CHAPTER 106: – A GENIUS –

Next, she felt this heavy gust of wind slap against her back. She didn’t even had the time to turn, when all of sudden, his silhouette stood right in front of her, the only she’d seen being a flash.

Sabrina jolted and froze in fear, her face gone pale.

"N-nikolas Bastiani."

"It was you." Nikolas’s figure towered over her and looking at him right now, she felt like she was staring at a mountain threatening to pressure her into the ground.

There was no way he wasn’t aware she was the one who brought things to this point. He wouldn’t kill her, would he?

’No way. He loves Viviana. He wouldn’t hurt me’ But did she even believe her own words. He was grinning at her like he was plotting in his head.

She curled to herself. "I-it was me what?"

"You took photos of me."

"So?" she asked. "You were lying to my bestfriend. Hmph! There was no room for negotiations. A-and just so you know, I’m not afraid of you just because you’re not human."

Nikolas narrowed his eyes on her. He smiled suddenly and grabbed her arm.

"What are you doing?" Sabrina’s gaze broadened.

"Oh, we need to talk." He began to drag her off towards his company building.

Sabrina scratched the heel of her feet on the floor, trying to escape. "Don’t think I don’t know what you’re trying to do. Kill me and hide my body? Never! HELP!" she screamed. "I refuse to perish like this!"

Nikolas was speechless.

This... What was this situation?

"Can you quiet down?" he asked.

"No!" She glared evenly at him.

Nikolas blinked at her. How was she even close friends with Viviana? They were complete opposites of each other. While she was like an erupting volcano, Viviana was more of a calm lake.

He pinched between his brows, shaking his head. "We need to talk. I’m not going to hurt you." He yanked her after him. "Do you think that just because I’m not human, I go around hurting people?"

"Don’t you?" Sabrina had quieted down, following him.

Nikolas almost wanted to roll his eyes. "What do you think is the one difference between me and a human?"

She furrowed her brows.

"Well, you’re strange. I mean, the eye thing, and that black stuff. And you didn’t burn inside fire. It’s just all weird, and it’d be a lie if I said I’m still not freaked out."

"You don’t look that freaked out to me."

"Duh? I don’t want to go mental."

They stepped into the company and every worker they passed by, bowed with a polite smile. One thing she noticed was just how impeccably professional they dressed. Some of the female workers were in suit pants or skirts, to each their preference.

Taking the elevator, Nikolas brought her to his office where he offered her a seat and a cup of tea. She however declined, crossing her legs. "So what do you want from me, brother in law?"

"Brother in law?" Nikolas arched his brow.

"Blood is not all that makes one family. I’ve known Viviana since we were like six. She’s my sister obviously. That also means you need my approval and things are not looking really good for you right now. On the other hand, I can put in a good word for you." She grinned.

Nikolas’s forehead formed a thick line. "You are one scheming woman."

"What can I say?" She shrugged. "So what business do you want with me?"

Nikolas steepled his fingers. "I want to get Viviana back. And I need you to tell me what I can do."

"Oh..."

Sabrina’s face grew with the massive smile that emerged. She tilted her head to the side, lifting her legs to drop them on his desk.

Nikolas’s eyes twitched. He picked up a fountain pen, using it to push her legs off. "The sole of your shoes are disgusting."

They stared at each other for a long while before she finally gave in, rolling her eyes. "Fine, I’ll help you. As your sister in-law, it’s my job. But."

"But what?"

"This is going to be a transaction."

"A transaction?"

"Yup." She nodded. "You help me. I will help you as well."

"Is that so?" Nikolas leaned back against his seat, crossing a leg over the other. His eyes darkened, deeply scrutinizing this woman. "And what do you need my help with?"

"A job."

"A what?"

"A job," Sabrina repeated. "Give me a spot in your company. And my help is all yours."

Nikolas lifted a brow. "You want to work here at Bratva?"

"Yes."

Sabrina leaned into the desk.

"Why? Can’t afford that?"

Nikolas rested his chin against his fisted hand. "It’s not really a big deal. But this is Bratva, my biggest and most important business company. I can’t just employ you."

"Why not?"

"What qualifications do you have?"

"A degree? Is that what you’re asking for?"

Nikolas shrugged. "Do you need me to spell it out for you?"

Sabrina felt dejected.

"I... I don’t have one."

"Yet, you want me to just hand over a job to you."

"Yes." She nodded confidently. "I don’t need a degree to have capabilities. Sure, it’s great, but this is talent, alright?"

Nikolas cocked a brow. "Is that so?

"What is your talent then? Do tell."

"I’m good at tech stuff," Sabrina said.

Nikolas cocked a brow. "Is that so?"

"C’mon." She said ticking off each reason on her fingers, "I’m good at tracking people down. Hacking. Accounting, ten out of ten. You can even ask Viviana, she’ll tell you. I can manage your tech department. I can even assist in any project you decide to build, the difference this time is...you have a genius to assist you."

"A genius?"

"Yes. I may not have gotten a degree, but even a person with a degree ain’t better than I am." She folded her arms, holding his stare with confidence. "See, I would have worked at Vizera Luxe, but she would need her father’s permission to employ me. And it sucks because she knows my talent more than anyone."
