My Mysterious Hidden Husband
Chapter 85: A Life for a Life
CHAPTER 85: CHAPTER 85: A LIFE FOR A LIFE
The car veered into an alley, the road was narrow but the car sped quickly, jolting around. Shannon Quinn gripped the handle above her head tightly, watching as the streets they drove through became more and more desolate.
She glanced back at the cars following behind; there were quite a few. With the knowledge of support behind her, Shannon Quinn wasn’t overly tense or afraid.
"Jett Quinn, stop the car. There’s no need to blow things up."
Jett Quinn chuckled, turned to look at her, and asked, "Are you worried about me, or about the man behind?"
"I’m advising you not to be the same as before, do something worthwhile, don’t spend all your time hanging out with questionable people doing pointless things!"
"Who are you to lecture me?"
"What good does it do you to do these things?"
Jett Quinn scoffed lightly, "What do you understand?"
Upon finishing, the car’s speed decreased.
Shannon Quinn turned to look outside the window; it was an abandoned school site, a place where nobody lived, looking very desolate.
After the car stopped, a group of people emerged from the building, probably about thirty, some seemed to have just arrived.
"Get out of the car." Jett Quinn came over and opened the car door.
"Quinn, who’s being so tactless? Are they looking for a fight?"
Jett Quinn smiled, grasped Shannon Quinn’s wrist tightly, pulling her out of the car, and said to the bald-headed man who inquired, "Just don’t hold back later."
A man with a scar on his face walked over, grinning viciously, he said, "With Quinn’s endorsement, I won’t be polite tonight."
Shannon Quinn swallowed nervously, glanced back at the cars stopping one after another.
Landon Sutton led the group, totaling four cars, making only seven people altogether.
If a real fight broke out, they would certainly be outnumbered. Shannon Quinn hoped nothing would happen.
"Just these two people, huh? I’ll give you ten minutes to call for backup." Jett Quinn lit a cigarette, full of provocation.
Landon Sutton’s eyes were cold and fierce; his murderous gaze made Shannon Quinn feel he was somewhat unfamiliar.
His inherent authority was not influenced by the cane in his hand, the night wind slightly swayed his short hair, his cold dark eyes half-closed, seemingly dismissive of these people, nor did he bother to call for reinforcements.
"Last time, luck was on your side, only a broken leg. Today, if you aren’t careful, you might lose your life."
Landon Sutton curled one corner of his lips, his smile cold and chilling, making anyone who saw it shudder involuntarily: "We can settle our old scores gradually, let her go first."
"Alright, we’ll settle both new and old scores together!"
After Jett Quinn finished, he released Shannon Quinn’s hand, but she froze in place, not daring to move rashly.
"Come over." Landon Sutton’s words drifted into her ear along with the night wind, as if enchanted, Shannon Quinn blankly stepped towards him.
After taking a few steps, she carefully glanced back at Jett Quinn, seeing him inactive. She quickened her pace directly towards Landon Sutton.
"Try taking another step! I’m your brother!"
Upon hearing Jett Quinn’s shout, Shannon Quinn paused for a moment, glanced back at him.
Instead of turning back, she broke into a run, afraid Jett Quinn might change his mind and grab her back.
Jett Quinn cursed, his gaze turning more ruthless.
Simon Rhodes stepped forward, worriedly pulling Shannon Quinn to his side, asked her with his head lowered, "Are you hurt?"
Shannon Quinn shook her head, Landon Sutton told Simon Rhodes, "Take her back to the car."
"Quinn, isn’t that Landon Sutton? Are you crazy?" Someone in the crowd recognized Landon Sutton’s identity, whispered to Jett Quinn.
"Yes, Quinn, that guy just now is the eldest son of the Rhodes Family! Could it be you kidnapped someone from the Rhodes Family?"
"We better disperse; if this trouble latches onto us, it won’t just be as simple as getting hurt in a fight."
"Indeed, Quinn, forget it; we might have an advantage in numbers now, but we can’t afford to face them later."
Everyone began to discuss fervently, losing spirit, and the previously arrogant few were now looking at each other silently, not daring to utter a word.
"Why so cowardly? We’re lowly lives; even if trading life for life, it’s still a win-win."
Ronan Rhodes sneered, disdainfully, "That’s if you have the skill to take it."
Shannon Quinn was locked inside the car by Simon Rhodes, unable to hear what they were discussing outside.
The dim lights illuminated the abandoned teaching building, with scenes of ruins everywhere.
The two opposing forces suddenly fell into chaos, Jett Quinn snatched the iron rod from a man beside him, began to walk slowly towards Landon Sutton.
"There’s no surveillance here; if you die tonight, no one will know how it happened. In this area, dying in fights is common. By the time your bodies are dragged to the back mountain, there might not even be anyone to collect them."
After hearing Jett Quinn’s speech, Landon Sutton merely chuckled, looked at him and repeated, "No surveillance?"
Pretending to pause, he stepped forward and snatched away the iron rod from Jett Quinn, who then charged at Landon Sutton without hesitation.
Shannon Quinn’s pupils widened, full of concern.
But she only saw Landon Sutton swing the iron rod, heavily smashing down on the Rolls-Royce behind him, the smooth surface caved in deeply, and then he broke the windshield.
Everyone was stunned by his action, after smashing his own car, he tossed back the iron rod to Jett Quinn.
The iron rod hitting the ground made a clear sound, followed by his words, "Intentional disturbance and destruction of property, you think... how many years’ sentence?"
Upon hearing this, Jett Quinn understood the purpose behind Landon Sutton’s car smashing, smiled, bent down to pick up the iron rod at his feet, saying, "Years of sentence? I ain’t scared of dying, let alone prison?"
With that, he was holding the iron rod toward Landon Sutton, ready to destroy him...
Inside the car, Shannon Quinn saw this, panic struck her eyes wided open. Landon Sutton stood with his back to her, she couldn’t see his expression, but she could see he showed no fear of Jett Quinn, standing stable with his cane.
When Jett Quinn’s iron rod was about to smash down on Landon Sutton, Ronan Rhodes, standing beside Landon Sutton, quickly stepped forward, kicked Jett Quinn’s hand holding the iron rod aside, and before Jett Quinn could stabilize himself, Ronan Rhodes landed two punches followed by a heavy kick, knocking Jett Quinn to the ground.
Jett Quinn’s concept of fighting was purely a chaotic brawl, whereas Landon Sutton’s side had clearly undergone professional training. Jett Quinn didn’t even get close to Landon Sutton, let alone touch a strand of his hair, getting knocked down by Ronan Rhodes within seconds.
Seeing Jett Quinn at a disadvantage, a few among his brethren exchanged glances, and then a sizeable number charged forward, wielding knives and sticks, swarming towards Landon Sutton’s side.
