CHAPTER 220: A GOOD MORNING

"Mmmn.." Coco slowly woke up, her body starting to stir as her consciousness returned.

She lay still for a moment, her mind gradually becoming more clear as she woke up, her thoughts becoming more focused.

Her eyes were still closed, her eyelashes fluttering as she tried to fight off the drowsiness that lingered on her system, taking a deep breath, her lungs filling with air as she tried to wake herself up.

Coco’s eyes slowly opened as she rose from sleep, her hair was a mess, tangled and messy from tossing and turning during the night, the dark locks falling in front of her face and obstructing her view.

Her eyes slowly came into focus, her vision adjusting to the soft light filtering through the curtains, and pushed herself up into a sitting position, her body sore and tired.

"Good morning, Coco.." The garden fairy greeted her, voice laced with sleep and exhaustion.

Coco blinked slowly as she looked around the room, her gaze slowly taking in her surroundings, the sleep in her system still lingering, making her mind blank.

The room was, as usual, small, the walls painted a soft shade of grey that created a calming atmosphere—

Wait.. Grey? Coco’s eyes went wide, the sleep in her system getting thrown out of the window as she became aware that she was not in her own room, the unfamiliar surroundings jarring her senses.

The bed she had woken up in was simple, the sheets is white and soft and comfortable, her body still warm from having been tucked under them.

There was a small window located in the far wall, the same window that has the blinds open to let in the morning light.

A single chair was pushed against the wall, the surface dusted with a small amount of dust— a telltale sign that the room she was in wasn’t supposed to be in use.

Coco looked around the room, her heart rate quickening as she realized she was in an unfamiliar environment.

The room was obviously not her own in the Red Horse Inn, the furniture and decoration all wrong with the curtains, furniture, and walls different from the ones she remembered.

The air also smelled different, the scents are familiar to her nose, but it’s not the scent she has in her room.

She sat upright in the bed, her body tense and alert, her mind racing as she took in the details of the room, trying to make sense of her situation.

How had she gotten here? Where was this place? Why was she in an unfamiliar room? What happened last night? What happened to the celebration in the pub? Didn’t she went back to her room after excusing herself—

"I’m so tired.. That man sure knows how to make a fairy like me exhausted with his childish antics." Lala mumbled, whining about what happened the night before.

Oh, yeah.. Coco blinked, her shoulders relaxing as the tension and alert in her body melted away.

I walked the four husbands home because it was getting late.. Zaque drank a lot last night and got upset when I said that I have to back. Coco raised a hand and massaged the bridge of her nose.

The memory of Zaque downing several shots flashed in Coco’s mind, his face flushed with red and his eyes were glassy, half-closed and hazy.

He had too much fun and was stumbling, swaying, and slurring his words, incomprehensible and incoherent slipping past his pink lips as he attached himself to Coco’s body, his arms wrapped tight around her shoulders.

His clothes were partially unbuttoned and untucked with his red hair as messy as it could be.

She walked the four mediators home to ensure that they will get to the house safe and sound, but in exchange, she can’t walk back to the inn because of a certain mediator who wouldn’t let her walk out of the door.

Quizen and Heiren had no choice, but clean this room to make me and Lala sleep here. Coco added to her previous train of thoughts, sighing heavily.

"And where would our wife go at this late hour?! Clean her room! I’ll put her to bed myshelf!"

Those were the exact words of a drunk Zaque who could barely keep himself on his toes, pointing an accusing finger towards the second and fourth husband.

Coco let out a tired sigh and got off the bed, her gaze shifting away from bed to the door.

The sun is already out, but she didn’t feel the need to rush to get out of the village, opting to take her time to make herself presentable before she exited the room.

Of course, she didn’t leave the room with a messy bed.

She made sure to fold the sheets and the blanket, stacking them on top of each other and placing them on top of the pillow— putting them on the corner of the bed so whoever has to wash them, wouldn’t have a hard time getting them.

Coco opened the door and stepped out, her eyes scanning the room for any mess that she could have missed, not wanting to cause any inconvenience to the four mediators.

"Oh, great." Lala groaned, making Coco hum and snap her attention to the fairy.

Coco’s eyebrows shot up when she saw what caused Lala to sound like she was already done before the day could start, a chuckle leaving her throat.

The room of the previous Coco Hughes was at the end of the hall where Zaque’s and Heiren’s room are on the left while Alhai’s room and Quizen’s room are on the right, and in front of Alhai’s room stood a frowning Alhai.

Coco hummed and decided to shoot him a friendly smile, but Alhai’s teal eyes were already narrowed into a glare which doesn’t help much to ease the tension between them.

Coco cleared her throat and started making her way to the staircase, just smiling at Alhai instead of greeting him.

What a morning..
