CHAPTER 59: TRIDENT

After a full ten minutes of not moving at all, he was fully healed up and could get back up. He pushed himself up and walked to the crater where he saw part of the tendrils and something else there.

A green orb filled with green fog, it was the size of a basketball.

"Is that the core of the entire gate?" he asked. He couldn’t bring himself to believe it because, well, he had never gotten close to the core of any gate before.

The ultimate reason for any awakened entering the gates was to destroy it and take the core. Despite the fact that in this time, many used the gates as ways to get strong so that they could get ahead in life outside the gate.

The underlying reason still and always was to destroy all gates from Earth and bring humanity peace.

"If I pull out the core, the entire gate comes down in a matter of minutes, it will kick everyone out and this would be the end of this gate as a whole."

He looked around. There were a ton of Lizardmen bodies scattered along the ground. He decided to focus on carving the cores out of everyone first. He took his time and dug through their skills, gathering every core, and then he turned to the core of the gate.

He saw a tendril lying beside it inside the crater that was there. He walked in and stretched his hands over the tendril.

"I hope this works," he said. "Demonic forge."

For a few seconds nothing happened, but then suddenly, energy started gathering from around, picking every particle of the tendrils that had been obliterated and gathering it before it started changing form into a weapon.

Silva watched eagerly, wanting to know what was being formed. A trident formed before his eyes, a weapon blade of black steel engraved with extreme details.

And at the base below the three sharp tips was an eye, a demonic-looking eye. Silva could already feel the energy emanating from the trident.

He stretched out his hands to touch it, and as soon as his finger touched it, a blast of energy struck him, throwing him back. He slammed into the ground, rolling for a few seconds before coming to a stop.

[You have been challenged, subdue your demonic artefact]

He looked at the message. It didn’t take a genius to understand what was happening. The weapon somehow had its own consciousness and was now defying the person that made it.

Silva got up and looked at the trident. "You don’t see me as worthy? Alright then, I’ll beat it into you," he said and dashed forward. The trident pointed at him and purple lightning shot out of it, ripping through the ground, headed for Silva.

"Lightning? You have to be joking." Silva leaped out of the way and dodged the attack. He rolled and got on his feet before using Claw Strike left and right to attack.

The trident swung and cut through both attacks at the same time, then it lunged forward like a spear, right for Silva.

But Silva reacted fast enough and dodged it, then he grabbed onto it, using all his strength to force it back, but the trident charged itself with lightning that blasted Silva away.

Silva flipped in the air and landed on his feet. He skidded back a few meters, keeping his eyes locked on the trident.

The trident then started spinning like a drill and gathering even more lightning. It lunged forward, Silva raised his gauntlets to block.

BOOOOOM!

The entire nest shook, Silva was knocked back, slammed into a wall, and fell to the ground. The trident came close and hovered over him as if checking if he was dead.

Then suddenly, Silva leaped up and grabbed the trident before punching with his freed hand, using all the stored-up force in one massive punch.

BAM!

The trident was thrown back so fast it hit a wall. Silva chased after it. He activated Minotaur’s Rage, moving even faster.

He leaped into the air for a Superman punch, the air cracked as the gust traveled, all the energy stored inside the gauntlets released at that moment, blasting right into the trident, knocking it down hard.

He stood over it. "Are you done, or do you want to go more?" he asked.

The trident floated up, and rather than attack, it came into Silva’s hand, meaning it had surrendered.

[Demonic Forge (Unique), Lightning Trident: a sentient weapon forged to cause storms and rip through enemies.]

This was the first weapon he forged that had its own very unique name.

"I’ll call you Tri for short. You and I will be having a lot more adventures together," Silva said. Finally, he could turn his attention back to the core.

He walked to it and placed his hands on it. He felt the immense energy that the core had. He imagined if he could take all that energy into his body, but even if he could, it would probably kill him. It was the energy of an entire small dimension, after all.

He pulled it. It resisted a little, and then dislodged from where it was. Immediately, the entire gate began shaking, trembling hard.

Everyone inside the gates was shocked because they all knew what this meant: someone had found and removed the core of the gate.

There was no need to panic, unless you were inside a subspace of the dimension like a special room or somewhere. If that was the case, it was possible for the gate to get closed with the person inside.

But normally, everyone would be kicked out a few minutes after. The awakened inside started talking amongst themselves, wondering if someone from the big guilds had come and dealt with the gate and that’s why it was closing.

Unknown to all, the culprit was seated in the nest eating some jerky he took along while waiting for the gate to kick him out.
