CHAPTER 58: CHAPTER 58: ALL MEN ARE THE SAME

Shannon Quinn sat up straight, as if this could make herself more justified: "Are you kidding? I’m his wife, how could I have not seen him? He’s in a wheelchair, but he’s not a monster, nor a fool. He’s really handsome and especially smart!"

"I can’t believe that just based on your words alone."

"Believe it or not, he’s my husband, as long as I know what kind of person he is."

Landon Sutton smiled but said nothing, eating the food she made, "By the way, was the person last night your brother?"

"...Sort of."

"There’s a story?"

"My foster parents’ son."

"Is this the kind of son the Quinn Family raised?"

Shannon Quinn opened her mouth, wanting to speak but stopped. If it were Vincent Rhodes opposite her, she might have told him about the things she encountered as a child, but the person in front of her was Landon Sutton, and she didn’t want to tell him so much.

Her attitude towards him was better than before, but she still needed to maintain the necessary distance.

"Does he often come to trouble you?" Landon Sutton asked again.

Shannon Quinn swallowed the food in her mouth before saying: "He was abroad before, just came back recently."

Landon Sutton responded with a "hmm," seemingly contemplating something, but didn’t share it with Shannon Quinn.

After finishing the meal, he hugged the cat and returned next door, leaving Shannon Quinn to look at the empty house, silently tidying up the table.

She found that she now seemed more and more afraid of loneliness.

The weekend came, the weather was a bit gloomy, but it hadn’t started raining yet.

Erin Bishop called saying she was bored and invited her to go out.

Coincidentally, Shannon Quinn was also feeling troubled and wanted to go out, so she set a time, drove to Erin Bishop’s house to visit Mia, and then the two of them discussed and picked a movie, heading to the cinema together.

"How have you been feeling these days? Any reactions?"

Shannon Quinn shook her head: "It’s okay, my appetite is quite good, just a lot of naps."

"How about your husband? Has he come to see you?"

Shannon Quinn shook her head again: "I reckon he’s still quite bothered by this child."

"The child is one he agreed for you to have, how can he ignore you and the child?"

"Oh, as long as he’s not blaming me, let’s not demand too much from him. Besides, he needs care himself, where would he find time to inquire about the child’s matters."

"Then what do you plan to do in the future? Right now with the belly not showing it’s fine, but when it grows, you won’t be able to hide it. Are you quitting your job?"

Shannon Quinn lowered her head in thought and said: "I plan to talk to my boss about this, then later I’ll stop going to the studio, I’ll work from home directly, it’s the same thing. Kids need money for everything in the future right? I can’t stop working."

Erin Bishop pouted and said: "Men are all alike, not many are good ones, and Vincent Rhodes’ family doesn’t lack money, yet they’re reluctant to give you money?"

"I haven’t asked him for any."

"Is this about asking? He should proactively give you living expenses."

Shannon Quinn chuckled softly: "It’s not like I can’t afford to eat. When I can support myself, I don’t want to ask him for money. When I married him, saving the Quinn family’s company took a lot of money, he owes me nothing."

"But the Quinn family’s company has nothing to do with you. You sacrificed your lifetime happiness and ended up with nothing."

"Everyone has their fate. I feel people owe me, and they probably feel I owe them. When the Quinn Family sold me to Vincent Rhodes, they probably felt that they raised me for so many years, and selling me was only natural. No matter when, they use this as a reason for their demands."

"This family really has no shame. Has that man continued to harass you after that?"

"No, he probably went to the hospital and then the police station, got lectured by his parents, so at least he’ll be quiet for a while."

"Seeing his rogue demeanor, I wonder how his parents taught him."

"Alright, let’s not talk about these unhappy things when we’re out having fun, let’s go over there and buy some snacks for later."

Just as they entered the cinema, Shannon Quinn received a call from Landon Sutton.

Though they always had each other’s contact, he rarely called her. These past few days with going in and out, they hadn’t really bumped into each other much. He seemed quite busy and hadn’t come over.

Watching Erin Bishop queue up to buy snacks, Shannon Quinn pressed the answer button: "Hello..."

"Where are you? Do you have time now?"

Shannon Quinn didn’t directly disclose her whereabouts, but instead asked him: "Is something up?"

"Regarding the exhibition I mentioned to you before, I’d like to discuss it a bit more."

"Oh... Later, I’m out now, how about we talk when I get back tonight?"

"Are you alone?"

"With a friend."

Landon Sutton quickly followed up: "At the cinema?"

Shannon Quinn listened to the ticket-checking sounds coming from speakers all around the cinema, clearly transmitted through her phone to Landon Sutton’s ears, "Mm."

The other side was silent for two seconds and then spoke again: "Alright, contact me when you’re done watching."

Shannon Quinn opened her mouth wanting to say she’d contact him at night as she might go shopping with Erin Bishop later, but Landon Sutton hung up just after speaking.

After buying snacks and entering the cinema, the comedy film brought a sense of relaxation and joy, temporarily letting go of worries.

However, the plot of the movie might make Erin Bishop think of her past.

The warm, romantic school romance, with a happy ending in the film, is so rare in reality.

Even though the end was happy for everyone, when leaving the cinema, Erin Bishop’s eyes were wet and red.

Walking out of the cinema, they realized it was raining outside, quite heavily, and many were trapped under the eaves.

Along the street was a row of shops, and the two chatted while walking along the roadside, entering a clothing store.

"They’re already selling fall clothes. Speaking of which, isn’t your birthday coming up? Look around and see if there’s anything you like, I’ll buy it for you."

Shannon Quinn smiled and said: "It’s still early." In fact, she hadn’t properly celebrated her birthday for a long time. Almost every year, only Aidan Lockwood remembered her birthday and celebrated with her a few times. Later, the timing didn’t work out as much, and when they weren’t in the same place, he’d make time to call her.

Erin Bishop, usually seeming a bit careless, was actually quite thoughtful. She had mentioned it unintentionally before, but she still remembered.

"Try this outfit on her."

She directly picked out a set, and the sales assistant immediately came enthusiastically and led Shannon Quinn to the fitting room.

"This dress is really nice, you can wear it now and even when your belly gets bigger."

Shannon Quinn looked at herself in the mirror and found she could indeed start purchasing maternity items now. While she could still move easily, once her belly grows larger, she might not even want to go shopping.

"Look around and see if there’s anything else you like, I’ll go try on this dress."

Shannon Quinn nodded, turning to look at other clothes in the store, when her phone in her bag suddenly chimed.
