My Mysterious Hidden Husband
Chapter 88: Pick a Gift for Me
CHAPTER 88: CHAPTER 88: PICK A GIFT FOR ME
She remembered he said he would handle Jett’s matter in a legal way.
Actually, it had nothing to do with him originally, but he still quietly helped her a lot.
After hanging up the phone, she stood on the street, pulled out Landon’s number, hesitated for a while, and then pressed the call button.
The ringtone paused Landon’s fingers on the keyboard. He turned his head to look at the phone on the table. The name he never dared to think of appeared on the incoming call display, and he was stunned for a moment. Then he involuntarily raised the corners of his mouth and answered the call: "Hello."
After he spoke, there was no sound on the other end for a while, but he didn’t hang up, patiently waiting for her reply.
"...Landon?"
"You called me and you don’t even know who it is?"
"I was just confirming... um, are you alright?"
Landon shifted his position, lazily leaning on the sofa. When he answered her call, the frown from work unknowingly relaxed, "What do you mean by alright?"
"Last night, weren’t you taken away by the police?"
Hearing her words, Landon couldn’t help but chuckle and teased her: "Were you worried about me?"
"I was just asking... after all, it was because of my issues."
"So how are you going to thank me?"
Shannon didn’t expect him to invite credit, and after a pause, she answered, "Treat you to a meal?"
Landon’s smile gradually faded, and he sighed lightly, "Forget it, not creative."
Shannon mumbled, "Fine then, save me some money."
The moment she finished speaking, Landon’s voice came through again, "Get me a gift."
"A gift?"
"Yeah, pick whatever you like, just don’t choose something cheap."
Shannon frowned and asked him, "Then what do you need?"
"If I knew what I needed, wouldn’t I buy it myself? Do you understand what giving a gift means?"
Shannon barely understood, saying "Oh" while thinking that she seemed to never have given a man a gift before, not even Vincent.
"You have a day, buy it by tomorrow afternoon and give it to Ronan, he’ll pass it to me."
She didn’t understand why he was in such a hurry, nor why he wouldn’t appear in person, but Shannon didn’t question these things further, just agreed.
After hanging up, she looked at the surrounding shops. She wasn’t familiar with men’s stuff aside from clothing, and suddenly regretted why she made this call, adding trouble to herself.
After hesitating for a while, she called Erin, and after her meeting ended, asked her to help choose.
Hearing Shannon was picking a gift for Landon made Erin’s jaw almost drop to the ground. She widened her eyes and incredulously asked Shannon, "Shannon, you’re not... really cheating, are you?"
"What nonsense are you saying? He helped me last night, just giving him something to repay the favor."
"If it’s just random, why are you calling me to help choose?"
"It’s just that I have no experience, pick a suitable gift for him, at least let him feel satisfied, otherwise, he might always feel that I owe him."
"Alright, alright, tonight you must thoroughly tell me last night’s hero saving the beauty script."
Shannon rolled her eyes at her but found Landon’s image flashing in her mind.
Last night, although he didn’t even make a move, an ordinary person standing there might not even have any presence. But such a man as Landon, even in the chaotic crowd and fighting, could become the standout, Shannon didn’t know what kind of magic this was.
"Landon is really hard to choose a gift for, high taste, ordinary things he might look down on, and things he likes you probably can’t afford, and even if you can, it would cost you an arm and a leg, really hard to choose."
Shannon complained, "He said as long as it’s not something cheap."
"See, he definitely likes you. His meaning is, as long as it’s from you, no matter how cheap, he would like it."
"Stop talking nonsense! Even if he likes me, I wouldn’t like him. I am a woman with principles."
"Your so-called principles are just a piece of paper, right? Which way your heart leans, you know it yourself."
Erin’s seemingly casual words made Shannon pause, but she didn’t dare think much about it.
Erin pulled her to a watch counter, contemplating, "Since he’s well-off and doesn’t lack anything, no need to buy luxurious items, meaningful is the best."
"What do you mean by meaningful?"
"Does he usually wear a watch?"
Shannon thought for a moment, nodded, and said, "He wears one."
"Then don’t buy a watch, if you buy ten, they probably can’t match one of his."
"Are you two picking a gift for your boyfriend? Do you want to see our newly launched pocket watches? Custom styles are available, even couples’ styles."
The shop assistant’s words immediately attracted both Shannon’s and Erin’s attention, and Erin promptly said, "Yes, take it out and let me see."
The shop assistant took out pocket watches from the glass display and presented them to them, saying: "Pocket watches are the closest to the heart position, more meaningful than giving a watch, and each is specially designed by our designer, can be engraved, unique is the most precious."
Erin immediately egged Shannon on, "Buy this one, it’s good, and the price is acceptable."
Shannon looked at it, thought for a moment, and said, "Help me customize a set, I want initials engraved."
"Alright Miss, please come over here to make a note."
As Shannon prepared to follow the shop assistant, Erin grabbed her arm, saying, "You and Landon? A couple pocket watch?!"
"What are you thinking? I’m buying this for him... We’ve been married for so long, and I haven’t really given him anything, I think this is quite fitting."
Hearing this, Erin let out a sigh of relief, but said, "Don’t you have a lot of grievances against him? And yet thinking about gifting him."
Shannon mumbled, "I just feel like, if I get something for Landon and not for him, it seems a bit uneasy inside."
"Alright, alright, you go ahead, I’ll take a look at other things for you."
Finally, Shannon ran out of patience and just picked a set of cufflinks and tie clip for Landon.
As Erin saw her checking out, she teased Shannon, "He said as long as it’s not something cheap, and you actually listened, this is too casual right?"
"How is it casual? Just these two little things are a few thousand! Normally, I wouldn’t splurge on myself, this is decent for him."
Thinking one is her husband, the other a stranger, such differentiated treatment seemed reasonable.
Even Erin didn’t know what to buy for a man like Landon who seemed to lack nothing, so Shannon checked out, and they left.
