CHAPTER 52: CHAPTER 52: PREGNANT?

"That’s true, if you have something on your mind, you’ll feel sad, right?"

"Yeah, like me, wanting to start over but can’t let go of the past. It’s really a thorn in my heart, you know? If only there were really that ’Forgetful Water’ from Andy Lowell."

"Did you call him? Did you call?"

Erin Bishop scoffed, took a sip of her drink, and shook her head, "I did, no one answered."

"Could it be that Ronan Rhodes told his brother?"

"I just asked him, and he said no."

Shannon Quinn sighed deeply, then comforted Erin Bishop, "Maybe you never changed your number? Actually, that’s a good sign, isn’t it? He didn’t answer your call, meaning he still remembers your number after all these years."

Erin Bishop’s dull eyes lit up at Shannon Quinn’s words, but then they dimmed again, "So what if he remembers my number all these years but never contacts me? It just means he doesn’t want to. I’d rather he had his phone stolen and forgot my number so he couldn’t contact me."

After saying that, Erin Bishop changed the subject, looking into the distance with confusion, "What’s going on? Are those two in lab coats doctors?"

Shannon Quinn turned her head to follow Erin Bishop’s gaze and said dismissively, "Probably nothing serious, otherwise they’d be off to the hospital."

"True, whatever, we have enough to worry about in our own lives. Come on, let me introduce you to some friends."

Erin Bishop was extroverted and liked to have fun, so she had many friends in her social circle, both men and women. Shannon Quinn hadn’t hung out with people her age for quite a while, so even though she wasn’t familiar with everyone, not knowing them made her less cautious somehow.

Around ten, Shannon Quinn reminded the already wild Erin Bishop that it was time to go home. She had drunk a bit but wasn’t drunk yet.

On the way back, Shannon Quinn drove, while Erin Bishop was next to her, speaking nonsense in a jumbled manner, saying this and that, due to her tendency to talk even more when tipsy.

"Shannon, do you think Landon Sutton is gay?"

Shannon Quinn nearly lost her grip on the steering wheel. She glanced at Erin Bishop, leaning against the seat, and asked her, "Why do you say that?"

"Think about it, Landon Sutton is quite famous in the scene. I’ve heard all sorts of rumors but never about him being with any woman. Plus, tonight Ronan Rhodes said his brother is gay and he’s working with Landon Sutton. Don’t you think maybe the two of them..."

Shannon Quinn couldn’t help but laugh, interrupting her, "You’ve let your imagination run wild, haven’t you? Besides, just because Landon Sutton doesn’t openly associate with women doesn’t mean anything. Who knows, he might be hiding something, maybe his private life is actually quite wild."

"I’d rather it be wild. I’m just afraid the two of them actually have something going on. Just imagine if I lost to a man, wouldn’t that be embarrassing?"

"I think you’re just thinking nonsense with the influence of alcohol. Go back, take a bath, and get some rest early."

Erin Bishop ended up going back to Shannon’s place. As soon as they got home, Shannon found a set of pajamas for Erin Bishop to wash off the alcohol scent.

She was tidying up in the living room when the doorbell suddenly rang.

Curious, she walked to the door, thinking it might be Landon Sutton, and opened it.

The smell of alcohol hit her hard, and before Shannon Quinn could react or stop it, Jett Quinn squeezed his way into the room, looking like he’d had quite a few drinks.

"When did you get back?" Jett Quinn asked as if he were at his own home, sitting on the living room sofa, addressing Shannon Quinn.

"It’s so late, is there something important, brother?"

"Just came to check on my dear sister, what’s the matter?"

Shannon looked at a small cut on his face, guessing he had been in a fight last night. He had a roguish air with not a shred of seriousness.

"Where’s your husband?" He leaned back on the couch, his legs propped up on the coffee table.

Shannon glanced at him, feeling annoyed but saying nothing, then handed him a cup of hot water, "On a business trip."

He chuckled, unclear at what, and seeing her bring the water over, sat up to take the cup, immediately frowning, "So hot, why don’t you drink it first, let me see?"

"I didn’t ask you to drink it right away."

Jett Quinn rolled his eyes at her, reclined back onto the sofa, and gave Shannon an up-and-down look, chuckling, "Where’ve you been?"

"Shopping."

"Alone?"

"With my friend."

"Boyfriend or girlfriend?"

Shannon didn’t answer, Jett Quinn smiled, and took out a cigarette and lighter, getting ready to smoke. Shannon frowned and stopped him, "The apartment’s small, ventilation isn’t good."

Jett’s movement to light the cigarette paused, he looked at Shannon, but still lit the cigarette in his hand, bringing it to his mouth and asked, "Are you pregnant?"

Shannon didn’t answer, she just went over to open the window on the balcony. She glimpsed the opposite balcony, where the lights were on, and Landon Sutton was also standing by, smoking.

He saw her, and Shannon quickly averted her gaze back into the room.

"Sis, you married a disabled man, must be inconvenient for certain things, right? Or does your husband simply not have the capability? Want your brother to take good care of you?"

Shannon gritted her teeth, holding back the urge to curse, "It’s late, brother should go back sooner, so uncle and aunt don’t worry."

Jett Quinn smiled, stood up, and walked over to Shannon, "Why let strangers enjoy the sweetness? Your husband’s not home anyway, and since he can’t give it to you, I’ll take over for him. He might even thank me later when he finds out!"

Listening to his filthy talk, Shannon really wanted to slap him, but feared causing a commotion, which would be uncontrollable. Knowing he was always heavy-handed, she held back for the sake of the child in her belly.

"Shannon, who are you talking to?"

The sound of Erin Bishop came from inside the house, and Jett Quinn’s face changed, "Someone else is here?"

As she spoke, Erin Bishop walked out of the room, eyeing Jett Quinn and then Shannon, unclear about the situation.

"Who are you?" Jett Quinn stepped back a pace, holding the cigarette in his mouth.

"I was going to ask you, who are you?"

Jett Quinn chuckled, looking Erin Bishop up and down, "Nice body, sis, did you find this girl for your brother?"

Erin Bishop raised an eyebrow, "Find your sister! What kind of punk are you? Get out of here this instant!"

Shannon quickly went over to calm Erin Bishop down, fearing Jett Quinn might hurt her.

Usually, Jett Quinn was unreasonable, and drunk, he’d probably be worse. Erin Bishop, with her bad temper, didn’t understand what kind of person Jett Quinn was.

"You look quite pretty, but your words aren’t pleasant. How about I teach you a lesson?" As Jett Quinn spoke, he dropped the cigarette butt directly to the ground and crushed it underfoot, then moved towards Erin Bishop.
