CHAPTER 92: A PUNCH?

It didn’t take Amber to be a genius to understand where Leon was going with his words.

Five years ago...

That was the time when Jade had finally managed to find Silver and sent people to protect her in secret.

That was also the time when moles entered the Formation Management team with records prior. Although she didn’t tell Leon yet, she had also asked around in the Academy and apparently, they had only hired very few people in the last three years.

She had her people investigate them in secret, and they were all in the clear.

So, the moles in the Academy had also been planted years ago.

Perhaps five years ago, when Jade found Silver.

’They were actually tracking Jade’s movement rather than Silver. But she isn’t someone who gets careless like this, so how?’ Amber clenched her fist and her eyes moved to her side.

"Anyways, that should answer you why I hate them. While I know it’s a bit unreasonable considering the things they’ve done for us, I still feel the same," Leon said.

"You’re angry for Silver or your mother?" Amber asked.

"Silver!" Leon answered instantly.

Amber nodded and patted his head, "She’ll be fine. I know the people behind her, and believe me, her bloodline isn’t simple."

"Even without that bloodline, I trust her to come back," Leon said with utmost confidence.

Amber smiled lightly and took out a purple metal card, "Go and do whatever you want today. You can have my credit card. From tomorrow... life won’t be peaceful for you, boy. Especially with the Conclave around the corner."

"That reminds me, don’t you think the Conclave is the best opportunity for them to strike?" Leon said. "The Academy will have the best security, but it will also be vulnerable to people like them. They won’t get a better chance to get close to Silver than this, or even me."

Amber nodded, "I know. That’s why I’m preparing for anything unexpected in it too. Tell me if you get any funny ideas."

Leon hummed and looked at the credit card, "You’re still using this?"

"You got a problem with that?" Amber raised an eyebrow.

"I don’t have any problems, but you know how transactions work now, so are you sure cards will work?"

Amber nodded with confidence, "I bought a bank and made it old-styled. So the cards are also legal, and anyone who dares to reject them can go to jail."

"How does that even make sense?" Leon was dumbfounded. "Never mind. Just tell me its limit then."

"It’s my bank, so of course there is no limit," Amber said.

"So you bought a bank just for this?" Leon asked for confirmation.

"Yes."

"Crazy!" Leon sighed and said. "Alright, I’ll use it well. Now go and do some work. Why are you here anyway?"

"I came to ask for some food, but it seems like these annoying kids are staying longer," Amber muttered in displeasure. "And there are even more now. Perhaps, I should remember them during training."

Leon felt a chill hearing her words and offered silent prayers for his friends. He really hoped they would survive.

"Then I’ll come back tomorrow morning to pick you up," Amber grumbled, clearly displeased by the fact that she wouldn’t get dinner tonight.

"They’ll leave in the evening. As for us, we might come late, so I hope you can accompany Mom," Leon said, staring at the smiling face of Evelyn. "She’ll be lonely from tomorrow again."

"You don’t have to worry about that. I’ll come here daily for the food, so she won’t be lonely," Amber said before she stepped back and vanished into thin air, leaving behind a few words.

"Take care of yourself. Leave everything else for me."

Leon shook his head and went to his room to change his clothes.

Meanwhile, Amber appeared on the terrace of the house, where a woman was already waiting for her. Her features weren’t quite visible due to the long white coat she wore and the black mask that covered her face.

But her long silver hair stood out even in that getup. Her beautiful blue eyes were staring at something distant, as if reminiscing about something.

Amber came to stand beside her and took out a cigarette. She didn’t say anything and simply smoked the cigarette while looking over the busy city.

"Won’t you hit me?" Jade finally asked.

"No," Amber shook her head. "Not now at least."

"Why? I can sense you’re still angry over it, so why don’t you vent it out like always?" Jade asked in a soft voice. "I won’t resist."

"And that’s my problem," Amber said. "You’re already drowning in guilt, and my punch would just make you feel a little better since you’d feel like you deserved it."

"Hah!!" Jade sighed and leaned on the glass railings. "Sometimes I really hate you for understanding me so easily."

"You are easy to understand," Amber shrugged.

"Am I? I used to think I’m not, but maybe you are right," Jade said with a bitter smile hidden behind her mask. "I deserve that punch. I’m the one who led that bitch directly to Silver."

Amber stared at the dome covering the city and said, "Do you regret doing it?"

"Trying to find my niece? Nope!" Jade shook her head. "But I do regret being this careless."

"Uhh, Big Sis, you do know we are up against that despicable bitch, so you can’t really blame yourself on this one," Amber said. "Just let me do it. It’s enough."

"Can I hit you?" Jade asked.

"Do you want to?"

"Sometimes I get the urge to."

Amber chuckled and exhaled the smoke, "Keep yourself together, Jade. You’re the eldest of us, and if you behave like this, what do you think will happen to us?"

She paused to use her cigarette again and then said, "Besides, as long as she is alive, none of us and our loved ones can live happily. She won’t stop at anything to erase everything related to the Cross Family."

"As if I will ever let that happen," Jade smirked as the skies darkened above the Vale. "She will get defeated just like the previous time. She might have gotten a few advantages in our battle, but I will never lose."

Her voice changed as lightning cracked over the city of Vale.

"Jade Cross never loses."

Amber smiled at that and said, looking at the sky which was rumbling just because of someone’s presence. It wasn’t reacting to her emotions neither it was her doing.

This was just what Demi-God represented. Even if they suppressed their presence, the moment the world feels their presence, it would bend to their liking even if they didn’t want it.

If Jade revealed her true presence, Amber could only guess what would happen.

"Why are you here?" She asked.

"I came to meet them in secret," Jade said. "But it looks like I really need to solve things first before I meet them."

Amber shrugged and said, "Do it quickly then."

Jade stared at Amber’s face and said, "By the way, do tell him that the hate is mutual."

"Huh? Why do you hate him?" Amber frowned in response.

Jade almost rolled her eyes at her response and said, "He took two important people from me, you think I won’t hate him?"

"What are you talking about?" Amber scoffed. "He didn’t take anyone from you. You’re just finding excuses to hate him."

Jade stared speechless at her and sighed, "You’re really an idiot. A very big idiot."

"Huh!? Do you really want the punch?"

"You can try, moron."
