CHAPTER 50: CHAPTER 50: CARRYING HER UPSTAIRS

Renee Winslow’s freshman year started with her living in a triple dorm room with Joyce Pierce and Ivy Jansen.

By the second semester, both Joyce and Ivy had boyfriends. At that time, Renee was the only one without a boyfriend, but now she has one too.

This semester, Renee didn’t stay in the dormitory anymore, but her bed in the dorm was still kept. Jack Yates paid for her accommodation fee so she could go back to the dorm for a nap at noon.

She knew that Jack wanted her to continue to maintain contact with her roommates, so their friendship could last longer.

Because of these small gestures, Renee’s fondness for Jack increased day by day.

But today, Jack’s overbearing and authoritarian attitude made Renee’s liking for him decrease a bit.

He was too domineering, with a strong desire for control, and Renee didn’t like being controlled. After saying that in a fit of anger, she directly hung up the phone.

Afterward, Renee carried on as usual, eating and singing with her roommates, singing until nine o’clock. When the time came, she walked out of the KTV with her roommates.

Outside, it started to rain softly, Ivy and Joyce both shared an umbrella with their boyfriends.

Today was Ivy’s birthday, and not only did her boyfriend come, but one of her boyfriend’s roommates also came.

Joyce also brought her boyfriend, only Renee was alone.

While eating, Ivy teased, "Renee, why didn’t you bring your boyfriend along?"

Renee replied, "He’s busy with work and couldn’t make it."

Joyce asked, "Is your boyfriend already working?"

Renee: "Yeah."

Joyce asked again, "How old is he?"

Renee: "In his twenties."

Twenty-eight is also in the twenties, she wasn’t lying.

Ivy handed her extra umbrella to Renee and said to her, "Renee, you can share an umbrella with Owen, head to their male dorm first, then you can go back. Is that okay?"

Owen is Ivy’s boyfriend’s roommate.

Renee was about to refuse when Owen said, "I’ll just escort you. Where do you live?"

Ivy smiled and said, "She lives off-campus with her boyfriend. It would be inconvenient for you to send her back, so you don’t need to."

Owen didn’t say anything more and took the umbrella from Renee’s hand.

Renee and Owen shared an umbrella, walked to the school gate, and saw the black Hongqi with double flashing lights parked at the entrance. Renee shivered and quickly said to Owen, "You go on ahead, I have something else to do."

After saying that, she quickly ran into a shop outside the school gate.

After Owen went inside, Renee quickly ran to Jack Yates’ black Hongqi car, opened the front passenger door, and got in.

Jack was holding a cigarette, turning his head to blow smoke out the window.

Renee tugged at his arm and cautiously asked, "Are you mad?"

Jack stubbed out his cigarette and turned back to look at her, "Renee, not again."

Renee softly replied, "But, am I not allowed to have dinner with friends?"

Jack: "I never restrict your friendships. You can eat with your friends, but not past eight in the evening, and definitely not share an umbrella with another guy." He said in a mild tone, "I get angry."

Renee softly explained, "It suddenly rained today, and I didn’t have an umbrella."

Jack reached out and stroked her face, "You can come to me for anything, not someone else."

Renee hugged his arm, tilted her head to kiss his cheek, and softly coaxed, "Okay, okay, don’t be mad anymore. Tonight I’ll give you..."

She bit her lip gently and kissed his cheek again, her red lips brushed his ear, "Don’t be angry, okay?"

How could Jack still be angry? He reached out to ruffle her hair, "Sit properly and fasten your seatbelt."

Renee giggled, sat up straight, and smiled as she fastened her seatbelt.

She had a bit of alcohol, not much, slightly tipsy, and as soon as the car started, she felt dizzy, leaned against the seat back, and soon fell asleep.

The car parked into Thatcher Manor, Jack got out of the car, walked to the passenger side, opened the car door, and carried Renee out, holding her steadily as he walked into the house.

When Renee woke up, Jack was carrying her upstairs.
