Saul didn't really remember Yakumo from the original series. She was introduced in a filler arc that wasn't really memorable for him. Kurenai however explained on the way,

"Actually, right now we're heading to the Kurama clan mansion. Yakumo is a sickly girl; she couldn't attend the ninja academy because of it. We've had to do a bunch of work getting her physically healthy enough to begin training. But as the heiress of the strongest Genjutsu clan in Konoha, Yakumo is incredibly talented with Genjutsu!" Kurenai gave a wistful smile, "I'm sure you two will get along."

Hinata's ears perked up. Another clan Heiress? She glanced up at her Saul-kun. He was always such a kind man - especially to the mistreated. She knew this personally from her own experience; it happened with both her and Naruto after all! With Naruto-san it was no problem; he was a man. But Yakumo...?

Hinata wouldn't usually doubt her Saul-kun, but... She was doubting him precisely because she trusted him! The words he said to her earlier, "You alone are not enough to satisfy me..." They kept chiming in her head, like the dreaded ring of a funeral bell as they approached the front door. Her eyes narrowed with determination. She would make sure this 'Yakumo' got the hint if she ever tried seducing her wonderful Saul-kun!

Kurenai knocked on the door - it was quickly answered by an amicable older man. He had brown hair, brown eyes, thick eyebrows, and a moustache gap. The years had been kind to him - his face was mostly devoid of wrinkles and he stood tall and strong. A noticeably younger woman stood behind him.

With the same long brown hair and brown eyes as her father, she gazed at the trio curiously. The woman had long beautiful eyelashes, thin brows, and a tall and slender build. Her lips appeared to be glossed - a light touch that made them seem almost irresistible. Like a vase made of crystalline glass and adorned with the purest gold, Yakumo looked just as beautiful as she was delicate.

"Welcome, Jonin Yuuhi Kurenai! I'm so happy you could make it - my daughter has been extremely excited about finally being ready to learn her first Genjutsu! But I had her wait specifically for you - she deserves the best of the best after all! I see you've also brought guests?"

Kurenai scratched the back of her head embarrassedly. She still was not used to praise - as her only area of expertise was Genjutsu. "I've told you already, just Kurenai is fine, clan head Murakumo. And yes, I've brought two of my genin with me. Would you two introduce yourselves?

Saul stepped forward first to give Hinata some time to compose herself. "I'm Saul, a newly promoted Konoha genin. I'll be learning Genjutsu along with Yakumo from my Jonin instructor, it seems?"

Murakumo nodded impassively. The boy looked to share a lot of features with his clan - brown hair, partially brown eyes, and almost the splitting image of his late younger brother. If he hadn't introduced himself without a clan name - he wouldn't think anything about seeing him around the grounds. Distantly related perhaps?

"Welcome Saul - I hope you'll find your short stay with the Kurama clan like being at a second home."

This clan seemed so different from the Hyuuga! Hinata already felt a little more comfortable seeing the head's friendly demeanor. Still she decided to keep things formal to follow Saul-kun's example. He was so smart; he must've had a good reason for doing so!

"Hi... I'm Hyu- no. Just Hinata. I'm here to accompany my teammate, Saul-kun."

Murakumo's eyes slightly widened. He had heard what happened to this girl!

"I assure you the Kurama clan does not judge anyone by their strength or perceived weakness. You are welcome here as well, Hinata."

Hinata smiled. Glancing over at Yakumo, she abandoned her earlier thoughts. If her father was this considerate, surely she was a nice girl as well!

The Kurama clan was a declining clan of Konoha, one that lacked the scale of the more prominent clans like the Sarutobi, Inuzuka, or the Aburame clans. Genjutsu was frowned upon by the common populace and seen as weak to many ninja. As such their clan Head could lack the airs that most other clans would put on - giving off an approachable vibe. There was simply no need to keep such appearances.

"Follow me. I will take you to my personal training area. Today, you all should feel free to use it as you wish."

Kurenai and Hinata took off their sandals without a second thought and followed after the man. Saul - not used to the custom - took off his sandals a little later and caught up to the two.

They were led to a small cathedral. The entire area was built from stone - pillars rose up from the ground and connected with the ceiling. The windows were made from stained glass, like gemstones they scattered multicolored light onto the ground below. There were candles placed around the cathedral in multiple areas. Murakumo made a hand seal and lit one up.

"See these candles? The smoke they emit promotes concentration and chakra growth." He smiled, clearly proud. "Yakumo. Shall I really head out now? Do you need anything?"

Yakumo smiles, "That's enough Dad! I have trained so much for today! I'm absolutely ready."

Murakumo responds with a hearty laugh, "Yes Yakumo, that's the spirit! But remember, the most important thing is your health! Don't push it ok? Your first Genjutsu use can be dangerous if you're not! Your mother and I will be waiting for the good news." After those words he left the group in the study.

Yakumo turned to the Genin.

"Saul... And Hinata, right? I know my father already greeted you two, but I'd just like to say it's nice to meet you. I'm Kurama Yakumo. I am the Heiress of the Kurama clan and by the account of Kurenai sensei, harbinger to its inevitable revival!"

Kurenai laughed, "Certainly if you keep up with the hard work! With your talent, you'll be able to do anything!"

Yakumo radiated an enthusiastic, positive energy. It was hard to reconcile her with the quiet, withdrawn, and cold version seen in the series. Saul couldn't quite put his finger on what had happened, but he remembered tragedy struck due to some sort of demon.

Kurenai explained further, "The Yakumo clan has a special kekkai genkai that awakens in only a few of its members. It is said that Genjutsu cast by one with such a kekkai genkai create illusions so powerful they trick the world itself! Her kekkai genkai can break the line between reality and illusion!"

Placing her hand on Yakumo's shoulder, Kurenai continued, "This woman before you, Kurama Yakumo," The skinny brown haired girl waved with a small smile, "might one day possess the power to rewrite history!"

Saul nodded, although still slightly skeptical. If that was the case, why hadn't the Yakumo Clan become more prominent? The contrarian in him was tempted to ask this - but he decided to remain silent on the subject. It wouldn't do to make a bad first impression on the girl.

Instead he queried, "Yakumo's father mentioned the first Genjutsu use being possibly dangerous for her. Why would that be the case?"

"Well-" Kurenai started, but she was interrupted by Yakumo.

"It will be fine. There's no need to worry about superstitions, Kurenai-sensei. Can you please go ahead and teach us the Jutsu?"

Author's Note: I wrote a little more after this. However, I couldn't find a suitable ending spot, so I instead decided to leave you guys with a cliffhanger of sorts XD

Hope you all enjoyed the ch!
