CHAPTER 1442: CHAPTER 1441: JUST GETTING STARTED

Very quickly Mom reminded us that they were not here to actually help us and instead were here on their own mini vacation, leaving us to figure things out ourselves which resulted in us just standing around for about three minutes or so as we just discussed it.

Primarily the height of this mound that we were going to create, with the overall size of it’s surface area coming next as the conversation moved over to discuss how much land we wanted to call our own.

All things that should have been planned far more meticulously and turned into the foundation - literally and figuratively - of our future, but instead we were just going with the flow as we just kind of eyeballed it and gave Anput a suggested height of about fifteen to eighteen feet.

Not too high up on its own but still very noticeable and giving us the ability to look down at the city and the surrounding areas with a bit of ease but also not being so stupidly high above that we were eligible for some land related disaster.

With someone like Anput shoring things up though we should be good, and on top of the giant mound of earth being erected we were likely going to have a rather extensive basement that would be used for a myriad of things.

That could create a stable foundation that was surrounded by this new mound of earth that would be akin to a ’root’ of our new home, though I wasn’t an engineer or entirely knowledgable about these sorts of things, so whether it would work or not was unknown to me.

It was also something that would need to be done after the fact since doing it first would be somewhat impossible and stupid for us to do considering the difference in material and layout that I would want... but then again I am just thinking this and not relaying it to the others verbally, so they had no idea what was going on in my head.

This was something for later though so I was content to just give them my ow thoughts on the matter in terms of the mound size before I decided that I should make myself useful and start setting up the camp that would be our home for a short while.

Adelina stayed behind with Anput and Jahi as they went over the ’blueprint’ in their minds while Nirinia came back to help set up at least her own tent nearby our own to create this cozy settlement that would be everything we needed for however long we needed.

"Are there any specific things that you want from this, Leone? Or more specifically, things you want inside the house?"

As we got around to setting up the giant tent and making sure everything was securely staked into the ground and not liable to fly away if any strong winds came by, I asked the Vampire something that gave her pause for but a brief moment.

"I... maybe just a nice spot for gardening so that I could grow my own herbs..? Close to the house and within the large walls that Jahi wants to build around us... something manageable but able to yield everything I could need."

Her response was about what I expected from her, the alchemically inclined Vampire asking for something to further her ability to complete things of that nature with ease; when I asked "What about for inside the house? A library, right? A cozy, well stocked library is certainly something you would want, correct?" her face lit up even more than before.

It was another predictable thing from her, and for a moment she actually stopped setting up the tent as she turned to look at three people preparing to create the beginnings of our new home; her crimson eyes were alight with a freshly planted seed of joy, warming my heart immensely since it was always nice to see her happy.

"That would be lovely, yes... a nice armchair sitting across from a fireplace, illuminated both by the warm flames and the sunlight as you read a book and enjoy some freshly brewed tea... A nice, quiet spot away from..."

She trailed off as she stared at the two louder members of our group, something that made me laugh as I nodded in agreement at the very simple fact that both Anput and Jahi would be the ones interrupting the peace and quiet on the regular.

And if they weren’t then we knew something was wrong to a certain degree within the house or we would have a rare moment of calm where they weren’t actually in the house with us, which would be immediately broken upon their return.

That was also why I was curious as to what spaces Leone would want inside of the house since we were all going to need our own as a place away from the others, somewhere that we could get a moment of peace doing something we loved.

I already knew that Anput would really only want a forge and maybe a trophy room while Jahi would occupy a portion of our yard for training as well as potentially wanting her own office or something to do her duties as the head of the family and whatnot.

As for me I was going to be rather content with a small office of my own for enchanting and other work that would need to be done while also designating the kitchen entirely for myself so that I could cook for everyone or just for myself in relative peace.

That also immediately brought me around to the ’problem’ of having to design a complete and ’perfect’ floor plan for the entire house that met everyone’s needs and didn’t take up insane amounts of space... because I was the one who was going to be keeping said space clean.

Much easier in this life with magic and what not but still a time investment that I was determined to make, so that was something that was going to need much careful consideration... though considering the amount of things we wanted to do that could all lead to creating money trying to keep the space compact was simply impossible...
