CHAPTER 8: DEMONIC ENERGY

Silva looked at both men, he took a deep breath to calm himself. The screen was still in front of him, but they couldn’t see it. Yet he wanted it gone so that it wouldn’t distract him and pull the attention of the two.

As he thought about the screen vanishing, it did. ’So that’s how it works, with just a thought.’

The man on the chair asked the first question, "Tell us, what happened inside the gate?"

’There is no point in lying to them, they probably already got information from the survivors. I should just tell.

But what about my mark and this screen, do I tell them? No, that’s for me to figure out, they don’t need that information.’ Silva thought.

"The gate was meant to be a D-ranked gate, easy to handle. We went in, but everything changed, the monsters inside became ten times stronger.

That was where it all went down... sigh... we found a room to hide, but all that did was wake a creature that had been sleeping there, his name was Nubris.

...he...he wasn’t just powerful," Silva stuttered heavily, "he was beyond powerful... he needed no need to swing his hands to attack, he blew heads with only thoughts.

He toyed with us and said only two of all the people in that room would get out," Silva said, then swallowed hard.

"I see, yet somehow you managed to stay alive," X-16 said. "Care to throw more light on that?"

’This is where the mark on my hand suddenly kicked in, but I don’t know exactly what it was, and I can’t tell anyone until I figure it out for myself.’

"I don’t know, I knew I passed out, and when I woke up I was here in the hospital," Silva replied.

"I see. We’ll take a leave for now, but we will be keeping an eye on you for the meantime. The guild handled your bill, and also moved your sister to a nicer apartment.

The incident was due to the guild’s inability to properly grade a gate," X-16 said and the both of them walked out.

Silva watched until the door closed, then he heaved a massive sigh of relief.

Outside the door, Mia was standing there. She looked at the high agents, "So, did you find anything that could have caused his healing?" she asked.

"Not yet, Doctor Mia. The kid is hiding something, but we are unable to push for public reasons. The public already knows that three people escaped the incident.

If one vanishes, it will be a massive public uprising. For now, keep an eye on the kid, and report anything you find unusual to us," X-16 said and walked past her.

She looked at the door of the room, she had so many questions that she wanted answers to. Silva had been brought here two days back and his body was riddled with the craziest types of wounds, inside and outside his body.

He was close to death, but as the minutes passed, the wounds started healing on their own. She was shocked at first, she tried to find out the details of his own awakened ability, and she discovered it was sensing, so how was he healing so fast?

Mia folded her arms and grabbed her arm tight, she bit into her lip.

’Could it be that somehow he went through a second awakening? That looks like the best solution.

But healing at that speed, it would take at least an A-ranked ability to do that passively when the person isn’t awake.’

She took a deep breath and walked away from the door. She would get to the bottom of this.

There was a lot for Silva to get through and understand. He looked at the system with a confused look in his eyes.

As like an angel to his rescue, the female voice returned to explain it to him.

"What the hell do you mean a lesser demon?" Silva asked, trying to wrap his head around the current issue. Then he recalled the system notice saying it was the Primordial Demon System.

’So if this system is inside me, then I must now be a demon.’ he thought. It didn’t make a lot of sense, but right now barely anything did, so he decided to go with it for now.

"So what is demonic energy?"

[Demonic energy is refined negative energy, an energy form given off when something isn’t giving happiness and calmness. Negative energy evolves into demonic energy, the source of the demon’s strength.

’Demonic energy is the energy demons use? Normally humans use mana, mana that originated from the gates. I have never heard of demonic energy, that means it’s not known, thank goodness I didn’t tell them about the system,’ Silva thought.

He looked at the screen again and realized it greatly resembled those stat screens from virtual games.

But he wasn’t that big of a player and that’s why it took him some time to see it.

He still didn’t fully understand what this was all about, but he had a feeling that this was about to change his life and make him stronger.

"Thank the heavens for the—Arghhhhhhhhh!" He let out a pained scream the moment he spoke, his brain felt like it was hit by a hundred tiny needles.
