My Mysterious Hidden Husband
Chapter 362: We’ll See About That
CHAPTER 362: CHAPTER 362: WE’LL SEE ABOUT THAT
Joel Bellamy froze, and Shannon Quinn continued, "If you tell him the truth now, both he and I will think of you as a benefactor. When we meet again, there might even be a smile. But if you keep deceiving him until he recovers his memory and realizes the truth by himself, by then he might harbor resentment. Don’t you think that’s a bad bargain? We won’t even be able to be friends, let alone talk about life-saving kindness."
Joel Bellamy thought for a moment and said, "But what if he never remembers the past?"
Shannon Quinn lowered her gaze and smiled lightly, "Then do you think he likes you more now or me?"
Looking at Shannon Quinn’s confident smile, Joel Bellamy already knew the answer in her heart.
But the more it was like this, the more it triggered her competitive spirit.
Joel Bellamy stood up and left a sentence: "Then we’ll see."
Shannon Quinn appeared calm, but actually, she was uncertain inside.
She thought these words would make Joel Bellamy reconsider, but she didn’t expect her to ignore everything.
She knew Landon Sutton was still inclined towards her, but now Joel Bellamy was the one closest to him.
Even though Landon Sutton didn’t have romantic feelings for her, he still considered Joel Bellamy as family.
To make him leave Joel Bellamy and go with her without recalling anything was clearly impossible.
Thinking back to Joel Bellamy’s words, "What if he never remembers the past," Shannon Quinn felt a bit unsure.
She had consulted with doctors and looked up relevant information.
The time for memory recovery could be long or short; some might even forget forever.
If there were no Joel Bellamy, she might have been able to use storytelling to fill in Landon Sutton’s forgotten memories, allowing them to live as before.
But with Joel Bellamy’s interference, Landon Sutton’s memories were likely mixed up, not knowing what’s true or false.
In the evening, Shannon Quinn sent a message to Landon Sutton, hoping he could find time to come over tomorrow night.
But she didn’t mention that Leo was coming.
Leo still didn’t know about his father’s current situation.
The family had been keeping it from the child; he only thought his parents were playing around, traveling everywhere but not staying home with him.
The next morning, Simon Rhodes set off with Leo, arriving here later in the afternoon, around four o’clock.
Children grow so much during this time, and after just a few days, he seemed taller.
"Mom." Leo called Shannon Quinn and rushed into the house. After looking around and not seeing his father, he turned to Shannon Quinn and asked, "Where’s Dad?"
Shannon Quinn laughed and said, "Dad’s gone out, but he’ll be back later."
She wanted to invite Landon Sutton for dinner, but he said he would come after eating dinner.
Waiting from dusk till dark.
Leo was almost unable to stay awake, and Shannon Quinn couldn’t help but text him.
He replied: On my way.
It seemed like he quietly came out only after Joel Bellamy fell asleep.
There were no street lights in the village; after dark, it was pitch black everywhere.
Fortunately, the weather was good today; the moon was bright, and the stars were dazzling.
Shannon Quinn stood on the rooftop, staring at the mountain slope. After some time, she finally saw a small light moving toward her.
From the moment she saw the light, nearly ten minutes passed before Landon Sutton arrived.
Everyone was waiting for him to come, and Leo held on without going to sleep.
He was the first to rush down to open the door for Landon Sutton.
After opening the door, he threw himself in front of Landon Sutton, hugging his waist with some effort due to his height.
"Dad!"
Leo’s shout of "Dad" brought a tear to Shannon Quinn’s eyes. Standing not far away, she watched the father and son, thinking back to the time when Landon Sutton had his accident. She often wondered if such scenes would ever happen again.
After Leo rushed up, usually his dad would lift him up and hug him, but this time there was no movement.
The child looked up at Landon Sutton in confusion, while Landon Sutton looked at him without any emotional fluctuation.
"Dad, what’s wrong with you?"
Shannon Quinn quickly stepped forward to ease the situation, "Dad’s tired, and you’re not a little kid anymore. You can’t be held by Dad anymore. Now, lead Dad into the house."
After saying that, Shannon Quinn glanced at Landon Sutton, her eyes pleading, as if telling him not to destroy the child’s beautiful world.
Landon Sutton didn’t say anything, and when Leo held his hand and walked him into the house, he didn’t resist.
Leo had always been close to his dad; after not seeing him for so long, he was like super glue.
After Landon Sutton sat down, Leo insisted on sitting on his lap. Shannon Quinn was worried Landon Sutton would resist, but he paused and then wrapped an arm around the child.
The atmosphere turned a little awkward, with Leo present, no one dared to speak carelessly.
Shannon Quinn was cautious the whole time, fearing Leo would notice anything.
But luckily, Landon Sutton, though not as enthusiastic as before, wasn’t too distant with Leo either. When the kid talked to him, he answered softly and warmly.
"It’s getting late, Dad is tired, and Leo, weren’t you saying you’re sleepy? Go to sleep with Uncle."
Leo shook his head, "I want to sleep with Dad."
Shannon Quinn hesitated, glancing at Landon Sutton’s expression. He looked at Shannon Quinn, then picked up Leo.
Shannon Quinn understood and led the father and son upstairs.
Leo happily jumped onto the bed. This bed couldn’t compare to the one at home; the hard bed board made him frown.
If it were only Shannon Quinn, he might endure, but with Landon Sutton around, Leo liked to act spoiled and shout about pain.
Landon Sutton was worried the child might have actually fallen, so he stepped forward to check.
Shannon Quinn stood nearby, smiling at the father and son.
It seemed not much different from before.
Leo patted the bed and said to them, "Mom and Dad, hurry up and come sleep!"
Shannon Quinn and Landon Sutton exchanged glances; she didn’t move while Landon Sutton paused, took off his coat, and lay beside the child.
Shannon Quinn said, "The bed is too small; you sleep with Dad, and Mom will sleep next door."
As long as Dad was there, Mom didn’t matter. Leo nodded decisively, "Then Mom, you rest early too."
Shannon Quinn smiled, waited until Landon Sutton covered the child with a blanket, then turned off the bedroom lights and closed the door.
After leaving the room, she didn’t return to rest but stood by the railing, waiting for Landon Sutton to come out.
The child was already tired; once he laid down, he fell asleep.
Once Landon Sutton saw the child was deep asleep, he walked out from the room and wasn’t surprised to see Shannon Quinn standing by the railing.
"Is he asleep?" Shannon Quinn turned and asked with a smile.
Landon Sutton nodded, walked to the railing, and stood beside her, "Why didn’t you tell me in advance the child was coming?"
Shannon Quinn’s smile turned bitter, "I thought you might remember something seeing the child suddenly."
Landon Sutton was silent, "Sorry."
Shannon Quinn shook her head, "It’s not your fault, I know you have a lot on your mind right now."
