New World, New Life: I Became A Bigshot In The Ancient World
Chapter 264: ANNOYED PIXIE
CHAPTER 264: ANNOYED PIXIE
"But... you’re human." Evaleen said.
Aristia froze at those words. "How... how do you know that?"
Evaleen’s brows lowered at her words and she shrugged. "We just can tell. Must be because of the scent." She answered.
Aristia’s brows twitched. That meant that Evaleen’s parents knew that she wasn’t human, and possibly every other mythical creature she had passed.
"I need to return home." She suddenly remembered that her family would definitely be searching for her.
If the time here was the same as back in Orrivale, then quite a long time had passed.
Evaleen nodded. "Oh... Okay. So... Can you tell me where you are from?"
Aristia asked Millie first before responding. ’Should I tell her?’
’I guess it’s all right to do so.’ Millie replied.
Aristia turned to Evaleen."I am from Amberale."
"Hmm... Amberale. Okay."
"Where is this place?" Aristia asked in return. "Like I said earlier, I got lost in the forest. I don’t know where I am. Actually, I saw you and your mother flying past in the forest. I followed the direction you went in and saw myself in this village."
"This is Dewfield."
"Oh." Aristia nodded. "It was nice meeting you, Evaleen. Maybe I’ll see you someday."
"It was nice meeting you too, Aristia. Then goodbye."
"Goodbye." Aristia waved, turning and leaving the way she came with Millie.
Just as she had gone a bit of a distance.
Behind her, somebody was running towards Evaleen.
"Eva!"
Evaleen was a bit startled. She turned around with a scowl, seeing someone waving loudly.
"Ugh!" She rolled her eyes with her hands on her hips. "What is it, Fern?"
Fern stopped and pouted.
"Eva, I just found the magic stone you were looking for."
Evaleen’s face turned surprised and her eyes lit up. "Really? Show me!" Then she frowned, eying Fern suspiciously. "You better not be messing with me, troll." She warned.
Fern shook his head. "When have I ever? You also made me the fire orb. I’m not lying to you." Fern said. His gaze moved behind Evaleen, only to see a girl who looked about their age going in the distance.
He narrowed his eyes. Her back looked a bit familiar, but he couldn’t tell for sure from this distance. He also couldn’t remember where he could have met her.
He turned to Evaleen. "Who’s that?"
"Who?" Evaleen followed his pointed finger, her eyes landing on Aristia and she smiled. "Her? She’s my new friend. Now show me the stone."
"New friend." Fern grumbled. Then looked up to see her glaring at him.
"Okay, okay. Sheesh, you’re so impatient."
Meanwhile, Aristia was unaware of the newcomer troll. If she had seen him, she would have recognized him as the troll that had shot fireballs at her when she partially unlocked the chains holding Millie. Especially his pointed shoes.
She and Millie had finally reached the forest. They entered the forest, going to the river.
On their way, Aristia saw all kinds of strange animals— squirrels with long rat tails, rabbits with deer antlers etc.
Pixies flew past her and one even bumped into her. She rubbed her tiny nose, looking offended and pained.
Aristia gently grabbed her and patted her nose.
[She must be the clumsy pixie in the group.] She thought, amused.
The pixie looked at her with surprise, then flew to her forehead and placed a kiss on it, before scurrying away to join her crowd.
"Heh," Aristia chuckled, rubbing her forehead. It was slightly ticklish.
She and Millie finally arrived at the river.
"Okay, Millie. Time to go home."
Millie nodded.
Aristia took off her shoes.
"What are you doing?" Millie asked, tilting her head in confusion.
"I don’t know. I just felt like it." Aristia smiled cheekily. She held her shoes in one hand and picked Millie up with the other, then walked to the edge of the water.
She stared at the water for a second before dipping her toes in, feeling the water’s temperature. It was cool.
’Get ready, Millie.’ She said inwardly, taking in a huge breath of air.
The next second, she jumped into the water.
Splash!
As soon as she was in the water, she opened her eyes. Her hair floated up in the water. The water felt a bit warm.
[I hope this works.] She thought.
The water dragged her down once again and she was turned upside down.
When her head finally came out of the water, she saw she was now back in the familiar forest.
[Thank God.] Aristia thought, relieved.
She released Millie, swimming to the edge and coming out of the water and falling on the dry land.
Plop!
"Phew," she released a breath.
Millie also got out of the water.
"Princess!"
"Princess!"
"Princess!"
She heard loud voices calling her name from far away.
She turned her head towards the direction of the sounds. It was way past the river.
It looked like the people looking for her had already searched this part of the forest for her and had headed deeper in when they hadn’t seen her.
"Mama! Papa!" She yelled.
"Mama! Papa! Al! Linny!"
She ran her hand through her wet hair, only for her hand to freeze.
Her hair that was supposed to be wet from just coming out of the water was... shockingly dry.
Slowly, her gaze landed on her clothes and Millie. No one would know that she had even been inside the water.
Her eyes opened wide in surprise.
"I’m dry? You’re dry too, Millie." She whispered.
"You only just noticed?" Millie asked.
[How is this possible? Could it be that pixie?] Aristia thought.
But now wasn’t the time to worry about that.
She quickly looked around, hearing the sound of rapidly approaching footsteps from far away.
Her eyes stopped on a bush large enough to cover her form behind it.
She quickly walked to it.
Coincidentally, there was a sizeable rock in front of it.
She looked at Millie, and her daemon seemed to understand what she wanted to do.
