CHAPTER 326: CHAPTER 326: SCANDAL

Warm liquid slid down the side of her face, dripping to the ground, blooming into dark red flowers with a metallic scent.

The scene before her darkened accompanied by ringing in her ears. She sat on the ground with her eyes closed for a long time before she slowly regained her sight and hearing.

Seeing the pool of blood on the ground, she raised her hand and realized there were fragments embedded in her palm. She reached up to hold her head, supported herself against the wall, stood up, and insisted on walking to the front door to have the security call an ambulance to take her to the hospital.

Before the ambulance arrived, Skylar Vance lost consciousness.

At the hospital, Shannon Quinn and Landon Sutton sat outside the operating room, waiting for Skylar Vance to come out.

Shannon Quinn leaned on Landon Sutton’s shoulder, murmuring, "Does your brother like Susan?"

"He never mentioned it to me."

Shannon Quinn pouted, complaining, "I even said I would introduce Susan to him, you told me not to meddle, look at what’s happened now, it’s all your fault."

Landon Sutton rolled his eyes at her: "In any case, everything is my fault."

"Hey, how about you call Shawn Rhodes? He might not know that Susan is injured."

"Do you think she was injured by accident?"

Hearing Landon Sutton’s words, Shannon Quinn was stunned and exclaimed, "Could it be Shawn who hit her?!"

"This is too much! It’s one thing that he keeps a mistress outside, but to lay hands on someone! Is there no law?!"

"Shawn, having been controlled by his parents for a long time and given so much hope, naturally had a lot of pressure, leading to a more irritable temper and somewhat extreme personality. He even tried to commit suicide when he was young."

"Really?"

"Later, his mother said that if he died, she would die with him. After a long period of psychological treatment, he slowly improved."

Shannon Quinn sighed again, "So later on, we must never force Leo to do things he doesn’t want to do. As long as he doesn’t harm anyone, let him pursue what he likes."

Landon Sutton joked, "Then who will inherit my business?"

"In that case, should we have more kids? There will always be one who likes this business."

"I have no objections, as long as you’re willing."

"Is there a family member for Susan?"

Shannon Quinn immediately stood up and walked over, "I’m her sister, how is she doing?"

"The wound received three stitches, currently, she’s fine, we’ll do another examination when she wakes up tomorrow. If all is well, she can be discharged."

"Thank you, doctor."

As the hospital required someone to stay over at night, Landon Sutton was naturally unwilling to let the pregnant Shannon Quinn take care of her friend. However, it was inconvenient for him, as a man, to take care of his wife’s girlfriend.

Upon hearing the news, Erin Bishop and Zane Rhodes came to the hospital, and Erin offered to stay with Susan overnight, letting Shannon Quinn go home and rest.

Early the next morning, Shannon Quinn brought breakfast and came to the hospital with Landon Sutton. Susan was awake and seemed to be in good spirits.

"Rona, you guys should go back and rest. I’m fine during the day, I’ll stay with Susan at the hospital."

Erin Bishop said, "I managed to sleep last night; he didn’t sleep much." As she spoke, she turned to Zane Rhodes and said, "You can go home."

Zane Rhodes took out his car keys and handed them to her, "I’ll leave the car with you, I’ll take Nate’s car."

"Alright, you two go ahead and take care of your business."

Landon Sutton gave Shannon Quinn several reminders before leaving with Zane Rhodes.

Susan sat by the bed, drinking the warm porridge Shannon Quinn had brought, feeling very grateful to have such two sisters.

"How did you know I was in the hospital?"

Erin Bishop pointed at Shannon Quinn, "Shannon told me."

Shannon Quinn paused and said, "Mr. Rhodes called and told me. I was about to sleep last night when Mr. Rhodes called Vincent, saying something had happened to you, and then the two of us rushed over."

Erin Bishop immediately asked, "Then how did Simon Rhodes find out?"

Susan wiped her mouth with a tissue and said, "He has friends in the hospital, they must have told him."

Shannon Quinn raised a question, "Are you two that close in private? He must care about your news, he must have informed the hospital in advance, right?"

Susan lowered her head and didn’t speak. Erin Bishop was puzzled, "Your relationships are so complicated, I’m a bit confused, isn’t Shawn your husband? Isn’t Simon Rhodes his uncle? How are you involved with Simon Rhodes?"

Susan lowered her eyes and softly said, "He said he likes me... but I’m already married, and in name, I have to call him uncle. Such a relationship would be a scandal if it got out."

Shannon Quinn took a breath and tentatively asked, "Does your injury... have anything to do with Shawn?"

"He saw my post last night and knew I was having dinner with Simon Rhodes. He was very angry. When he gets angry, he goes crazy. It’s lucky he didn’t kill me."

Erin Bishop said angrily, "I hate men who hit women the most! Divorce him! Just be with Simon Rhodes."

"Doesn’t Shawn like Rowan Alder? Why would he be angry even if you really went with Mr. Rhodes? Could it be that he has feelings for you?"

"Even if this kind of person likes you, you can’t stay with them. When they hit people, they don’t recognize family, and after hitting, they say they love you. Whoever wants to be with him can be, we don’t care."

Susan lowered her eyes slightly and changed the topic, speaking to Erin Bishop, "Rona, you mentioned yesterday that your friend has a house for rent, could you contact them for me? If possible, I’d like to move there in the next few days."

"Sure, I’ll ask for you. Moving out is a good idea, saves you from dealing with that kind of person."

Erin Bishop helped contact the landlord, who said it would take a couple of days to move out. Since they were acquaintances, the price was more reasonable. The house was in an upscale neighborhood with good environment and security, the main attraction being its proximity to the school.

After a check-up in the morning, Susan was discharged from the hospital in the afternoon.

She was somewhat reluctant to return, but had no other place to go.

Upon asking the security, she learned that Shawn hadn’t returned since leaving the previous night.

When she entered the house, there were still remnants of the chaos from last night on the floor.

The fragments and dried blood seemed to pull her back to the horrifying moment of last night.

The little kitten rubbed against her leg causing her to worry that the shards might hurt its paws, so Susan hurriedly cleaned the floor.

Having not been married to Shawn for long, she found herself in the hospital several times already. She thought he hit her not only because of his volatile temper. Surely he wouldn’t treat Rowan Alder the same way, or she wouldn’t be so devoted to him.

Perhaps resentment had already taken root in his heart against her, so that’s why his violence was so severe.

Maybe he really wanted her dead, so Rowan Alder wouldn’t have to endure this humiliation anymore.

Susan looked up information online about domestic violence lawsuits and divorce, but then remembered that Shawn, though not a direct heir of the Sterling Group, was still a member of the Rhodes Family. His power didn’t match Simon Rhodes’, but it greatly surpassed that of average people.

If the divorce didn’t go through, he might grow even angrier with her because of this.

After some thought, Susan quietly closed the search page.
