My Mysterious Hidden Husband
Chapter 396: Who Was That Man?
CHAPTER 396: CHAPTER 396: WHO WAS THAT MAN?
A whole box of porridge, Shannon Quinn originally thought he wouldn’t finish it, but now it’s completely eaten.
Landon Sutton picked up a napkin to wipe his mouth, and asked Shannon Quinn, who was sitting beside him: "When we were together before, who cooked at home?"
Shannon Quinn replied with irritation: "Ordered takeout."
Landon Sutton: "Every day?"
Shannon Quinn put away her phone, looked up at him, and said with a smile: "Not really, sometimes I’d make instant noodles or something for you. You used to love instant noodles."
Hearing "instant noodles," Landon Sutton frowned, unable to believe he used to like such a thing.
Shannon Quinn stood up and asked him: "Want to eat some now? I can go to the supermarket downstairs and buy you a pack."
Landon Sutton: "What’s so good about that stuff?"
Shannon Quinn just smiled without saying anything, thinking he had forgotten everything in his mind, but some of his habits and preferences were still the same as before.
After cleaning the box, she was ready to leave, but Landon Sutton stopped her: "Wait a bit before you go. I need to be discharged, and a family member needs to sign."
Shannon Quinn stopped to look at him, thinking his walking wasn’t a problem, so she didn’t hold back, just saying: "I’m not your family member."
Landon Sutton: "Legally speaking, it’s fine."
Shannon Quinn was stunned, and Landon Sutton added: "Isn’t it clearly written on the marriage certificate?"
Shannon Quinn listened, somewhat angry, but still smiled and said: "So when are you planning to divorce me after I’ve cheated on you?"
Landon Sutton: "You cheated on me?"
Shannon Quinn’s smile turned a bit cold: "That child might not even be yours, so do you think I cheated on you?"
Landon Sutton then realized she was bringing up old issues.
The apology reached his lips but he swallowed it back.
Just then, Landon Sutton’s attending physician came to check in.
After examining him and preparing to leave, Landon Sutton requested discharge.
The doctor advised a few words, but Landon Sutton insisted on leaving, so the doctor just explained the home care instructions and allowed him to proceed with discharge.
Shannon Quinn walked him downstairs, and he continued to act, but Shannon Quinn never held him, walking quickly ahead by herself.
From the large glass doors of the hospital entrance, he could be seen carrying a cane, following her hurried steps.
When she stopped, he immediately planted the cane on the ground.
When she turned around, she saw him hobbling and looking somewhat resentful at her.
As if complaining she mistreated the patient.
Shannon Quinn turned back only to say to him: "You can get a taxi back yourself."
Landon Sutton frowned: "Didn’t you drive here?"
Shannon Quinn: "It’s not on the way."
Landon Sutton: "Drive me over first."
Shannon Quinn: "That’s too much trouble. If you don’t have money for a taxi, I can give you some money later."
After speaking, Shannon Quinn walked out of the hospital and soon flagged down a car for him at the side of the road.
Landon Sutton sat into the car with a stern face, watching Shannon Quinn give fifty yuan to the driver and say: "Just give him the change later."
The driver nodded, and Shannon Quinn shut the car door, heading back to her own car.
Landon Sutton’s gaze followed her through the car window.
The driver turned to ask him: "Buddy, where to?"
Landon Sutton watched as Shannon Quinn’s car drove out, eyes fixed on her car, responding: "Follow her."
The driver looked at Landon Sutton in surprise, then started the car, following Shannon Quinn’s car.
Shannon Quinn went straight home, not daring to delay.
Mom was sending Leo to school, then going to the supermarket to buy food, probably almost back by now.
Shannon Quinn had to get home before Mom returned, or she’d face a round of scolding.
The car stopped in front of the house, and seeing a man standing by the door, Shannon Quinn got out and asked him: "What? Are you here to deliver swallow’s nest again?"
Seth Fairchild smiled and stepped closer: "Finished it already?"
Shannon Quinn: "Can’t eat it."
Seth Fairchild: "Then what do you want to eat? I’ll take you out for lunch?"
Shannon Quinn eyed him suspiciously, thinking he had ulterior motives.
"If you have something to say, just say it straight, don’t beat around the bush."
Seth Fairchild chuckled and said: "If I really had something to say, I wouldn’t come here to find you. I just came because I’m free and wanted to keep you company, seeing you cooped up at home all day, afraid you’d get bored."
Shannon Quinn snorted lightly, laughing as she asked him: "Can I take that as you pursuing me?"
Seth Fairchild looked down at her, his smile slightly less serious: "You can interpret it that way."
If this were at the beginning of her romantic feelings, Shannon Quinn might have felt shy and awkward at this moment, but she was no longer the girl in the early days of romance: "Don’t think I don’t know what you’re up to — you just want to use me to torment Landon Sutton, right? I’m not falling for it, so don’t waste your time."
Seth Fairchild: "What if I really do like you?"
Shannon Quinn purposely gave him a dazzling smile: "If you stop doing harmful things, I might like you too."
Seth Fairchild’s smile remained unchanged: "He doesn’t even remember you. What are you holding on to?"
Shannon Quinn: "When you truly fall in love with someone, you’ll understand."
Seth Fairchild: "How do you truly fall in love with someone?"
Shannon Quinn: "You’ll know when you meet that person. I’m not wasting any more words on you, just leave quickly."
After speaking, Shannon Quinn ignored Seth Fairchild and directly opened the door to enter, leaving Seth Fairchild outside.
Seth Fairchild stood at the door for a while, then drove away.
In the distant taxi, the driver impatiently asked again: "Where should I drop you off?"
Landon Sutton looked even more displeased, pushed open the taxi door, and left.
"I haven’t given you your change yet!"
Landon Sutton acted as if he hadn’t heard, walked straight to the door, and rang the bell.
"Mom, didn’t you bring the keys when you went out? I said..." He stopped mid-sentence when he opened the door and saw the man standing at the door, surprised.
"What are you doing here?"
Landon Sutton said nothing, and directly headed into the room.
"What are you doing?!"
Though using a cane, Landon Sutton moved quickly.
Sitting on the sofa, he glared at Shannon Quinn angrily.
Shannon Quinn felt a bit puzzled, glanced at him, closed the door, and walked over to him.
Without waiting for her to ask, he spoke first: "Who is that man?"
Shannon Quinn paused and then understood that since he had followed her here, he must have seen Seth Fairchild, and was naturally asking about him.
At that moment, seeing him looking like a jealous husband, Shannon Quinn almost believed he had regained his memory.
But if he had been his old self, he wouldn’t get jealous over Seth Fairchild; he would have chased Seth Fairchild away if he saw him near, instead of running here to confront her.
"Answer me!" Landon Sutton emphasized, dissatisfied with her silence.
Shannon Quinn was also annoyed and replied: "It’s none of your business."
