My Super Sassy Dad: Stop Running Away, Mrs. Quinn!
Chapter 88: His Little Wife
CHAPTER 88: CHAPTER 88: HIS LITTLE WIFE
"I gave you a chance, but you didn’t take it," the Emperor remained merciless, drawing his sword and leaping into the air, aiming straight for the woman’s heart.
Red dandelions landed on the ground, followed by the woman’s body. She stared wide-eyed at the sky, tears already overflowing from the corners of her eyes, her sparkling eyes filled with intense reluctance...
Her breath ceased.
This scene was simply perfect, and though it lasted no more than a minute, it was captivating and inescapable.
Melody Thorne’s part was finished. What’s left was for her to lie there motionless, waiting for someone to "deal with" her "corpse."
"Did she just die like that?" Someone in the audience suddenly realized but found themselves deeply engrossed in the plot, tears streaming down their face.
"What a pity, the Emperor is heartless."
"How could the script be so harsh?"
"Good!" Even Director Irving couldn’t help but shout. This scene was very challenging for young actors, especially those who hadn’t graduated yet.
But Melody Thorne performed the emotion, expression, and scope with utmost perfection.
Jared Quinn’s gaze turned to Melody Thorne, his deep eyes reflecting inscrutable brilliance. He increasingly wanted to see through the hatred and despair of his young wife...
"Melody Thorne is just incredible!"
"I heard she told her advisor that she hired a private teacher."
"This is literally an acting hack."
Usually unused, but bursts out crucially at the key moment.
The play continued...
Everyone feared the prophecy of the empire’s demise, but it never came, for it was just a legend,
The clouds parted, and the warm sun emerged...
Red dandelions scattered over the woman’s body, like draping the most beautiful wedding gown on her.
The Emperor stared at the woman he had personally killed, momentarily dazed. Blood dripped from the sword in his hand, but more empty and merciless was the Emperor’s heart.
He turned away, leaving the cold body of the woman to lie on the ground, discarding the sword in his hand, reverting back to the Emperor’s icy ruthlessness. His large hand once again encircled Jade Day’s waist, whispering the vow anew, "Yao’er..."
Jade Day listened to the Emperor’s gentle whispers, no longer feeling what she did when she first heard them. She knew well that the Emperor was heartless, but she wouldn’t be infatuated with the Emperor to that extent like the other woman.
What awaited her was the endless strife of the harem.
"Bury her," Ivy sighed slightly, saying her last line as her eyes turned to the group of palace maids behind her.
Behind her were women who played palace maids, with implications clear to all.
Who knew what happened earlier; somehow, Melody Thorne’s performance was so remarkable. If Ivy weren’t the lead, all the spotlight might have been taken by her.
The props team had been focused on the stage when they inadvertently saw Ivy’s expression, thinking they saw a ghost.
But they understood in a second, as sometimes the lead had to teach a lesson to some supporting or even lesser roles.
They were long used to it; the school had such rivalry, not to mention officially entering a film set.
Stacy Lane and a few others walked to the stage with cold eyes, looking at Melody Thorne lying there. The four exchanged a glance and simultaneously grabbed Melody Thorne’s arms and ankles.
And the play above continued, unnoticed by anyone.
