CHAPTER 638: CHAPTER 637: CLINGY SPIRIT

Fu Jinghen chuckled lightly as he heard Wen Qiao lecture him authoritatively, "Alright, to avoid having Qiaoqiao despise me, I’ll work diligently."

Wen Qiao folded her arms across her chest and tilted her chin toward his desk, signaling for him to hasten there.

Fu Jinghen obediently walked over and sat down behind his desk, though his eyes never left Wen Qiao.

Wen Qiao pointed at the documents on his desk, "Why are you looking at me? Am I part of your job?"

Fu Jinghen let out an amused sigh and grabbed the proposal he hadn’t finished earlier to continue reading.

Might as well take it as preparation for a wife’s account.

The afternoon sun shone through the floor-to-ceiling windows into the vast office, bathing Wen Qiao, who lay on the sofa completely soaked in the sunlight, feeling warm and cozy, making the serene atmosphere of the office slightly lulling.

From time to time, Fu Jinghen looked up at Wen Qiao, and the last time he raised his head, he discovered that the girl had unknowingly fallen asleep on the sofa.

Curled up into a small bundle, she looked irresistibly lovable.

Fu Jinghen lightened his steps as he walked over, bent down with one arm around her shoulders and the other through her knees, and gently lifted her from the sofa.

Wen Qiao wasn’t deeply asleep yet, she cracked her eyes open slightly and murmured softly, "Fu Jinghen..."

Fu Jinghen looked down at her with a tender voice, "I’m here, go to sleep."

Wen Qiao closed her eyes again, buried herself further into Fu Jinghen’s chest, and drifted back to sleep.

Fu Jinghen opened the door to the rest room and placed Wen Qiao on the bed.

As he was about to leave, he was suddenly pulled back by a very light force; though the force was not enough to make Fu Jinghen step back, his subconscious felt it must be Wen Qiao pulling him, so he went along with it.

On looking down, he saw that her hand had somehow grasped his tie.

Fu Jinghen, quite helplessly, found it impossible to make Wen Qiao let go, so he carefully removed his tie and allowed her to hold onto it.

Fu Jinghen moved the stray hair hooking her mouth to one side and poked her cheek, "Little sticky bug."

Disturbed in her sleep, Wen Qiao suddenly turned over, her back facing Fu Jinghen, her ankles restlessly shifted, catching his gaze.

He touched Wen Qiao’s feet, finding them slightly cool, and pulled over the blanket to cover her.

After doing all this, he glanced once more at Wen Qiao’s face buried in the pillow and quietly exited the rest room.

-

When Wen Qiao awoke again, it was already nightfall, and only the lights from the shopping mall opposite shone through the thin curtains into the rest room, making the light inside not too dim.

She stared straight at the ceiling for a while before turning her head to survey her surroundings, dark and unclear, suddenly feeling a sense of emptiness inside her.

"Got some issue... I’ll be there in a bit, hmm... understood, what’s with the hurry."

A familiar yet blurred male voice came from the slightly ajar door, making Wen Qiao sit up in bed and look toward it.

A bright light also squeezed through the gap in the door.

Before her brain could react, her body had already moved reflexively; she opened the door and walked out.

Fu Jinghen, hearing the sound, turned around and saw Wen Qiao standing by the door, still clutching his tie, her delicate feet bare on the floor.

His gaze deepened, he hung up the call and walked over.
