My SSS-Rank Dungeon: Reborn In A Reverse World
Chapter 58: Thanks!
CHAPTER 58: THANKS!
Evelyn listened patiently and calmly as she wondered where Leon was going with his words. Did he develop something dangerous and it harmed others?
Meanwhile, Leon didn’t notice her emotions because he was busy drowning in his own. "Once that drug spread, many died and many suffered. The man saw it all and felt guilty because it was indirectly him who caused all of their deaths and suffering."
He sighed and continued, "That man witnessed it all, so he feels even more guilty. The worst part for him is that nobody knows that it was him who made the drug."
Normally, it should have been fine since no one knew that Leon made the game and couldn’t blame him for anything. Yet, it made things worse for Leon.
Amber was comforting him while blaming the world, but she didn’t know it was him who actually designed this whole world. It was him who made her suffer so much.
Since no one was blaming him, he felt even more guilty, and that same guilt was eating him from the inside out. It was trapped within him, getting bigger and bigger.
He couldn’t talk about it with anyone since that would only make people believe that he had gone crazy. And in a world where mental health was so important, it could put him in an isolation chamber or something similar.
Besides, it was something very close to him, it was his biggest secret that he didn’t want to share with anyone.
But his mother was different. She wouldn’t ask for any explanation and would simply help him, even if she didn’t know much about it.
He just needed to mix the facts as a story and it wouldn’t matter much. Even if she knew he was talking about himself, she wouldn’t point it out.
This was the kind of woman Evelyn was.
That was also the reason he was willing to talk to her aside from the fact that he knew she could help him. She was the only one who had this right over his life.
"Mom, what do you think about that man?"
Evelyn smiled and didn’t even take a second to answer, ’I think he’s a very responsible person with a kind heart. He also has very high empathy.’
Leon shifted slightly to look into her eyes and asked, "Why do you say that? Wasn’t he the reason so many people died?"
’I wouldn’t say he was completely innocent, but he also wasn’t the cause for those deaths,’ Evelyn replied calmly, as she knew this could impact her son’s mind a lot.
’If we begin to blame the Creator for all the bad things their creation caused, I’d say it’s very unreasonable.’
She picked up a fruit knife and said, ’What do you think knives or blades in general are used for?’
"A lot of things, but to summarise, then its ability is to cut," Leon answered.
’So, whoever created the blades just thought of cutting. Maybe they made it as a weapon to cut people, or maybe they made it for cutting trees for them. My point is, the purpose is unknown, but does it change the fact that in the end, the results depend on the wielder?’ Evelyn asked.
Leon’s mind shook as he stared at Evelyn silently.
’The Creator sometimes has a clue on what their creation can be used for, and sometimes they don’t. That’s why I said that the man wasn’t completely innocent, since if he’s making a drug, then he should have thought of the consequences too.’
Leon immediately shook his head, "That’s impossible. Even top intellectual people couldn’t have predicted that, so how could he do that? Even you wouldn’t... you can’t expect that drug to be harmful in this way."
Predict the outcome? Even in his dreams, he didn’t expect his game to be turned into a reality. He highly doubted anyone would expect that.
Evelyn smiled even wider hearing that and said, ’Then, isn’t that even better? That man has no reason to feel guilty.’
"But he understands all of this, yet he still feels guilty," Leon countered.
’It’s because he’s a kind, responsible person with high empathy. He felt responsible because he is indirectly connected to it and felt guilty because of his kindness. He felt the pain and suffering others are going through and blamed himself. If he didn’t create the drug, those people wouldn’t have to suffer so much,’ Evelyn said, caressing his head softly.
Leon’s expression turned sour, as this was exactly the thought that had been haunting him. Perhaps, if he didn’t make the game, it wouldn’t have been turned into reality and so many wouldn’t have suffered.
If only...
’But I would disagree with him.’ Evelyn’s words surprised Leon. ’That drug actually made so many people happy, so if he didn’t create the drug, those people wouldn’t be happy. Perhaps, that drug even managed to save their lives.’
Evelyn smiled warmly at Leon and said, ’The man is just focusing on the bad aspects because the sufferings are more visible. But what about the positive aspects? Tell me, did that drug make people happy?’
Leon stared at his mother as various scenes passed through his mind, mainly the reviews of the game. The ones that made his day and motivated him to work even harder.
The ones that made him feel that the decade of work was worth it.
[Uncle Omni: Calling this a gacha game is like calling a nuke a firecracker. The story slaps harder than my mom’s sandal, the lore goes deeper than my GPA in high school, and the character designs are straight-up criminal. Every update feels like a festival AND a funeral, hype as hell until you realize who’s about to die. Oh, and the dev clearly mains chaos. Last patch gave us a swimsuit event in the middle of a world-ending war arc. Peak. Gimme more!!!]
[Tanllwyth01: You ever play a game that starts as a joke and ends up becoming a personality trait? Yeah, that’s this one. The writing makes you laugh, then makes you care, then drop-kicks your heart into a blender. Every character feels alive, every event is a rollercoaster, and the worldbuilding is stupidly good for something that also lets me dress my main DPS in a swimsuit for +5% crit rate. Also, the dev clearly hates sleep schedules because every update drops at midnight and you HAVE to log in. It’s not a choice. It’s a lifestyle. Still, TAKE MY MONEY AND GIVE ME SILVER!]
[TheLastHope: I can’t express what this game means to me in words, neither do I think the developers will truly understand it. But I still want to convey my true feelings. This game isn’t just a game, it’s an emotion to me. I was at my lowest when I discovered this game. I was so depressed that I was having thoughts of suicide. I won’t go into details, but I hope this tells you about my condition. But I was scared of doing it, so I chose to play this game. Why? Because I saw the trailer of Amber and it made me horny. And as they say, the best way to forget depression is through alcohol and being horny. So I began playing it, and that’s when my life changed. I still feel that was the best decision of my life. Cassie’s story gave me the courage to stand up again and try harder. It resonated with me. And that’s when I put my everything into standing up for my life again. Fast forward, I’m now earning a good sum and my life is quite good. And it all happened because I played this game. I love you, Cassie. And I love you, Developer. Sorry for such a long review, but I truly wanted to show you my feelings. Thanks for creating this game!]
