My SSS-Rank Clone Talent: I Level Up Endlessly!
Chapter 296: Two!?
CHAPTER 296: TWO!?
Grey was a little surprised; he hadn’t expected to receive a Mythical Grimoire alongside an ancient artefact as a sort of bonus.
Either way, he was a happy camper. Not only could he escort Sophie, but he also now possessed a Mythical Grimoire.
As for other Book Masters attempting to tame such a Grimoire? That was simply impossible. The so-called trials were nothing but a scam.
With a mortal body, no Book Tamer could even hope to succeed. It was practically a guarantee that any Book Master could never tame a Mythical Grimoire.
After all, the limit of a Book Tamer in this world barely reached the level of a high-ranking Book Taming Grandmaster, which, when you think about it, wasn’t very impressive at all.
Grey was already soon to be reaching the Grandmaster Book Tamer, and it wouldn’t take long for him to advance further, but even with all of that combined, a normal high-level Grandmaster was still of mortal flesh and was nothing but a normal person with ordinary strength without a Grimoire.
A book tamer without a Grimoire simply amounts to nothing.
The only reason he was able to easily accomplish the trial was because of his skill and titles.
That means that only Grey could tame the Mythical Grimoire and allow himself to get more of those world fragments...
’Maybe I could own the world if I am able to completely accomplish it,’ Grey thought, with excitement in his heart.
"No, wait, I sense two Mythical Grimoires," Eve said.
Grey almost fell on the spot, maintaining his balance, he asked with an extremely serious expression, "Are you sure?"
"Yeah, I’m 100% sure of it," she replied firmly.
"Damn, I didn’t expect that," Grey muttered.
While the two were talking, Sophie glanced at the purple-haired woman, Eve, and thought to herself, How many women does he have?
Just then, the large castle door opened for them, shaking the ground beneath their feet.
"You may enter," a loud, clear voice announced.
"Let’s go." Grey looked at Sophie and extended his hand.
Sophie nervously glanced at his hand, swallowing hard before tentatively taking it. "What about her?" she asked, looking around but finding no one in sight. "Eh?"
"Who?" Grey tilted his head, a small smirk tugging at the corner of his lips.
"You..." she bit her lip and pouted. "Nothing."
The two of them were then swiftly escorted past the guards into the royal throne room.
At the announcement of their arrival, the entire hall fell silent.
Grey looked around. Not much had changed since his last visit, except for a few new faces and some old ones missing. The strict hierarchy of the nobles, determined by their strength, meant there was always some fluctuation among them.
And the familiar face, the king, was still there, sitting upon his throne with a regal demeanour and his eyes shimmering with authority.
"Fa... King." Sophie bowed respectfully, her expression unknown while her head was downcast.
"Hahaha, it’s been a while, Grey," the king said with a smile on his face, seeing the expressionless face of Grey as he didn’t bow to him.
"It truly has been a while now," Grey replied with a calm demeanour, his pupils flashing with an unknown light.
"Are you still angry with me because I didn’t protect your lover before?" the king asked with a raise of his brows.
"No," Grey shook his head. "You already have a valid explanation for it, and I don’t care anymore. I do not respect you because of..." He glanced at Sophie with a silent, unreadable expression.
"Because of her?" The King finally turned his gaze to Sophie. A strange light flickered in his eyes, and his brows knitted together in puzzlement. After a moment, a flash of understanding passed over him. "I see... I see."
Sophie quivered under the King’s gaze but managed to stand her ground, looking him squarely in the eye.
"I didn’t expect you to be this capable," the King said, amusement lacing his tone.
"This was not my capability, King," Sophie replied firmly.
"Then?"
"My mother’s capability," she answered.
"Oh, I never knew that a mere dancer would have such capability," the King laughed.
A strange silence rose in the place.
The King leaned back on his throne and looked straight at Grey. "Are you sure that you do not love my daughter?"
Grey shrugged. "No."
"If you say a word, then I can directly announce you as the King and my daughter as the Queen, so you can happily live. There would be no need for coronation," the King’s arms tightened over his throne’s armrest.
Grey was silent for a moment, and the tension only built before he sighed. "I really do not have any interest in your daughter nor the throne. I am only doing this for the reward that she is giving me."
"Care to tell me what kind of reward would attract you?" the King scoffed.
"This," Grey said directly, extending his hand forward.
In an instant, a red quill pen materialized before his hand, radiating fiery energy.
"An Ancient Artifact!?" The King’s eyes widened, and the nobles were shell-shocked.
They couldn’t believe their eyes as they stared at the red quill pen.
It took quite some time for even the King to calm down. After he did, he looked at Grey with clarity and said, "I see now why you were so eager to accept the mission of my daughter, not because you like her."
"Yes," Grey replied with a smile.
"Very well, then. I shall respect your wish, and you will be assigned the knight role for my daughter in the coronation. Best of luck to those who participate," the King announced.
"You do not have to worry. I am only here to protect her, not to win," Grey replied with a calm expression.
"Ho." Though the King remained expressionless, Grey could sense a hint of relief in his demeanor.
"Thank you," Sophie said, turning toward Grey with a smile.
Grey shrugged, and they were soon led by the knights and guards to adjacent royal chambers, while chaos erupted in the throne room.
