CHAPTER 59: ALWAYS THE PROBLEM

Liam was currently in his room, resting on his bed, gazing at the ceiling, his eyes a little distant as he thought about his upcoming visit to the private vault.

He had already informed Daniel of his travel plans and the fact that he will be visiting the Rothschild’s private vault when he gets there.

Daniel had told him not to worry about anything as he will take care of every single thing, and will give him confirmation before the end of the day.

Liam smiled when he heard this. It did feel nice to just sit back and relax, while someone else take care of everything for him.

It didn’t just feel nice. It was a great feeling.

But the feeling wasn’t what Liam was focused on right now, there was something far more important on his mind.

What do I wear on the day I’m going there? The custom suit should do. It’s high-end enough. I also have two custom watches. One of them will have to do. It’s not like I’m going there to show off or anything. I just need to dress appropriately and look like someone that belongs to their circle.

Liam had tried searching up information on the private vault but he got nothing. This showed him just how secretive they are with it.

He had felt that a place like that will be discreet and access would be very limited, granted only to a selective few. But he no matter now discreet a place is, he never expect that there would be no information about it at all online.

But as always, Liam didn’t overthink it. Also, besides his appearance, he doesn’t need to do anything else as he already the other part covered with his World-Class Etiquette skill.

But he was actually curious about the place and what sort of people he would meet. With just the name, guessing their potential clienteles was very simple.

Royalties and billionaires. In other words, people of high status and wealth.

And while Liam wasn’t in the first category, he has pretty much entered the second.

"Fuuu," Liam let out a deep breath as he got up from the bed.

Enough of thinking about that place. It’s not like he’s going there immediately he lands in Geneva or the next day. It can wait for now.

There was another thing on his mind beside the trip. It was related to the system points he needs to purchase the molecular assembler.

He had planned that after his second weekly sign-in, he might consider accumulating his sign-ins. And he has done that and thought about it, and he decided that he won’t be accumulating his sign-ins.

The reason for his decision wasn’t because of the rewards—well, they partly influenced his decision. But the main reason was because if he starts accumulating, it would take him much longer to get the remaining amount he needs.

He currently has $77m in cash. Say, he makes it a round figure and he now has $70m, which means he still need $30m.

If he starts accumulating, he will receive 10 SP daily, then an increased amount for weekly, monthly and annually.

But the truth was that it wasn’t even close to being enough. 10 SP is equivalent to $100,000 but he needs $30m more. This means that he will have to accumulate for months before he can get the remaining system points he needs—3,000 SP.

There was no way that he would be wiling to sacrifice months of sign-ins for that. Making a decision like that would had been more difficult for him if the points were higher, but 10 SP wasn’t enough to make him give up on his daily sign-ins.

And the fact that he can get the money he needs much more faster through the sign-ins made him also solidified his decision.

That is decided. Now, where do I place the factory?

Liam intends to create two tech products—the quantum chip and the gaming gear glass. Both techs will be revolutionary to say the least but it will also earn a ton of heat too.

Liam had done his research on the two products and he has come to realised that he’s going to be in for a lot of crazy dramas. And this isn’t an exaggeration as he thought about it and researched it extensively.

First is the quantum chip. Without further explanation, one can already imagine just how crazy the world would go for room temperature quantum chips that are the same size of classic chips in phones and other devices.

But just as the world is going crazy, the company producing the tech and Liam indirectly will be under a lot of heat.

While Liam intends to create the company under the trust so that he can hide his identity and connection to it as its original owner, it doesn’t mean that he won’t feel the heat when things start getting hot.

And how will things get hot? The answer is already obvious, isn’t it? According to Liam’s research, the world’s governments, especially the USA, strictly controls the distribution of high-end specifications GPUs to other countries.

They already labelled it as national security asset and has placed certain embargoes on their exportation into certain countries—non-allied states obviously.

Now, imagine what they will do when a tech that’s at least 100x better than the most advanced high specification GPU in the world, gets released.

Labelling it as national security asset would be the tip of the iceberg. They will want outright control of it. Heck, they will go beyond restricting the tech to the country, nationalise it and make it American.

Liam loves his country. Don’t get him wrong on that but restricting something that’s his isn’t something he will ever be in support of.

But the problem wasn’t just the US government but all governments around the world. They will scramble for the tech and will do anything at all to acquire it.

But the truth is that the problem isn’t the government. It has never been them. The problem is the mega corporations that the mere existence of the tech threatens everything they have built.

Take for example, the current most valuable company in the world that literally has the world in its palm because of their GPU. Even with the restrictions placed on them by the US, they are still making a killing in profits.

Then there are the old guards of the tech industries, the unshakable heavyweights that will quiver in their boots when the tech hits the market.

And it’s not just the tech industry but the entire Fortune 500 companies that will be threatened. And they will do what they do best, they will lobby against the company, forcing the government to take action.

And that’s where the heat will come. This was just for the quantum chip. Now, what about the gear glass? That’s where things gets even crazier.

Liam had already played out different scenarios in his head and at the end, he decided that he would go ahead with creating the techs.

He has visualised near countless scenarios and there was no way to hide from the chaos he will bring upon the world with the techs. There are the good sort of chaos and the dark sort, but at the end, the issue isn’t with him but the world itself.

At the end, we are always the problem.
