My Mysterious Hidden Husband
Chapter 367: Serve Him for a Lifetime
CHAPTER 367: CHAPTER 367: SERVE HIM FOR A LIFETIME
Shannon Quinn reached out to tuck the strands of hair blown onto her cheek behind her ear, a simple gesture that made Seth Fairchild lose his focus for a moment.
"You didn’t come to find me so late at night just to talk about life, did you?"
Seth openly stared at Shannon: "Would you believe me if I said I came to persuade you to switch jobs?"
Shannon: "Don’t joke around with me, I actually know you’re quite upright."
Seth: "Because I saved you?"
Shannon: "Yes, that was an instinctive reaction you had in a critical moment."
Seth chuckled: "Haven’t you thought that maybe I deliberately saved only you and not Landon Sutton?"
Shannon: "I know from the circumstances at the time that you couldn’t save him. Maybe you really didn’t want to save him in your heart, but if you could have reached him, you definitely would have lent a hand to help."
Seth laughed softly to himself, "Should I say you know me, or you don’t?"
Shannon: "I don’t know what grudges you have with Landon Sutton, but I think..."
Halfway through her sentence, Seth suddenly stood up and bent over to her face.
"What are you doing?!" Shannon exclaimed, leaning back slightly to distance herself from Seth.
Seth smiled deviously: "Nothing, I thought there was something on your face, I was mistaken."
After speaking, he leisurely sat back in his place.
Shannon was puzzled, because she didn’t see Landon Sutton walking towards her from the direction of the mountain.
However, from Landon’s perspective, it seemed Seth had gotten up to kiss Shannon.
The secluded night in the pavilion, a man and a woman sitting and talking, it’s easy to let one’s imagination run wild.
Landon had climbed the mountain late at night, intending to see her and have a few words, but unexpectedly saw this scene.
In his heart, he couldn’t tell if it was frustration or a surge of jealousy, so he turned and left.
If it were the old him, he wouldn’t have walked away quietly like an aggrieved wife. Instead, he’d have gone up to beat up Seth and then scolded Shannon for associating with him.
However, now, the amnesia has left him confused and uneasy, and the trust he painstakingly built with Shannon made him reevaluate everything again in his heart.
On the way back, he was pondering whether Joel and Shannon’s words were half-truths.
Is Shannon really, as Joel said, a capricious woman?
Watching Landon’s figure disappear into the night, Seth stood up, "Let’s head back, come again tomorrow. You should get some rest, too."
Shannon: "If there’s nothing tomorrow, you better not come."
Seth smiled but said nothing, standing up to adjust his clothes before turning to leave.
After Seth left, Shannon sat alone in the pavilion for a few minutes.
During those few minutes, she looked back at the mountain path several times.
Seeing the night deep and the mountains silent, he probably won’t come.
She scratched at a mosquito bite on her foot, then got up and returned to her room.
The first thing she did upon waking the next morning was pick up the phone from beside her pillow.
She lit up the screen and scrolled through the notification bar twice, confirming that there were only ad notifications and no text messages from Landon.
Seeing that it was already past eight, he should have been up by now.
Feeling puzzled, Shannon sent him a message to inquire.
After breakfast, she checked her phone again but still had no reply.
Shannon wondered if Joel had caused some trouble, or if his phone had been discovered by Joel?
Considering that Joel had just caused a scene yesterday, it was probably right to give Landon some time to deal with it.
He did say that once things with Joel were resolved, he would go back with her.
So even though Shannon really wanted to find Landon, she held back and didn’t disturb him.
Sitting on a cluster of rocks by the seaside, Landon was on a higher rock, smoking a cigarette, his gaze distant.
Joel came out of the house, standing under the eaves, and watched Landon’s lonely figure from afar.
Mrs. Bellamy glanced in the same direction as Joel and said, "Why are you out here? Go back inside and rest."
Joel frowned, a bit restless, "Mom, I’m fine!"
Mrs. Bellamy: "If you’re fine, then you can go on a blind date later!"
Joel: "I’m not going."
Mrs. Bellamy looked at Landon: "Look at him, idling around every day as it is, and he looks depressed, clearly unhealthy, can’t even help out at home. Do you expect to take care of him for life?"
Joel promptly replied: "I would gladly take care of him for life!"
Mrs. Bellamy: "A girl shouldn’t be so unreserved!"
Joel: "Who says girls must be reserved?"
Mrs. Bellamy: "I think it’s best to find a way to contact his family and have them take him back!"
Joel’s eyes flickered; she hadn’t told her family that Landon’s family had already come looking for him.
Joel simply said: "Where would we even start looking? We don’t even know where he came from."
Mrs. Bellamy: "Next time your father goes to sea, have him take Landon to the local police station."
"No way!" Joel immediately refused and then tried to persuade her mother, "Mom, you’ve always wanted me to get married, right? Now that I want to, just choose an auspicious day and arrange the wedding. Hayden Bellamy is a good man, and I’m sure I’ll have a good life with him!"
Mrs. Bellamy: "How good could it be? Always staying in this small fishing port?"
Joel: "If I can be with him, I’d be happy even staying here my whole life!"
After saying this, Joel happily ran towards where Landon was sitting.
Mrs. Bellamy sighed in exasperation.
As she neared Landon, Joel slowed down, cautiously approaching him and sitting on another rock beside him. She glanced at him sideways, whispering, "Brother, did you remember something?"
Landon slightly turned his head to look at Joel, his voice a bit hoarse as he spoke, "No."
Joel: "Mom said you’ve been sitting here all morning, do you have something on your mind?"
Landon shook his head: "No, just wanted to feel the breeze."
Joel looked at him, skeptical. She could sense he was hiding something, but since he wasn’t willing to tell, she didn’t press further, just calmly sat beside him in silence.
After finishing the remaining half of the cigarette, Landon turned his head to Joel and said, "You should go back inside and rest."
Joel: "I’m fine now. The doctor said there’s no major issue."
Landon glanced at the white bandage still wrapped around her wrist, "Don’t do such foolish things again."
