CHAPTER 380: CHAPTER 380: AFTER THE DIVORCE

Shannon Quinn smiled faintly and said, "As long as he’s okay."

Simon Rhodes: "Grandpa has been in contact with a psychologist to help with his memory recovery. We all hope he gets better soon."

Shannon Quinn nodded: "Yes, it’s best if he can come back."

Although Shannon Quinn doesn’t like the current Landon Sutton, she is well aware that he is different from before. She shouldn’t blame him for things he did during his memory loss.

If he regains his memory and recalls the lost child and what he said now, the saddest and most remorseful person would undoubtedly be himself.

She doesn’t want to see him upset or remorseful, and she hopes he can quickly regain his memory and that the family can reunite.

No more continuing down the wrong path.

As Simon Rhodes was about to leave, he hesitated several times before speaking, "You seem to have a good relationship with Skylar, right?"

Shannon Quinn looked at Simon Rhodes with confusion and nodded.

Simon Rhodes: "Actually, I came to ask for your help. I suppose you know about my feelings for Skylar."

Shannon Quinn: "Skylar has mentioned it to me."

Simon Rhodes: "Really? What did she say?"

Shannon Quinn: "You also know her current situation. Shawn treats her poorly, and she wants to divorce, but given your special status, she has many concerns. She might not easily agree to your pursuit."

Simon Rhodes: "That’s why I’m asking for your help. I hope you can persuade her. Whatever she worries about, I’ll handle it. I heard that sometimes a word from a close friend can be more effective than what we could say."

Shannon Quinn nodded: "I’ll talk to her later."

Simon Rhodes: "Thank you, I’ll be on my way."

Shannon Quinn understands Simon Rhodes’ character. Putting aside the complex relationship, she naturally hopes Susan Wilde can break away from Shawn and be with Simon.

But she also realizes that Simon’s identity is complicated. Her marriage to Shawn is plainly visible in the business circle, so keeping it under wraps is impossible.

Simon Rhodes is Shawn’s uncle. If Susan Wilde remarries Simon Rhodes, external suspicions and criticisms would be inevitable.

If she were in the same position, Shannon would also find it difficult to make a decision.

The divorce might happen, but she wouldn’t choose to be with her husband’s uncle after.

Just as Susan Wilde was about to visit Shannon Quinn with Erin Bishop in the afternoon, Shannon seized the opportunity during their chat to bring up the matter.

Shannon Quinn: "Skylar, you’re moving to your mother-in-law’s house tomorrow?"

Susan Wilde nodded: "Tomorrow morning."

Erin Bishop while munching on seeds: "What exactly is your situation now? In this day and age, does he still want to have two wives? I saw Rowan Alder with a big belly at the hospital the other day; she seems about to give birth. Now he wants you to move back in together, what is he thinking? Does he want you to have another child with him?"

Susan Wilde immediately said, "He’s dreaming. He wouldn’t do that, and I won’t be that foolish. Divorce is just a matter of time. I imagine there’s some contract with the Wilde Family that hasn’t been sorted. I guess once Rowan Alder’s child is born, the divorce will proceed."

Shannon Quinn nodded: "Given Rowan Alder’s character, even if you don’t proceed, she won’t simply sit idle waiting."

Susan Wilde: "Exactly. Shawn wouldn’t let her and their child suffer any injustice. I guess the divorce will happen in a month or two. Right now, I’m just playing along with him in front of his parents."

Erin Bishop: "I’m worried about you being with him, that he might lay hands on you again."

Susan Wilde: "No, this time I’m staying with his parents. Even if he dislikes me, he has to endure it."

Shannon Quinn naturally shifted the topic to Simon Rhodes: "What are your plans after the divorce?"

Susan Wilde: "After the divorce, I’ll just live my own life. Iris is now studying here, my job here is quite stable, and without ties to the Rhodes Family, there will be fewer complications."

Shannon Quinn: "I mean, regarding emotional matters."

Erin Bishop promptly joined in: "Yeah, I’ve seen you and Simon Rhodes together quite often lately, having meals together several times. Is there something going on between you two?"

Susan Wilde blushed slightly. With her close friends, she had fewer reservations and spoke openly: "I’m not sure right now. He has said not to overthink things, just that if I agree to be with him, he would handle everything else."

Erin Bishop: "If I were you, I’d agree. Simon Rhodes is someone Shannon has interacted with for the longest. Shannon, what’s your opinion?"

Shannon Quinn asked Susan Wilde: "Skylar, do you like him?"

Susan Wilde lowered her gaze, pursed her lips, and after a moment of silence, shyly nodded: "But I’m just afraid it might bring a lot of trouble for him."

Shannon Quinn: "Since you both like each other, if there are any troubles afterward, you can face them together. It’s not fair for you or him to give up trying and striving due to fear."

Susan Wilde seriously contemplated Shannon Quinn’s words, indeed finding great encouragement.

She has been lacking the courage to face all of this. She considered that more people might hurl insults at her, yet she believed she should bear the slander to live well without paying mind to others’ critiques.

But more than anything, she worries about the impact on Simon Rhodes, which might not just be mere insults. Negative views about him from outside would directly affect the company’s image, and the losses and cost wouldn’t be small.

Erin Bishop: "Skylar, I also think Shannon is right. If you both like each other, any problems that arise later can be resolved together. Besides, your marriage with Shawn was just in name; he’s been affectionate with his first love even while married, and their child is almost born. You’ve honored the marriage, and pursuing your love post-divorce isn’t wrong."

Susan Wilde took a deep breath contemplating, then resolutely nodded: "After the divorce, I’ll agree to be with him."

Truthfully, she initially had no untoward intentions towards Simon Rhodes, even though he was quite assertive in pursuing her, she hadn’t thought of marrying him back then.

But gradually, his persistence and attentiveness, and those promises, shook her firm resolve.

If it were someone else, Susan Wilde might caution herself: Men’s words are deceiving, never believe those grand promises.

Yet his promises carry a sort of magic, a magic that makes them deeply believable.

It feels like whatever he says, he’ll surely make it happen.
