Chapter 83
“Are you sure this will work, Jack?” A guard asked while they were working in the field.
I was granted ten people to work on the mini farm. It was around 6000 feet and enough to grow some crucial items. I had to work on the soil, though. I imbued it with mana overnight to turn it quite fertile. It wasn’t fertile enough to grow much, but it was enough for what I had in mind.
Leaf cabbage, also known as Kale, was known for its adaptability in many types of weather and soils. The same was for sweet potato, but the usage of sweet potato was drastically lower than potato, so I’d be focusing on potato instead of a much favorable crop of sweet potato.
“It’ll work,” I replied.
Once everyone was done sowing seeds of kale and half-cut potatoes, I pulled out the special fertilizer and sprinkled it across the small field. The area was easily covered in fertilizer by just one bag. The soil didn’t have any vermin or pests since I softened it using mana all night. Of course, extermination was also included.
The fertilizer wasn’t used for that, but to empower the crops. The soil was already rich and enhanced with mana, and with the addition of the fertilizer, it was guaranteed to be special. Even if it didn’t have any special effects, it would still be rich in mana, so the basic effect of mana replenishment had a very high chance.
I never grew it this way before in any of my previous lives. I mean, never with the fertilizer. Since I never got that idea before, because the world of magic had almost everything to compensate.
If this didn’t work, then I’d have to return to the method I learned in the world of magic. Hopefully, it wouldn’t come to that.
It took about an hour for everything to be done. It wasn’t much work anyway. All that was left was to water the field at proper intervals, for which the shifts were decided. The area wasn’t much, so multiple personnel weren’t needed.
Once done, I returned home since it was time for me to get out of work anyway. When I arrived, I found Cassandra waiting for me in the front yard of the house, the very place where my sisters and mother of this body licked and drank each other’s nectars.
And…
“Ugh.” Even I couldn’t help but pinch my nose. I could tell the terrible stench belonged to something, and as expected, beside her was something wrapped in a cloth, diminishing the scent to some degree, but it was still very daunting, the smell.
“You’re here.” Cassandra calmly said while sipping her tea. Lucas sat across from her, also joining her in elegantly having tea. I perched my eyebrow but refrained from saying anything. It wasn’t my business anyway.
“I have returned, young lady. Is that the promised item?” I asked.
“It is.” Cassandra replied as she finished her tea and stood up, “I’ll leave it to you.”
“You may.” I simply replied.
“Good.” She replied and then turned to Lucas, “Let’s meet again, Lucas.”
“Yes, Lady Cassandra,” Lucas replied respectfully.
Cassandra, huh?
Even if it was respectful, unless granted permission like I was permitted by Zara to call her by her name with the 'Lady' in front of it, it wasn’t possible for a commoner to call a noble by their name.
The fact that he could address her by name meant there was something more than benevolence involved. Not to mention, Lucas wasn’t even a squire like me, so that was even weirder.
“What is that filthy thing?” As soon as Cassandra was gone, Lucas’s expression turned extremely disgusting, a complete 180 from what it was in Cassandra’s presence.
I ignored him and touched the body, storing it in my inventory. Once done with that, I said, “Congratulations.”
“…” He looked at me in silence before he turned and left. No, I wasn’t congratulating him about his relationship with Cassandra. My brother had advanced in rank and entered the second star realm of aura mastery. Why he was hiding it was beyond me, but I could only give two shits at most.
I headed inside to work on what I was doing. There were many things to do before I could freely use the women of this world.

“Finally,” I muttered as I looked at the glowing cylindrical crystal in my hand. It was like a battery, only a crystal instead of lead or other elements that a battery was made of.
I didn’t waste any time and created more and more.
[You have created something that has never existed in this world before]
[A self-sufficient mana crystal]
[Would you like to name the item?]
‘Mana battery.’ I kept it straight and simple.
[Acknowledged]
[Creation (S) Mastery +4.9%]
The inspiration came from a mana container. While the mana container couldn’t act as a battery, this one could. It was like the arc reactor that one of the ultimate legends, TS, managed to make small to power his suit.
The advantage of this was that it could convert the mana power to energy to power the device I intended to build. It was rechargeable as well, so hopefully that quality would be retained when I would throw it in the creation blender.
Without further ado, after almost one third of the mana crystals in my inventory had run out, and I had about 300 mana batteries, receiving no more mastery from them, I began to make the assembled version of all the parts.
The first few tries were a failure, and my mana was going down very fast. There were still quite a lot of mana containers left, and even the consumption of mana was very low because I had made the parts separately, but given the number of failures, I would need to stop for the night.
However…
[Success]
Maybe I was sleepy, but I heard fireworks in the background.

Unfortunately, my eyes could no longer take it anymore, and I fell into a deep slumber without looking at the rewards.

“Wake up, Jack!”
I felt like a fairy was calling me, but after the haze before my eyes settled, it turned out to be Rayla.
Better than a fairy.
“What is it, Mother?” I groggily asked.
“Hurry and get up! The lady is at our door!” Rayla, however, only shook me harshly to wake me up properly and informed me of a certain guest. It could only be Zara, since Cassandra hadn’t incurred such a reaction when she came the first time or the times following that.
I shook away my fatigue and stood up. Looking outside the window, it was still dark, so either it was still night or too early in the morning. Even before my usual wakeup time. Anyway, the amount of sleep I got was enough for my fatigue to wash away a good bit, so perhaps it was close to dawn.
As I arrived in the living room where Sandra sat on the sofa, her guards behind her but a little distance away, where it would be difficult to hear what we would talk about, and Cassandra on the sofa next to her, the first thing she asked was, “Have you learned nature magic?”
I knew what that was, but I didn’t know how that was concerned here.
“No.” I was unsure of how to reply, so I asked, “Is there something that matters, Lady Zara?”
“You haven’t heard yet? Makes sense. I was informed first, it seems.” Blabbering on her own, she stood up and turned, “Follow me, Jack. You need to see it on your own.”
And so, by an entire entourage of guards, the two ladies, and the sons of the lady who were standing outside, I was led outside to a carriage and headed in a very familiar direction.
The way to the temporary farmland.
As we arrived, even my eyes went wide, let alone those who were already present and soaking in the marvel with their eyes.
“No one knows you made this.” Zara quietly said, getting off the carriage.
Her words were barely a whisper, but I managed to pick them up. She was political, alright. Looking at the Kale that was almost two feet in size, I was at a loss for words. The potatoes were the same, the size of a humpty dumpty, standing at almost two feet tall.
They weren’t as much as I had planted them, but combined, they made up more than what I would have gotten had they been their original size.
But that didn’t come close to the next detail. A detail perhaps even Zara wasn’t privy to.
[Kale]
[Rank: C]
[Description: A magical crop that has been raised in magically fertile soil and bathed in magical fertilizer
It has special properties of mana and nature.
Not only does it taste good, it has another surprise, good for those focused on mana]

Not just that, the potatoes were similar in quality and effects as well. The fragrance of refreshment from the Kale was spreading throughout the area.
“We need to have a long talk after this, Jack.” I heard Zara say, which only made me think one thing.
‘Damn.’
