Chapter 505: Barking Dogs Seldom Bite
CHAPTER 505: CHAPTER 505: BARKING DOGS SELDOM BITE
The park was silent, with the relevant personnel having cleared the scene earlier, leaving no one around.
Zhang Lu and her companions parked their car and waited quietly with peace of mind.
If Qi Qinhu were to escape at this location and enter the forest on the park’s edge, capturing him would become significantly difficult, akin to inviting numerous complications.
Zhang Lu had naturally anticipated this and made detailed plans to lure out Qi Kexin and expose the enemy’s whereabouts.
Qi Kexin chose this location for the meeting with meticulous planning. In the end, who will outsmart whom is still uncertain.
Zhang Lu had compelling reasons to act this way. Although Qi Qinhu’s death would be pleasing, leaving Qi Kexin, a significant threat, would always be a hidden danger. To prevent future attack incidents, capturing the important figures in one sweep is necessary. The remaining minor figures, without leadership, would not cause any tumult, as it’s inevitable for them to scatter once the leader falls.
How could Qi Kexin not understand this? She had already learned of Han Ya’s death and could only bet on herself now. If she wins, she and her father would be free. If she loses, she would hardly escape the law’s punishment.
In her mind, she had long formulated a foolproof plan and firmly believed she couldn’t lose.
"Throughout my life, I’ve had my ups and downs, lingering a few times on the edge of life and death, but in the end, I’ve roamed free, reigning supreme," Qi Qinhu finally spoke up, breaking the silence in the car. He glanced at the surroundings with confidence and said, "Setting a tiger free to return to the mountain brings endless trouble. Many understand this maxim, yet they commit foolish acts under compelling circumstances, assuming that letting me go means they can recapture me. But the result always ends in my escape to freedom."
His words were a blatant provocation. He prided himself on believing that Zhang Lu and others couldn’t do anything to him, so he acted with impunity.
"We’ll meet again in the future, especially Yao Yue. By the way, I don’t know your real name yet. Would you mind telling me?" Qi Qinhu’s gaze was fixed on Yao Yue, the undercover agent he once trusted deeply. He calmly said, "Next time we meet, I don’t know what the circumstances will be, but I can guarantee one thing: at that time, you will all be my prisoners, and I will be the one who controls your lives and deaths."
His hatred for Yao Yue was bone-deep, and killing her alone wouldn’t suffice to vent his anger.
Yet, he hid his murderous intent deep within, knowing he’d seek revenge eventually.
Whether it be Yao Yue, Zhang Lu, or Ye Fan, everyone before him had become his targets for elimination. This was a drug lord’s modus operandi—those who had humiliated him wouldn’t have a good end; that was for sure.
"Shut up, or I’ll break your legs," Chi Qinyuan warned, brimming with killing intent.
"Ha, your rogue demeanor is still so evident. Is it something developed after mingling with me, or have you had this character since birth?" Qi Qinhu smirked.
"Bang!" Chi Qinyuan threw a punch directly at Qi Qinhu’s face.
Chi Qinyuan wasn’t courteous as she mocked, "Let me teach you the meaning of bowing down when under another’s roof. If you don’t understand this, I don’t mind giving you a lesson in punches and kicks."
Qi Qinhu twisted his jaw, moving his swollen face before spitting out a mouthful of blood.
He didn’t show anger nor speak again, and even his expression lacked fury.
He understood that as a prisoner, any threat would seem laughable, and anger would only lead to humiliation. He decided to remain silent, bottling up all his murderous intent.
He firmly believed in the saying, "A biting dog doesn’t bark." Being subdued is the best choice when you have no power over life and death because anything else would only bring senseless disgrace.
"What a thing you are, stubborn as a mule. Do you need a beating to learn your place?" Chi Qinyuan threatened vehemently, "I know you’re contemplating a thousand ways to execute me, making my life hell, but you need the opportunity. Until you get that, shut up."
The corner of Qi Qinhu’s mouth twitched, a trace of hidden malice flitting across his eyes.
In the forest, Qi Kexin and Hong Mei stood together on a higher ground, allowing them to see the vehicles of Zhang Lu and her team.
Beside Qi Kexin, several big men wielding weapons stood silently, with a murderous aura permeating the atmosphere.
"Miss, Zhang Lu is here. When do we act?" Hong Mei asked softly.
"Is everything ready?" Qi Kexin replied with a cold expression.
"All preparations are done. Once we retrieve the boss, we can retreat safely," Hong Mei confidently declared.
"That’s good," Qi Kexin smirked coldly, her voice sweet as she announced, "Next, let’s have some fun. Thinking you could capture us, how naive."
"Shall I go fetch the boss myself?" Hong Mei asked for instructions.
"Go ahead," Qi Kexin waved her hand, instructing, "Just be sure not to reveal any flaws; follow the original plan."
"Yes," Hong Mei nodded with a bow and left.
Soon, Zhang Lu, Chi Qinyuan, and Lin Bowen escorted Qi Qinhu out of the car, meeting Hong Mei.
Ye Fan and Qiu Wen remained in the car, with no need to reveal themselves.
Hong Mei cast a meaningful glance at Chi Qinyuan, then sneered with disdain, taunting, "Miss Chi Qinyuan, should I call you Yao Yue, or is Miss Chi more appropriate?"
"Enough with the nonsense. Speak another disrespectful word, and I won’t mind slapping you a few times before we discuss other matters. We need to talk to Qi Kexin; you, a minor character, have no say," Chi Qinyuan retorted sharply.
"You..." Hong Mei was about to get angry but restrained herself, remembering her mission. Now wasn’t the time to be angry or settle scores; important tasks took precedence.
She turned to Zhang Lu, smiling, "You’re Zhang Lu, right? The miss can’t come at this time. If she were to come out to pick someone up, wouldn’t that be playing into your hands? Such foolishness, we won’t do. We all understand each other’s thoughts, so let’s be straightforward. I’m here to take the boss back."
"Who do you think you are? Where’s the coward Qi Kexin?" Zhang Lu asked discontentedly.
"Here’s the miss’s phone. I think you’ll find it necessary to speak with her directly," Hong Mei dialed a number and handed it to Zhang Lu.
Zhang Lu took the phone, not expecting a face-to-face talk with Qi Kexin. As long as Qi Kexin makes an appearance, it’s enough.
Being able to catch up and eliminate Qi Kexin afterward depends on her skills.
