CHAPTER 130: CHAPTER 130: SPREAD THE WORD—JACK YATES CAN’T PERFORM

As soon as Renee Winslow spoke, everyone in the ward was stunned.

Kyle Sheffield rubbed his nose, coughed lightly with his fist against his lips: "Mr. Yates, I have a meeting with Anson’s secretary at 4 PM, so if there’s nothing else, I’ll head out first."

Harvey Lancaster said nothing and walked out with a blank expression.

Benjamin Lane and Henry Hayes quickly followed him out.

Only Renee Winslow and Jack Yates remained in the room. Faced with Jack’s silence, Renee already had an answer in her heart, but she didn’t openly expose him. She wanted to be completely sure before deciding whether to confront him directly or agree to his gamble.

So, she continued to pretend she didn’t know anything, putting on a concerned facade, looking softly at Jack, and gently stroking his face: "You’re so badly hurt, stop moving around so much. From now on, just change your dressings and get your drips here."

Jack Yates: "Okay."

Renee Winslow gave him a peck on the corner of his lips, stood up, and playfully asked, "Can I go outside to buy a drink?"

Jack Yates: "What do you want to drink? Let Benjamin go buy it."

Renee Winslow frowned, showing dissatisfaction: "I want to buy it myself."

Jack Yates: "Then let Benjamin and Henry accompany you, but don’t go far."

After leaving the hospital, Renee Winslow cheerfully said to Benjamin Lane, "Ben, could you please buy me a cup of coffee?" Then she turned to Henry Hayes, "Henry, I want to go to a pharmacy to buy some medication. Could you take me to one run by Chinese people?"

Henry Hayes said, "You can just ask the doctor in the hospital to prescribe medication for you."

Renee Winslow bit her lip, shyly explaining, "My period is near, and it’s for that, so any pharmacy will do. It needn’t be too complicated."

Benjamin and Henry exchanged glances, then Benjamin spoke, "You accompany Miss Winslow, and I’ll go get the coffee."

Henry Hayes took Renee Winslow to a Chinese-run pharmacy, a chain spanning the northern part of Southeast Asia, with multiple outlets in every border city.

At the entrance of the pharmacy, Renee Winslow turned to Henry Hayes, "Henry, you needn’t follow me in. I’ll be right out after I’m done."

Henry Hayes didn’t suspect anything and stood at the entrance, keeping his gaze fixed on Renee Winslow.

Renee Winslow entered the pharmacy and casually pulled a young sales assistant into a corner, whispering, "Do you guys have any pills that can boost a man’s confidence?"

The assistant, speaking in heavily accented Mandarin, asked with confusion, "Could you specify the medication name?"

Renee Winslow felt her face flush, lowering her voice further, "My boyfriend, he’s... not too capable, and he feels embarrassed to come buy medicine, so I just..."

The assistant nodded knowingly, eagerly asking, "Is it erectile dysfunction or premature ejaculation?"

Renee turned even redder at the assistant’s blunt words, coughed, and stammered, "It’s just... he... can’t get it up properly."

The assistant, seriously inquired, "Is it complete inability or just insufficient firmness?"

Renee felt her cheeks burning with embarrassment. She glanced around nervously before quickly saying, "Complete inability."

The assistant smiled slightly, "We have a new medication that specifically addresses your issue. Please wait a moment while I fetch it for you."

Renee Winslow: "All right, thank you."

After the assistant left, Renee exhaled a long breath.

Suddenly, someone tapped her shoulder, causing her to spin around in fear, thinking that Henry had silently come in. But upon seeing who it was, she froze momentarily, then grew even more wary.

Harold Leonard looked at her with a knowing smile, "This boyfriend who’s not too capable, it wouldn’t be Jack Yates, would it?"

Renee Winslow: "No."

After buying the medicine, Renee anxiously darted out of the pharmacy, telling Henry Hayes, "Quick, let’s go."

Hardly had Renee left when Harold Leonard followed her out, watching her closely before turning and heading in the opposite direction, soon entering a roadside Maybach.

Seated in the driver’s seat, Harold Leonard said to the man beside him, "Matthew, guess who I just saw."

Matthew Shaw, without lifting his head from his reports, coolly replied, "Caught a glimpse of Jack Yates’ little girlfriend, did you?"

Harold Leonard chuckled, "Exactly. I saw her in the pharmacy buying medicine. She mentioned her boyfriend can’t perform and was getting him something to help."

Seated in the back, Declan Donovan, alarmed at this statement, raised his voice, "What, Jack Yates can’t perform?"

Harold Leonard coughed, "She said it wasn’t Jack Yates."

Declan Donovan scoffed, "Ha, she’s covering for Jack Yates."

Matthew Shaw also laughed, "Jack was just in Northern Myona a few days ago, and there she is. Who else could it be if it’s not Jack?"

Harold Leonard shivered inexplicably, hurriedly clasping his hands and pleading to both Matthew Shaw and Declan Donovan, "Matthew, Declan, let’s pretend we don’t know about this. Make sure this doesn’t get out, and if it does, don’t say it came from me."

Declan Donovan sneered, "Look at you, acting spineless. Even if Jack finds out, what’s he gonna do, chop yours off and attach it to himself?"

Harold Leonard sighed, "Declan, you can’t say that. For a man, face matters, especially someone of Jack Yates’ status. We don’t need to provoke him, do we?"

Declan Donovan coldly replied, "He’s a big shot from the Capital; instead of staying there, he insists on meddling in the South and snatching our business. Can you tolerate it? Do you think Matthew or I can tolerate it?"

Matthew Shaw didn’t say a word, his expression remaining icy.

Declan Donovan continued, "This Southeast Asian market is juicy, and even Matthew and I haven’t had our fill. Yet he wants to muscle in and grab a share. Damn it, there’s no need to show The Third Young Master Yates any courtesy."

Harold Leonard was left speechless, rubbing his nose awkwardly.

Declan Donovan picked up his phone, unlocked it, and sent a voice message to "The Southedge Pantheon" group: "Brothers, spread the word, Jack Yates can’t perform, he’s useless."

-

Renee Winslow rarely drank coffee; having one cup in the afternoon meant she wouldn’t sleep all night—not that she didn’t want to, but she couldn’t!

Today, she had no choice but to down a big cup in the afternoon to test Jack Yates.

After dinner, the doctor came to administer Jack’s IV.

Renee watched as the needle pierced into the back of Jack’s hand, and the pale yellow fluid began to flow into his body.

Seeing this, Renee began to question, was she overthinking things?

But whether it was true or not would be evident that night.

After the IV, Renee lay down beside Jack.

Hardly a moment passed before Renee began yawning repeatedly, looking quite sleepy.

Jack Yates raised his freshly treated left hand, gently patting Renee’s back: "Sleep tight."

Renee closed her eyes, and soon her breathing became steady.

A minute, two minutes, three minutes...

Renee silently counted past four hundred numbers in her mind until, as she reached 451, the person next to her moved.

Jack turned over, cradling her in his arms, first kissing her face, then her lips.

Renee remained still, using sheer willpower to continue feigning sleep.

Jack kissed her for a while, soon growing unsatisfied with just light kisses, flipping over completely to press against her, burying his face in her chest.

Just then, Renee opened her eyes, raising a leg to hold Jack’s shoulder, "Third Brother, are you sleepwalking?"
