CHAPTER 1448: CHAPTER 1447: WATER PLANS

Kat PoV

The night had been a long one, and although I had absolutely loved our time outside - laying atop the soft, cool grass with the tapestry of stars illuminating us as we reveled in our intimacy - the moment we had returned to the tent I felt... guilty.

Immediately being reminded that it wasn’t just this cocky Demoness and I starting a new Chapter in our lives together out here on the plains made that special moment outside feel a little... unfair to the two who had remained inside.

Those sweet words and passionate embrace we shared beneath the light of the moon was locked between just us, leaving them to seek comfort in one another without any reassurance that we would be there for them that night as well.

It really did make me feel guilty, but thankfully the constantly present smirk on Anput’s face as well as the relaxed and flushed Leone helped soothe my guilty conscious, and I swore that they would get something special soon too.

Jahi swore as well - I could feel it thanks to the Soul Bond - but also began to immediately make good on her word as she pulled Leone into her arms and pampered the Princess with a gentle lovemaking that left her as breathless as always, just feeling more hot.

Anput just yearned for more of the same with me, and I was happy to give myself to her if it helped soothe her own ’aches’, which I could tell it did since she was a bit rougher at the start before calming down and settling for something a bit more ’normal’.

By the time we drifted off to sleep the moon had already began its descent down to the horizon, but none of that mattered since we weren’t being held to any strict schedule out here in the middle of nowhere, and even if there was need of one we were the ones who would set it.

We still woke with the rising of the sun, but if we had wanted to we could have slept longer, it just didn’t really sit right with us to waste the day when we had come to the realization that Anput could just work that fast.

So after we enjoyed a hearty breakfast with Adelina, Nirinia and our family we began to get to work again, with the Lioness joining Anput and Jahi in overseeing the construction of the house while Nirinia toyed around with an idea she wanted to show Jahi later.

With nothing of direct need requiring her, the Vampire was more than happy to just follow Mother Ria around and watch over the two children as they explored this new area with intrigue, the various grasses, flowers and occasional animal wowing them at every instance.

I had no doubt in my mind that the reason Mother Ria was taking the children around for a long walk was due to Mom and Mother having some time to themselves now; if I had to assume that Jahi had a similar libido to Mom, it would mean she was ravenous for any kind of intimacy now that we were out of the Labyrinthian.

It wasn’t something I wanted to actively think about though so I just ignored their lack of appearance around the main camp and focused on my own things, which was not much besides just... walking around and thinking.

I was doing something important, but I wasn’t going to waste effort attempting to actually do it physically when I hadn’t worked out all of the kinks in the theory just yet, which was what had me stumped.

The issue with location we were building in was a rather simple yet easily overlooked one; there were no sources of water nearby - at least above the ground - for us to use for farming, and that was a big problem.

For us we could just send someone out hunting for some big monster that was inevitably going to be found somewhere on these expansive lands, but when we had vassals to look after that couldn’t rely on mana to sustain their body’s nutrients we would need a reliable source of food.

So how could I possibly solve that issue?

I had a few ideas in mind, some of which were ’cooler’ than others but definitely inefficient; I could spend the time creating a series of intricate, complex and severely power hungry Ritual Circles that would act as a ’generator’ of water, which was the cool option.

Creating a giant lake where there had previously been no lake was such a fun idea to me since it would feel like I was playing a survival video game where I needed to bend the world to my will, but that last part was the issue.

I would need to sap the air of excess moisture and Water Mana as well as use some rare Water Mana Crystals to create a very sensitive and fragile system that would generate water for this city, which would be ’unnatural’.

Any sort of mishap could happen that would disrupt the system and cause the lake to stop producing new water, meaning it would start to dirty and slowly fade away as it was used up, so this was a bit of a risky method.

Someone could attack, an earthquake could damage it, time would erode its workings... so many things could go wrong that it just wasn’t worth it, which meant I needed to find another solution... which was another obvious one.

Wells would do wonderfully, and honestly if I found a large enough aquifer I could come back around to that giant lake idea since this would be an amplification of what existed already instead of creating something out of nothing.

Add on the eventual rains we would get and I think I could create a complex yet stable system that would nurture the city we waned to build for a long time... but again, that key word of ’complex’ was currently dancing around me, taunting me with how uncertain I was of how to achieve it.

But I would achieve it... sometime soon, because I had to achieve it or we would need to start asking for help immediately after coming here, and I did not want to do that if I could help it; the idea of Belian’s smug face as he whipped up another deal for us to agree to pissed me off a little just thinking about it...

Though perhaps I could send a letter to his wife Tabitha instead and ask for something more amicable with the promise of having her over for dinner or something... she had seemed like a nice enough lady when we met her, but anyone married to someone like Belian had to be a bit... crazy.

Which could be said of Anput, Leone and I, I suppose, but... well... never mind.
