A few months later;
It has been a few months since Akari and her daughter settled in Konoha. They have been adapting nicely to their new environment.
Akari's health has improved with proper nutrition and rest. Now she is attending classes to prepare for working in the hospital. She didn't want to be a burden on Naruto and Tsunade, so she asked for work. Knowing that Akari has a strong affinity for Yang chakra, they enrolled her in a hospital class to become a medic.
Tsunade and Naruto have told her not to tell anyone about her healing bite or show it to anyone. Her strong yang chakra will help her become a very good medic. She can use proper medical jutsu for healing and never show her ability to heal through bites.
Akati has also adored Mito since she saw her, especially after learning that she is Kushina's daughter. And when she asked who the father was, Naruto asked her to let go of that subject, as it is quite a sensitive topic to discuss.
And when she asked him if Mito knew about her parents, Naruto replied that, for now, she didn't know. He told Akari that he would tell Mito when she is a genin or if she found out somehow.
Right now, Naruto is walking inside the Hokage building, walking towards the Jonin meeting hall. The Sandaime Hokage called for a jonin meeting to discuss something urgent.
It was Naruto's first Jonin meeting, and he was told by Hiruzen to attend the meeting in his Jonin attire.
As he reached the meeting hall, He pushed the door open and went inside. As he entered, a lot of eyes fell on him, sizing him up. Naruto is the youngest person to attain the rank of jonin, so, normally, many of the jonin present look at him with skepticism.
Naruto's eyes scanned the jonin present, spotting all the clan heads present, his mother standing among them. He also spotted a lot of Jonin he hadn't seen before. And at the corner of the hall, he found the jonin he was most familiar with, standing together.
Standing there were Kakashi and Guy, so Naruto walked towards them. He knew that there are other Jonin in the village that aren't present due to them being on mission or have sensitive identities. Like Tenzo and Reiko(Pakura).
"Hello Kakashi-san, Guy-sensei." Naruto greeted with a polite smile.
"Hello, my youthful student. I can believe my first student is already a Jonin." Guy said dramatically with tears streaming down his face. Kakashi just nodded, returning the greeting.
"Do you know what this is about?" Kakashi asked with a blank tone.
"I don't know. Sensei told me to attend the meeting, and that is it." Naruto replied simply.
The three stood in silence after that, waiting for a couple of minutes. Then the door opened again, revealing the third Hokage, followed by his two advisors. Upon seeing the Hokage enter, the Jonin straightened up, and those who were sitting stood up.
"Good morning, everyone. Take a seat, we have a lot to discuss." Hiruzen said as he took his seat overlooking the Jonin, with Koharu and Homura sitting on each side of his seat.
The Jonin hurried to take their seats, with Tsunade and the clan heads sitting in the front. Naruto sat on a seat next to his mother's right side.
And for the next hour or so, different topics were discussed—political, military, missions, fund allocation, and village security.
Naruto sat there quietly, listening without saying anything. To him, this is a learning experience to see how the village is run and how its higher officials communicate with one another.
"The last thing that I need to tell you all and the main reason for this meeting," Hiruzen said in a serious tone, drawing everyone's attention.
"I received a message from Kumo about their intention to discuss a peace treaty," Hiruzen said, making a lot of those present stunned with disbelief.
"Impossible." One Jonin muttered, but the silence made him heard.
"That has to be a trap." Another said
"I would believe that the fourth ninja war started, rather than think that Kumo wants to initiate a peace treaty." Another muttered.
"Yeah. You can't forget the last time we tried to make a treaty with them. We lost the Nidaime Hokage." Said another.
"Enough," Hiruzen said in a raised voice, making the muttering stop.
He can understand their skepticism. Kumo isn't known to be the one who offers peace. He would know that very well, as they were the cause that made him take the Hokage seat.
"The envoy from Kumo is going to arrive here in a week. Until then, I want most of you to be present in the village. So, no missions outside the village until we see what the deal is with Kumo." Hiruzen said, making most of those present nod.
"This meeting is adjourned. Get back to your duties." Hiruzen said, ending the meeting as he stood up.
"Kakashi, Naruto. Walk with me." Hiruzen said as he walked towards the exit.
"See you later, mum," Naruto whispered to Tsunade, who nodded, before following Hiruzen along with Kakashi.
"So, what do you think about Kumo's intentions, Naruto-kun?" Hiruzen asked as he walked towards his office with Kakashi and Naruto following him.
Naruto was surprised by the question. He glanced to his side towards Kakashi, who gave him a shrug as they continued walking.
"To be honest, sensei, I don't think this is about a treaty at all," Naruto said with an even tone
"Oh. How so?" Hiruzen inquired.
"The whole treaty thing seems fishy. Our relationship with Kumo hasn't changed since the end of the war. Aside from the usual small border clashes and the Chunin exams, there is nothing that suggests a sudden discussion for a peace treaty, especially one initiated by Kumo, who are known for their hardheadedness. Maybe I am reading too much into the situation, and it is really a peace treaty. But I can't help but be suspicious about the motive and the timing, and if it is really a peace treaty, what do they want in return?" Naruto replied with a blank tone.
"Hahhhhh. Whatever their intention are, we should be ready. I just hope it is a peace treaty." Hiruzen sighed as they reached the Hokage office door, before Hiruzen turned to look at Kakashi and Naruto.
"To be on the safe side. When the envoy arrives, Kakashi, I am assigning you and your team to guard the library, especially the Jutsu section. Naruto, your team is assigned to guard and monitor the Clans' residential area. Keep your eyes peeled for any unusual activity and authorized personnel." Hiruzen said
"Yes, Hokage-sama." Kakashi and Naruto replied.
"Good, then return to your duties," Hiruzen said as he turned towards his office door while Kakashi and Naruto bowed slightly before turning around to leave.
To be continued.
