My Mysterious Hidden Husband
Chapter 76: Miss Me?
CHAPTER 76: CHAPTER 76: MISS ME?
Shane Royale looked at him not saying a word, seemingly feeling that scolding him was pointless.
After glaring at him a few times, he said, "Your life isn’t yours to decide, I’ve already contacted the best rehabilitation doctor, pack up your things and come with me, recover as soon as possible, the training at Dragonspire cannot be interrupted."
Landon Sutton remained silent for two seconds, then looked up at the old man and said, "I’ll leave early tomorrow morning."
Shane Royale didn’t expect the kid would bargain with him, sighed helplessly but finally said, "Alright, I’ll send someone to pick you up early tomorrow morning."
Seeing his grandson whom he hadn’t seen in a long time, yet unable to have a proper chat or show concern, the old man opened his mouth, but his words were left unsaid.
He stood up from the sofa with a cane, a kitten nuzzled his leg, he glanced down and gently moved it aside with the cane, then looked at Landon Sutton and said, "If you act recklessly like this again, don’t expect to get a vacation."
After speaking, he worriedly looked at Landon Sutton’s leg twice, said nothing more, and left with the cane.
The sound of door opening and closing...
Landon Sutton looked at the kitten sitting on the ground looking up at him adorably, feeling complicated yet clear-headed.
In the evening, at dinner time, Shannon Quinn sent a WeChat message asking Landon Sutton to come over for dinner.
He no longer needed a wheelchair now, and could barely walk with a cane.
Shannon Quinn also asked him if the doctor allowed him to walk, he said, "I’ll walk if I can, who needs permission?"
"When will you go to the hospital for a follow-up?" Shannon Quinn handed him a bowl of soup and asked.
Instead of answering, Landon Sutton stared at her belly and asked, "Have you gotten fatter recently?"
Shannon Quinn noticed his gaze, felt guilty in her heart, quickly sat down and awkwardly explained, "I guess I have gotten fatter... I make so many dishes every day that you hardly eat, I hate wasting food so I force myself to eat."
Landon Sutton chuckled, seeing her guilty expression, raised the soup she served him and took a sip, "A little weight is fine, drink more soup."
Seeing she managed to fool him, Shannon Quinn relaxed, took a spoon and served herself a bowl of soup, just as she brought it to her mouth, the greasy taste made her stomach churn.
She hurriedly stood up and went to the bathroom.
It was the first time she experienced nausea since her pregnancy, she had a good appetite recently, she thought she was lucky not to have pregnancy reactions, turns out the time hadn’t come yet.
After dry heaving for a while, she rinsed her mouth with water, turned around and saw Landon Sutton leaning against the bathroom door, smiling faintly with deep eyes watching her.
Shannon Quinn grabbed a towel and hastily wiped her mouth, saying, "The temperature difference between day and night is big these days, I might have caught a cold, chilled my stomach."
"Oh?"
His "oh" made Shannon Quinn exceptionally flustered.
"You should take better care of your health."
"Yes... I will... I’ll go to the pharmacy later to get some cold medicine."
Consider that she managed to fool him, she returned to the dining table, but seemed to have lost her appetite for anything.
Afraid that Landon Sutton might get suspicious, she picked up the bowl and ate half a bowl of rice with greens.
She felt that Landon Sutton seemed to have something on his mind, while eating he usually chats and jokes with her, today he was particularly silent.
Just as she hesitated whether to show concern, he wiped his mouth with a napkin and said, "You don’t need to prepare my meals anymore starting tomorrow."
Shannon Quinn was stunned for two seconds before reacting, asked him, "Why, are you going out?"
"I can walk on my own now, if I want to eat something I can go out to eat, I’m a bit tired of your dishes."
Shannon Quinn pursed her lips, about to speak, but he smiled at her and asked ambiguous, "What? Are you used to me eating with you and reluctant to part with me?"
"Who would be reluctant?"
"Your husband hasn’t come back once for so long, it’s like you’re a living widow, you must feel lonely? I’ve been telling you to marry me, you..."
"Go, go, go, hurry and go, since your leg’s better you don’t have to trouble me anymore, I’m more than happy for you not to come and eat! You think cooking a table full of dishes every day is easy? Tired and unappreciated, heartless creature, hurry back to your place, and don’t come over in the future!"
She angrily cleaned the tableware, turned and walked into the kitchen.
Landon Sutton looked at her stubborn look, bitterly smiled, and left with a cane.
Shannon Quinn came out of the kitchen again, just in time to see the door closing.
Looking at the leftover soup and dishes on the dining table, she sighed, tied on an apron and continued cleaning.
Perhaps people are naturally sentimental about parting, unable to hide the sense of loss from themselves.
Maybe it’s because she’s been lonely for too long, having someone by her side to accompany her, she cherishes and is reluctant to let go.
In the days spent with Landon Sutton, she truly felt like they were family.
Lowering her head to look at her belly, in her mind surfaced Vincent Rhodes.
All she wants is an ordinary, complete family, why is it so difficult...
After showering, lying in bed, looking at the long string of numbers, he hasn’t contacted her for a long time, she’s read the few chat records countless times, memorized them by heart.
The more she reads, the more distressed she feels, wondering when he will reappear, or will it be two years again, or longer...
Putting down the phone, looking at the soft light of the bedside lamp, slowly closed her eyes.
She had no idea how deep into the night it was, the bedside lamp quietly went out.
Maybe Shannon Quinn was deeply asleep, maybe she had already let her guard down with Vincent Rhodes, the wheelchair had arrived alongside the bed, yet she hadn’t awakened.
The man supported himself on the bed, reached out and lifted the corner of the quilt, lying down beside her.
In her sleep, feeling the mattress sink beside her, Shannon Quinn groggily wondered if she was dreaming until she felt someone hugging her from behind, she suddenly woke with a start.
Moved slightly, realized there was indeed someone behind her, as fear struck her, the hoarse voice of a man came from above her head, "Did I wake you?"
The familiar voice made Shannon Quinn relax her guard, yet also feel like she might still be dreaming.
As she wanted to turn to look at him, he gently pressed her head, seemingly not wanting her to see him.
Shannon Quinn blinked, maintaining her current posture without moving, only asking him, "Where have you been these days?"
The man released the hand pressing on her head, hugged her from behind, drawing her into his embrace, "Did you miss me?"
Shannon Quinn lowered her gaze, slowly extended her hand, touching his hand, seeing no resistance from him, cautiously placed her hand over his, her voice hoarse and trembling, asking, "And you? Did you miss me?"
One second, two seconds...
Received no answer from him.
Shannon Quinn, feeling disappointed, moved her hand from his, but before fully withdrawing, he grabbed her hand in return, his voice soft, carrying his breath to her ear, "Yes."
