexpectedly, she heard a woman’s voice: "Why did you bring me here?"
"You’re going to live here from now on. My mom is keeping a close eye these days, and your injury isn’t fully healed. I don’t feel secure with you living alone."
"Isn’t that woman also living here?"
"She’s downstairs, don’t mind her."
Skylar never thought he would bring Rowan Alder home.
But thinking about it, if it gets discovered, it wouldn’t affect her much, and it’ll be him who gets scolded.
Thinking this, Skylar looked in the mirror and adjusted her dress, then glanced at the burn scar on her arm. Although the medicine Simon gave was effective, it was impossible for the scar to completely heal in such a short time. It seemed she could only save the short-sleeve clothes for next year.
She took a shower, and when she came out, she heard the sound of the television in the living room.
She and Shawn hardly ever used the living room; once home, they each returned to their rooms.
"Shawn, I’m a bit hungry."
"What do you want to eat? I’ll cook."
"Let’s order takeout. You’ve worked too hard."
"It’s okay, I’ll check what’s in the fridge."
Skylar didn’t know if those two were doing it on purpose, but the television volume was turned up.
Even with her room tightly shut, she could still hear the noise.
If Rowan Alder really intended to stay here long term, Skylar thought she’d better move out to avoid unnecessary trouble.
She didn’t know what kind of person Rowan was, but she didn’t seem like someone easy to deal with.
The next morning, Skylar left early to avoid running into them.
In the evening, she deliberately worked overtime at the hospital until after 9 PM, thinking she could avoid them again, but unexpectedly walked in on their intimate moment.
The two seemed to completely disregard her, kissing passionately in the living room.
When Rowan saw her coming in, she pushed Shawn away, gave Skylar a shy glance, and then bashfully huddled in Shawn’s arms.
Skylar calmly changed her shoes and, as she passed them, smiled and said, "Carry on."
After that, she went directly back to her room, hearing Shawn say, "Ignore her."
Honestly, seeing them being intimate, Skylar felt only a twinge of awkwardness, akin to accidentally witnessing an intimate scene in public, rather than the rage of seeing her husband cheat.
Because in her mind, she never considered Shawn her husband; she felt the most appropriate term to describe their relationship was that of housemates.
After Shannon Quinn returned home for the Qingming Festival, she started busying herself with moving.
She also talked to Liam Sterling about work. Although he was reluctant to see her leave, he knew she had her own life and choices, and he couldn’t interfere.
Hearing that she might get married soon, he felt a bit unwilling, but sincerely wished her happiness.
It was clear that the appearance of the child’s father brought changes to her and the child, a blood connection that no one could replace.
Aidan Lockwood was naturally welcoming of her returning to work.
Shannon Quinn was always grateful to have met such a great mentor and boss, who always supported her through everything.
On the moving day, although movers had been hired, Landon Sutton still came over to help out.
Watching the place where she had lived for years, as things got packed away one by one, slowly reverting to its original state when she first came, she felt a mix of emotions and a bit of reluctance.
Landon Sutton had already had the new place prepared; all that was needed was to organize the moved items to make it livable.
Leo’s studies couldn’t be neglected, and by the end of the weekend, he was in a new kindergarten.
Leo adapted well, getting along with new friends despite the changed environment.
After his first day, he was quite happy and said the new kindergarten was more fun than the previous one.
Catherine Yardley hadn’t come with them yet, worried about Julian Yardley and Sheila Yardley, so she stayed there.
Claire Wilde was preparing to apply to a university here, and if admitted, they’d come back together.
Susan Wilde didn’t know about Skylar Vance’s marriage yet, and Shannon Quinn hadn’t told her, fearing it might impact her college entrance exams.
After returning, Shannon Quinn didn’t get much rest before returning to work at Aidan Lockwood’s studio. Landon Sutton was initially against it, but finally agreed after her persistent persuasion.
During the day, they each busied themselves; in the evening, the family could sweetly gather together.
Life seemed peaceful; Shannon Quinn felt nothing else would go wrong, just waiting for Landon’s proposal and a suitable time for the wedding.
Unexpectedly, she ended up in the newspapers again as the top entertainment news story.
The newspaper suggested: The ex-wife of the Rhodes Family’s second son, Vincent Rhodes, suspected of having a new romance revealed.
It elaborated on her romantic partner being Landon Sutton of the Sutton Group, even posting photos from years ago comparing the times, suggesting that she and Landon Sutton were involved before her divorce, guessing him as her affair partner back then.
The analysis seemed well-founded, easily misleading those who didn’t know the truth.
Shannon Quinn couldn’t understand why this news suddenly emerged after she had reunited with Landon Sutton for such a long time.
Most comments below the news were critical of her; years ago, the news hadn’t identified her, but now they directly revealed her as a well-known fashion designer.
Her current situation was somewhat like Lynn Kendall’s back then, suffering reputational damage, with unavoidable impacts.
