My Mysterious Hidden Husband
Chapter 91: Couple Pocket Watches
CHAPTER 91: CHAPTER 91: COUPLE POCKET WATCHES
During the day, Erin Bishop went to the company, and Shannon Quinn was at home alone, holding a parenting book as she sat on the sofa reading.
She received a call from Lynn Kendall, saying she wanted to visit the studio and chat with Aidan Lockwood about a job opportunity.
Shannon Quinn put down her book and contacted Aidan Lockwood, learning that he was currently at the studio and had already discussed Lynn Kendall’s matter before.
He neither opposed nor explicitly agreed, but Shannon Quinn did not dwell on it, thinking it might not be a big deal to him, so she decided herself.
After tidying up, she drove out to meet Lynn Kendall and took her along to the studio.
"Shannon, why are you here? Didn’t the boss say he arranged other work for you, and you wouldn’t come to the studio anymore?"
"Who said I’m not coming anymore? I just don’t come often, where’s the boss?"
"In the office, who’s this?"
"A friend." Shannon Quinn replied simply and took Lynn Kendall to Aidan Lockwood’s office.
"Shannon, I really envy you for being by Mr. Lockwood’s side, now you’re quite successful." Lynn Kendall followed Shannon Quinn upstairs, speaking enviously.
Shannon Quinn smiled humbly, "Mr. Lockwood is a good teacher."
"Yes, I really regret not continuing with Mr. Lockwood back then."
"You’re doing well now too."
Shannon Quinn didn’t really like mutual flattery; she felt true friends were those who constantly bicker but could never truly fall out, like her relationship with Erin Bishop.
Lynn Kendall was adaptable and quite slick.
Shannon Quinn knocked on Aidan Lockwood’s office door, received his permission, and pushed the door open.
"Mr. Lockwood, long time no see." As she opened the door, Lynn Kendall rushed ahead, warmly greeting Aidan Lockwood, appearing very familiar.
Shannon Quinn thought little about it, closed the glass door, walked over, and said to Aidan Lockwood, "Mr. Lockwood, you remember, right? Lynn Kendall, I mentioned her to you a few days ago."
"Of course, I remember." Aidan Lockwood smiled, stood up, walked to the sofa in the guests’ area, and poured each of them a cup of tea, "Sit."
Lynn Kendall sat down first, ignoring Shannon Quinn after entering, "Mr. Lockwood, Shannon should have told you about my situation, right? I’m planning to return to domestic development, and Shannon mentioned you needed someone here, so I wanted to try joining, but I don’t know if Mr. Lockwood..."
Aidan Lockwood maintained a polite smile, took a sip of tea while glancing at Shannon Quinn, and then replied to Lynn Kendall, "Yes, Shannon has told me. I’ve also spent the last couple of days looking at your work."
"Please guide me, Mr. Lockwood."
"It’s not quite about guidance; your style is quite mature, but it doesn’t quite blend with our studio’s style."
Lynn Kendall’s smile froze slightly, then immediately said, "It’s okay, I can gradually adapt to your style, and I will learn more from Shannon too."
"Actually, having an independent style is quite good; you don’t need to compromise so much for my small studio."
"Mr. Lockwood is being modest; you were my mentor in this industry, and I feel honored to learn from and work with you."
Aidan Lockwood glanced at Shannon Quinn sitting next to Lynn Kendall, worried about putting Shannon in an awkward position. After some thought, he said, "Alright, you can try working here for now. When convenient, you can also look at Shannon’s work and find our studio’s direction."
"Alright, then I’ll rely on Shannon for guidance in the future."
Shannon Quinn dryly chuckled and humbly replied, "It’s not really guidance."
"Shannon, don’t be modest. I’ll be working domestically in the future, without many friends here. Whether at work or in life, if anything comes up, I’ll need your care and support."
"Alright, whenever you are ready, come over to work. I need to go out for a while now; here’s my business card, you can directly call me if anything comes up."
"Alright, thank you, Mr. Lockwood."
After arranging Lynn Kendall’s matters, Shannon Quinn felt relieved yet vaguely worried, uncertain if placing Lynn Kendall in the studio was right or wrong.
If she would just work steadfastly, her minor personality flaws wouldn’t matter much; everyone has their own quirks and character. It’s just the concern that she might stir up trouble with her cunning.
"Shannon, thank you for your help. I’ll invite you to dinner someday; I’ve just moved house and need to tidy up. Once things settle, I’ll invite you over."
"Okay."
Lynn Kendall drove away, and Shannon Quinn sighed, drove back home.
Holding a pen and drawing paper, she sat idly for half an hour, her gaze drifting to the two pocket watch boxes on the coffee table.
Her mind was in turmoil, unable to focus on how to design, wondering why she went to buy these things when the other person might not even care.
She threw down the pencil, picked up the parenting book again, lay on the sofa, and aimlessly flipped through it, unable to absorb a single word.
Eventually, she closed the book, pulled up a blanket, curled on the sofa, closed her eyes, letting her thoughts wander until she fell asleep.
The sound of the door opening wasn’t enough to wake her up. The wheelchair came into the room, seeing the woman asleep on the sofa. The person behind the mask took a deep breath.
Wanting to carry her into the bedroom but hesitated to do so.
His gaze moved from her sleeping face to the coffee table.
Colorful pencils and her drawing sheets were scattered messily, with discarded sketches on the floor, his gaze finally resting on the two identical boxes.
The packaging was similar to the cufflink gift boxes he received, so he immediately noticed these two boxes.
Who are they meant for?
Curious, he reached and took the two boxes, opening them for examination.
Two pocket watches, elegantly designed, engraved on the back with three ornate English letters and a heart symbol.
When he first saw "RSQ," he didn’t understand what it meant. However, upon seeing the other with "QXY," he immediately comprehended.
They’re initials of their names.
He was surprised she chose a gift for Vincent Rhodes.
He wondered why despite disappointing her repeatedly and being disliked by her, she still kept him in her thoughts.
If it were merely a superficial marriage, she probably wouldn’t bother with these details, let alone buying him a gift.
Upon hearing noise behind him, Vincent Rhodes turned around to see Shannon Quinn sit up from the sofa, looking surprised and dazed, staring at him unexpectedly.
