CHAPTER 30: CHAPTER 30: TAILGATING

As soon as she reached the parking lot, she noticed a black car driving towards the exit in the distance.

Shannon Quinn quickly found her little Audi and without a second thought, followed it out.

She was particularly eager to find out what Vincent Rhodes had been up to all day, sneaking around doing things that couldn’t be seen.

She even suspected that he might have another identity, like a spy or undercover agent.

Feeling close to the truth, she was both thrilled and nervous, her hands sweating as she gripped the steering wheel.

The road was wide, but there were few cars on this stretch, only the two of them within hundreds of meters.

While worrying that following him like this might be too obvious, she saw the car in front suddenly pull over to the roadside, hazards blinking.

Shannon immediately slowed down and glanced around at the street scene, all hotels and nightclubs.

She watched the car door open, the driver got out, but Vincent Rhodes was nowhere to be seen.

Shannon thought she might have followed the wrong car, but suddenly saw the driver sprinting towards her.

She was ready to drive away, but the driver waved at her.

With a resigned smile, she rolled down the window and asked politely, "Mister, is there something wrong?"

The driver looked at her awkwardly and said, "Madam, the Second Young Master asked you to go back early to rest. It’s too late and not safe to wander outside."

Shannon: "..."

Turns out she was discovered long ago. For someone as shrewd as Vincent Rhodes, it would be strange if he hadn’t noticed her.

She quickly put away her smile and rolled up the window, reluctantly turning the car around.

She had thought Vincent Rhodes, despite his inconvenience, still had the mind to party, but then she watched in the rearview mirror as that car continued forward, destination unknown.

Back home, Shannon found herself tossing and turning, unable to sleep.

She wondered if she should find a way to have the police help her? Saying her husband was snatched away by a mistress and she couldn’t find him?

Just as she was thinking about these hopeless ideas, her phone near the bed suddenly buzzed with a text message alert.

She quickly grabbed her phone and saw a line of text: Put away your curiosity and rest early.

Shannon, feeling somewhat defeated, put down the phone. People are like this, the less they know about something, the more interested they become.

The mystery of the unknown always has a curious heart, but she didn’t have the capability.

Vincent Rhodes was sharper than she imagined.

Oh well, why does she care so much?

If he wants her to know something, he’ll naturally tell her. If he doesn’t want her to know, no matter how much she wants to investigate, it might be difficult.

Slept until dawn, not knowing what sort of confusing dreams she had, waking still feeling exhausted.

She drove to the studio, and hadn’t even entered the door when a bunch of gossipy eyes landed on her.

"Well, Shannon, haven’t seen you in a few days, already driving your Audi?"

Shannon replied with a smile: "I went to pick up the car these past few days."

Her salary could afford an Audi, so no one would say anything gossipy.

Although the studio people liked to gossip, they got along quite harmoniously.

Yara Hughes jokingly said, "Mr. Sutton accompanied you to pick it up, didn’t he? Or did he buy it for you?!"

Shannon gave Yara a look, and another person immediately chimed in: "If Landon Sutton were to buy, he’d definitely get something more luxurious. How could an Audi settle Shannon?"

"By the way, Mr. Sutton hasn’t been here for several days, doesn’t he come when Shannon doesn’t?"

"Can’t you guys stop?" Shannon rolled her eyes, "You have so much free time, I might have to talk to the boss to give you more work!"

"No, Shannon, we’re just joking, we won’t say anything again!"

Shannon returned to her office, finally having some peace and quiet. As long as Landon Sutton didn’t show up again, in a few days things would settle down.

Some things originally don’t mean much to her, but hearing those words really bothers her.

Just mentioning his name seemed to remind her of what happened that evening...

As those blurry fragments surfaced in her mind, Shannon quickly shook her head, got up to brew a cup of hot tea to calm herself.

She never knew if Vincent Rhodes truly knew what happened that night, or he just felt there was a sign and warned her.

Perhaps he kept her by his side for another reason? Marrying her not to make her a wife but for other reasons?

But her circle was that simple, so before marriage, she and Vincent Rhodes lived completely separate lives, with no interference. It’s really hard to imagine what he could gain from her.

"You’re here?" Aidan Lockwood stood at the doorway, casually greeting her.

Shannon nodded, stood up, and handed the folder with draft sketches to Aidan Lockwood, saying, "These are what I drew in the past few days, take a look and see if there are any problems."

Aidan Lockwood took the folder with a smile: "You’re already proficient now, still asking me to check? I trust your skills."

"It’s not like that. Sometimes more thoughts and suggestions from someone else are always good."

"Alright, I’ll take a look later. Is your cold better?"

Shannon paused for a moment then nodded, "After resting for so many days, I’m already fine."

Aidan Lockwood chuckled and said, "I heard the new car downstairs is yours?"

"...Yes, happens to have a friend in the car business."

"That’s great, makes commuting more convenient. Looks like no one will take my ride anymore," he joked, and Shannon laughed along.

"In a few days, there’s a fashion show in Eldoria, do you want to come along?"

"How many days would it be?"

"Possibly a week."

Shannon hesitated, saying, "I have a cat at home, a week is..."

Upon hearing that, Aidan Lockwood immediately said, "No worries, it’s not an important show. I’m just taking some students. If you can’t go, you can stay at the studio and manage things, which I’ll be more at ease with."

Shannon nodded, watching Aidan Lockwood walk out.

In truth, Aidan Lockwood always considers others beside him, whether as a boss, friend, or teacher, he’s always responsible.

But anyway, Vincent Rhodes has warned her already. She should maintain some distance from the opposite sex just to be safe.

During leisure time, she took out her phone browsing social media to kill time and saw an old high school classmate posting a set of photos, saying it was just past five in the morning, mother and daughter both safe, and included several baby pictures.

Speaking of which, that girl is even a year younger than her. She went to her wedding last year.
