My Mysterious Hidden Husband
Chapter 441: Clingy One
CHAPTER 441: CHAPTER 441: CLINGY ONE
"Shannon, I’m really envious of you and Boss Sutton, even after so many years of marriage, you both are still so sweet." A female colleague leaned over and said enviously.
Shannon Quinn put away her phone, with a smile still lingering on her face from the chat earlier, she said, "He’s just a clingy guy."
"I really can’t see it, Boss Sutton always gives off a cold vibe. It’s hard to imagine him being clingy."
"Oh, him, he’s got two different sides in public and in private."
"Shannon, the chicken wings are ready, come and eat." Aidan Lockwood called out to Shannon Quinn.
Jasper Sutton was sitting by the table, looking down at his phone.
When Shannon Quinn and Aidan Lockwood went over, he quietly put his phone away and started talking with Aidan about work.
Shannon Quinn followed them and had a glass of red wine, then reminded herself of Landon Sutton’s advice and didn’t touch her glass again.
"Speaking of which, a woman came to my company for an interview a few days ago. You should know her," Jasper Sutton said.
Shannon Quinn asked curiously, "Who?"
Jasper Sutton took a sip from his wine glass and said calmly, "You have quite a history with her."
Upon hearing this, Shannon Quinn thought of someone: "Lynn Kendall?"
Jasper Sutton nodded.
"Did you hire her?"
Jasper Sutton: "How could I dare? Just because I’m not involved in the inner circle doesn’t mean I don’t know what’s going on. I wouldn’t hire someone with poor character."
Aidan Lockwood: "She ruined her own future. Although in the past she couldn’t compare to Shannon, she had her own style, and a niche fan base. Her mistake was being greedy and trying to pass off Shannon’s work as her own."
Shannon Quinn: "I heard from Alden and the others that she isn’t in this field anymore and changes a big boss every day. I don’t know if that’s true."
Aidan Lockwood: "That’s why, from the outset, I felt she wasn’t on the same path as us. She was too vain. When she was in the company, it felt like chaos."
Shannon Quinn: "Let’s not talk about her anymore. By the way, when my husband and I went for prenatal check-ups the other day, we saw your sister, and she didn’t seem in great spirits. As her brother, you should pay more attention to her."
"You saw her at the hospital? Is she sick?"
Shannon Quinn shook her head: "I don’t know, I just saw her from afar and didn’t say hello. She just seemed in a down mood."
Jasper Sutton pondered something, paused, and asked, "Was she alone?"
"Yes, I didn’t see anyone with her."
Jasper Sutton: "Didn’t she say she found a boyfriend?"
Shannon Quinn wanted to say how unreliable Ronan Rhodes was, but considering Jasper Sutton is Charlotte’s brother, mentioning it would complicate things. She didn’t know how far they had progressed and didn’t want to ruin anything.
So, she hurriedly changed her words: "I was also puzzled why she was at the hospital alone, maybe her boyfriend was busy. It’s best for you as her brother to communicate with her more."
Jasper Sutton smiled and just said, "I’ll call her later to ask."
In fact, he didn’t have her phone number anymore.
She had changed it many times because each time he found her number, she immediately changed it after he called, so he stopped calling.
He tried to offer her a peaceful and free life, at least when there were no other men around her, he could do that without interference.
But as soon as he learned she might belong to someone else, he realized he couldn’t ignore it internally.
He minded very much.
It felt like something that belonged to him was being taken away.
He didn’t want to treat her the way he did three years ago, but he didn’t know what else he could do to prevent her from being with someone else.
On the other side of the beach, by the dessert stand, Charlotte Sheffield and Ronan Rhodes were sitting on an open-air balcony, eating desserts and chatting, feeling the sea breeze.
Since learning about Charlotte’s illness, Ronan Rhodes had become much more caring and considerate, almost treating Charlotte as someone who couldn’t manage on her own.
"Charlotte, look over there."
Charlotte Sheffield looked in the direction he pointed, seeing a photography team taking wedding photos of a couple.
Seeing Charlotte leaning on her chin looking over there, Ronan Rhodes said, "Shall we go take a set too?"
Charlotte thought about it, now she could still walk and run, capturing a beautiful wedding photo as a memento for later seemed good.
Otherwise, when her condition worsens, with muscle atrophy, and deformed limbs, she might not want to take any photos anymore.
"But we didn’t prepare anything."
Ronan Rhodes stood up and said with a smile, "As long as we have money, I’ll go talk to them. You stay here and don’t move."
Charlotte nodded, watching Ronan stride over to the photography team, chat with the person in charge, and return within a few minutes, giving her an "OK" gesture: "It’s settled. We’ll shoot tomorrow evening when it’s not so hot."
"What about the cost? Outdoor shoots aren’t cheap, right?"
"Oh, Charlotte, I’m almost thirty, made money for decades, if I don’t spend it on you, who would I spend it on?"
Charlotte laughed but deliberately teased him: "You smooth talker, no wonder you can trick so many young girls."
Ronan anxiously explained, "Ah, stop bringing up the past, I’m willing to dig my heart out for you to see."
Charlotte pointed to the seat opposite: "Alright, alright, sit down. I was just joking."
"That joke wasn’t funny at all! I feel like you just don’t believe me."
"Believe, if I didn’t, would I still come here with you?"
Ronan handed his phone to her: "Here are the outfits from their studio, you can pick one you like tonight. They’ll deliver it tomorrow."
Charlotte flipped through the phone briefly and asked him: "What style do you like?"
Ronan: "I think any style looks good on you, but it seems like a sweet style suits you best."
"Sweet style... so that’s how you perceive me, or do you actually like sweet girls?"
Ronan avoided the trap, saying with a smile, "I like you, whatever you’re like, I like."
Charlotte pouted: "True, I think you should like mature and sexy types."
Ronan frowned: "There you go again, won’t you ever stop?"
The fact that she could banter with him made Ronan feel good.
It was obvious that this trip made her feel more relaxed and happy, he believed that if things continued this way, her depression would gradually get better.
With a better mood, her condition with ALS might even slow down.
Even if her physical situation worsens, at least it wouldn’t let her feel hopeless, with him always by her side, her heart wouldn’t feel so deserted.
