My Mysterious Hidden Husband
Chapter 365: Joel Bellamy Is in Trouble
CHAPTER 365: CHAPTER 365: JOEL BELLAMY IS IN TROUBLE
Shannon Quinn sighed. Honestly, she didn’t want to see Joel Bellamy in this state, but the girl just wouldn’t figure things out and kept heading into a dead end.
They walked through the mountain road, and their brother drove them to the pier, like a family going on a vacation.
Leo hadn’t gone out to play much, so he was excited about the boat ride, especially with both his mom and dad accompanying him.
As they boarded the ferry and the ship was about to depart, Shannon Quinn’s phone rang. It was a call from the other brother at home, though it was probably Ronan Rhodes using that brother’s phone to call.
Shannon Quinn pressed the answer button, and before she could ask what was going on, Ronan’s anxious voice came from the other end of the line, "Something’s wrong, sis-in-law, that girl cut her wrist!"
Shannon Quinn was stunned, "What happened? Didn’t I ask you to take her home?"
Ronan: "Yes! I just dropped her off at home, and she came out of the house with a fruit knife demanding me to call Master Nate back. I thought she was just trying to scare me, but who knew she really went through with it? What do we do now?!"
Shannon Quinn was aware that the village was remote, and Joel’s house was at the far edge, so finding a doctor in this situation was unrealistic.
"Calm her down first, stop the bleeding, and let me ask Nate what to do."
Landon Sutton, sitting next to Shannon Quinn, asked her, "What’s wrong?"
Shannon Quinn pursed her lips and whispered, "Ronan says Miss Bellamy... cut her wrist, and she wants you to go back."
Landon Sutton and Simon Rhodes both furrowed their brows.
Shannon Quinn’s phone buzzed again. Ronan had sent a picture showing Joel in a visibly agitated state, with blood still dripping from her hand.
Seeing this, Landon Sutton couldn’t sit still. No matter what, nobody wished for a loss of life.
Shannon Quinn also felt a bit uneasy and after a pause said to Landon Sutton, "Nate, why don’t you go back first. Make sure Miss Bellamy is alright before saying anything further. She’s quite upset right now; I’m afraid something might happen."
Landon Sutton was also conflicted, "Then what about you..."
Shannon Quinn: "I’m fine, it’s not the first time I’ve gone for a check-up. I’ll come back after I finish. You should go quickly, otherwise the ship will set sail soon."
Landon Sutton sighed and stood up, "Be safe on the road, keep in touch by phone."
Shannon Quinn nodded, "Yes, you should hurry."
Landon Sutton quickly left the ship. Leo, sitting next to Simon Rhodes, looked confusedly in the direction Landon Sutton left and asked Shannon Quinn, "Where’s Daddy going?"
Shannon Quinn forced a smile and said, "Daddy has something to take care of."
Leo: "The ship is about to leave, will Daddy make it back?"
Shannon Quinn: "Daddy won’t be coming with us this time. When Leo goes on vacation next time, Uncle will bring you here to play."
Leo’s mood took a downturn, focusing on the direction where Landon Sutton left, and he stopped speaking.
Shannon Quinn felt bad too, but in these circumstances, she could tell what was more important.
At least going there was alright, she still had Mr. Rhodes and the child for company.
Once in the city, Simon Rhodes took Leo to the airport, while Shannon Quinn took a cab to the hospital.
Perhaps if Landon Sutton hadn’t offered to accompany her from the start, she wouldn’t have felt so lost while waiting alone at the hospital for the check-up results.
The feeling of anticipation falling short is the most damaging.
The doctor said that the fetus was somewhat underdeveloped compared to what would be normal for this stage, advising her to pay more attention to her diet and rest. The doctor also asked if she’d been under a lot of stress recently, and suggested she relax her mind and not think about too many things.
After the check-up, heading back alone felt emptier inside.
Just as she got on the boat, Shannon Quinn received a message from Landon Sutton, asking about her situation over there. She simply replied: The doctor said it’s nothing serious, don’t worry.
Immediately after, she sent another message: How is Miss Bellamy?
Landon Sutton: Her uncle, who’s a doctor in the village, was called to take a look, there’s no major issue.
Shannon Quinn breathed a sigh of relief.
Another message popped up: What time do you get to the pier? I’ll come pick you up.
Shannon Quinn had already typed in a time in the reply box, but after thinking it over, she deleted it and replied: No need, Miss Bellamy’s emotions are probably still unstable, you shouldn’t be running around.
Landon Sutton kept chatting with her the whole way, but Shannon Quinn felt a bit seasick looking at her phone while on the boat, replied a few times then said she’d chat after disembarking.
Leaning back on the cold window with her eyes closed, she thought how nice it would be if he were next to her at this time.
At least she could have a warm shoulder to lean on and fall asleep.
After a tiring afternoon, by the time she got back to the pier, it was already late.
Ronan Rhodes was the one who came to pick her up.
In the car, Ronan started complaining about Joel wrist cutting, "I’ve seen my share of big and small storms in my life, but I got frightened by a little girl this time."
Shannon Quinn laughed and said, "If it wasn’t for the wound being on the wrist, I’d almost suspect it was you who attacked her."
Ronan followed with a tease, "Then I would have done something huge for your and Nate’s lifelong happiness."
Shannon Quinn: "I really didn’t expect her to be so extreme."
Ronan: "That girl is quite cunning! Just wanted to scare people, didn’t expect she’d really attempt suicide, didn’t cut deep at all, if her skin were thicker, it’d just be a minor surface wound, plus she knew her uncle was a doctor and could get there in time, only then did she dare to do it."
Shannon Quinn: "As long as nothing happened, that’s good."
Ronan: "I almost want something to happen, I’m most afraid of dealing with difficult women."
After going back, Shannon Quinn sat at home, drank a glass of water, and then had Ronan take her over the mountain to Joel’s house.
At the door, she saw Landon Sutton standing outside smoking, unclear whether Simon Rhodes or Ronan had given him the cigarette.
Seeing Shannon Quinn arrive, he instinctively put out the cigarette.
"Coming over so late."
Shannon Quinn: "Not reassured about Miss Bellamy, came to check on her."
Landon Sutton: "Nothing major now, but what about you, aren’t you tired after a day of running around?"
Shannon Quinn smiled and shook her head, "It’s alright, mostly sitting in the car and on the boat, not much walking. Which room is she in?"
Landon Sutton turned around, leading Shannon Quinn to Joel’s door and pushed open the wooden door, revealing a small wooden bed. Joel was lying flat on it, the hand outside the blanket clearly showing bandaged wrists.
She wasn’t asleep. When the door opened and she saw the person was Shannon Quinn, she showed a look of displeasure, "What are you here for?"
Shannon Quinn, being gracious, didn’t mind and simply said, "Came to check on you."
Joel snorted a laugh, "Check on me? Check if I’m dead or not?"
Shannon Quinn: "You’re still young and don’t understand the value of life."
Joel: "I don’t need you to teach me!"
Shannon Quinn chuckled, sitting by the bedside, while Landon Sutton stood behind her. The scene made Joel feel another wave of jealousy.
Before Shannon Quinn could say anything, Joel said to Landon Sutton, "Brother, make her go away, I don’t want to see her!"
