CHAPTER 1441: CHAPTER 1440: ANOTHER NEW HOME
"That wasn’t that bad... though I would say it is entirely thanks to these bracelets of ours and pretty much nothing else. Definitely under a day to get here~!"
Jahi was quite pleased with the journey and how smooth it had gone, both in terms of being uninterrupted and peaceful as well as being something that just had little logistical trouble too since all of the things we wanted to bring with us were stored away in the bracelets.
"Imagine having to take a caravan for weeks instead of just two carriages for a day... wouldn’t that be hell..?"
Anput was just as pleased as Jahi was since this going this smoothly meant we were here and ready to start setting things up, which for her meant being just one step closer to obtaining the ability to forge things once again.
Stepping out of the carriage and enjoying a nice, deep breath of the fresh air, we all took in our surroundings before being immediately asked to pay attention to Mom as she rallied us up to make sure we knew what we were doing.
"We’re going to be treating this as a camping trip - nothing more or less on our end - so don’t come to us for actual help. Advice, however, is something I don’t mind giving so long as you aren’t stupid. This is for free; take a look around and pick a spot to set up a base camp. One that is nearby where you want to actually begin constructing that house."
The area around us was pretty much the same in all directions; the knee high grasses swayed in the wind while the occasional tree or rock jutted out over them, while the earth itself was flat and a nice, rich and dark color that looked rather promising.
"Uh huh... and where the hell would a ’good’ spot be? This is the location of the former city, no? I don’t see it?"
"That is because we sort of... wiped it off of the map, technically. The other three as well, to a similar degree. They were being a bit troublesome and the mages got a little too heavy handed, though the humans also decided to just... demolish their pathetic cities as well. There are some ruins here and there that we could find if we so decided to, but really..."
Nirinia and Adelina were the ones who had been driving the carriages, so after making sure everything was good they joined us and offered their own advice, which amounted to ’just pick a spot’ from Nirinia and the slightly more helpful ’build somewhere just off of the rode’ from Adelina.
The road was a ill maintained dirt and stone path that went straight east to west, wide enough for two carriages - sort of - and flat enough to make traveling bearable; otherwise there was little here, and that was a bit concerning for us.
"Another thing of free advice; you have a Gods damned Earth Mage with you, so make use of her! For the love of all that is holy you lot are stupid sometimes!"
The older Demoness looked at us with a bit of a sneer, and I knew it was that ’bad’ since even Mother Ria was just nodding as she held Alessandra, which caused us all to smile wryly as we looked towards Anput.
Somehow, someway we had let that slip our minds briefly, and although I was confident that we would have had her do so eventually the fact that we hadn’t used her abilities immediately was a little embarrassing...
Just to make sure that Mom wasn’t too smug about this, Jahi immediately began to survey the area and tried to guesstimate just how much land we would need for our private property, wanting to keep us close to the road but not completely overlapping it.
As she did that I moved to stand beside my mate and said "We’re going to have to terraform a lot of the land, you know that right? The elevated area for our own home first, but we’ll also likely need to create our own waterways to make things more... bearable for the future. That and I wouldn’t mind figuring out if we could locate metal deposits to create a mine somewhere nearby."
There was so much for us to do already and we hadn’t even started doing anything yet, but that alone had my blood humming a little as the excitement began to set in slowly but surely; this was a fascinating project for us to take on, and it was something that I had dreamed of every so often.
"It is possible and we could ask someone from the Cimeriesa Clan to come over and survey the land for metal - it isn’t that expensive, and if anything they would likely do it for free just to give us more to do - but I would focus on just setting things up for us first. That is a future project for way down the line."
The golden haired Lioness was offering her advice freely, which was very much appreciated since she was more knowledgeable and experienced in this field thanks to her actual Noble upbringing, so I was willing to listen to her.
As for the advice that Nirinia gave shortly after about potentially using the mines as a way to breed monsters and create a ’farm’ based around them, I just sort of ignored that since it was definitely... not something I wanted to do.
Feasible yes, but not something I personally wanted to do, so I just ignored her and instead helped Jahi decide on the distance away from the road that would keep us just far enough away to maintain privacy.
In reality I just gave her a number and had her walk that distance to give myself a better judgement, which came out to a 150 paces away from the road; not terribly far and enough for us to not be irritated by the hubbub since I planned on that being the closest point of our new property.
Now we just needed to get started on the actual building... which we knew very little about, so that was going to be very~ fun and totally not a disaster...
