CHAPTER 30: MINOTAUR GATE PART 2

The news about what happened was on every television station, every social media platform, every virtual platform, it was everywhere.

Silva sat in the living room, legs crossed on the table with a simple jogger on and a white t-shirt. He was watching the news on what had happened, and then suddenly the scene changed to him bringing out some students.

*(An awakened was seen helping students during the beginning of the incident, before any other awakened came. He saved over ten students and was said to have defeated at least five or more orcs.

His name has been kept anonymous, along with all other awakened that helped in the situation.)*

Silva stared at the screen with a shocked look on his face, he had no idea that he had been caught on camera.

"Seems you are famous now, bro," Ella spoke from the kitchen.

Silva palmed his face and dragged his hands down, he let out a long groan. "This is not what I need right now," he said.

"Well, you played hero, and that’s what comes with it," she said with a smile.

"Tsk, at least my face isn’t out there, and the public tends to forget about stuff in a few days," Silva said and kept watching.

Knock knock.

He turned to look at the door. "Yeah, come in," Silva said, not even bothered to check because he knew who it was. The door opened and Peter walked in.

"There’s our little hero," he said with a wide grin.

"I’ll break your skull," Silva threatened.

"That’s not very hero-like," Peter said with a laugh. He waved at Ella in the kitchen and she waved back before he headed for the couch.

He crashed beside Silva. "Ahhhhhh. Today was stressful, those goblins were tough," he said and stretched.

"I didn’t see you there," Silva said.

"Yeah, probably because you were busy fighting against orcs while I was busy struggling against goblins.

Just a few days ago I was the one trying to protect you, and now we don’t see each other for some time and you’re killing high-level monsters," Peter said.

"Uhm, I, I," Silva wanted to explain, but nothing came out.

"No need to say anything, bro, I’m not pissed or anything, I’m happy for you. For once in your life, things are going your way.

I don’t know how you got stronger, but it’s good, you can finally protect your sister like you always wanted," Peter said.

"Yeah," Silva replied, he dropped his legs from the table and clasped his fingers together. "That’s the goal, always," he said.

Peter looked at him, then patted his shoulder, a solemn look on his face like he was about to give some good advice.

"Now that you are stronger, that means more cash, which means we can do a little spending, right?" Peter asked, a wide grin on his face.

"What the hell, dude, you just killed the mood," Silva said.

"Screw the mood, there is a crazy virtual game only at the Grand City Mall. It allows you to play against monsters from B, A, and S-ranked gates, though their power will be toned down," Peter explained.

"Fighting S-ranked monsters? That sounds pretty good," Silva said.

"Yeah, it’s all the rage, but pretty expensive to play, and personal consoles have not been released yet, so we have to go to the mall," Peter said.

"Well, I have a lot to do tomorrow, so how about the day after tomorrow? Ella needs some new stuff as well," Silva said.

"I do?" Ella asked from the kitchen.

"Yes, you do," Silva replied.

"Alright, that works. Also, do you mind if I crash with you today? My father came back from his journey and the house is kinda tense right now," Peter said.

"You guys still haven’t straightened things out?" Silva asked.

"No, but don’t worry about it," Peter said.

"You really have to do it, bro," Silva said.

"Yeah, yeah, I know, but not now," Peter said. His face shifted into puppy eyes. "So can I stay?"

"Yeah, yeah, it’s not like I can refuse."

"Exactly, you love me too much." Peter said and got up. "I’ll go help Ella in the kitchen," he said.

They had dinner together and then Peter crashed in Silva’s room.

Silva acted like he was asleep until he was certain Peter was sleeping, then he rolled out of bed.

"System, use the Minotaur gate key," he said, and a gate opened. He walked in immediately. As the gate closed, Peter opened his eyes, he stared at where the gate had been.

"I hope you aren’t doing anything to hurt yourself, bro," he muttered and went back to sleep.

[.....]

Silva walked out of the gate into the same place that he had come before.

Last time, he had used one Minotaur to level up a lot, so now he wanted to go further. He started walking, his gauntlet on his arms.

After a few more meters of walking, he heard a low growl. There was a Minotaur behind the corner. He used his sensing and saw the Minotaur sitting on the ground, its axe leaned over its shoulder.

Silva took the corner and the Minotaur sensed his presence. It immediately stood up and faced him. It let out a resounding roar that shook the walls.

’Even if I’m stronger now, there is no way that I can fight against a Minotaur, but I have more skill and tricks in my bag, winning will be easier,’ Silva thought.

He stood there waiting for the Minotaur to attack. It rushed forward, every step shook the ground, it swung the axe at full force. Silva leaped and rolled, dodging the attack and getting behind the axe.

He got on his feet, then used a claw strike. It slashed into its back, the cuts went deep into its flesh. The Minotaur let out a roar and utter, slashing into the ground. The floor exploded and blasted debris everywhere, some slammed into Silva and cut his skin, drawing blood.
