CHAPTER 320: SKILLS? [2]

Quizen watched as Coco continued to grumble under her breath something related to skills and uselessness.

"I should have learned how to deem things useless." Coco groaned, her eyebrows furrowed in frustration as she stared at something in front of her, "But my dearest mother raised a good lady so I can’t do that."

Quizen heard what Coco said, making the corner of his lips turn up.

It’s rare for Coco to mention anyone where she originally came from so hearing her speak about her birth mother made Quizen feel special.

Surely, Zaque has not yet heard anything about Coco’s former family, right?

"Coco, eat the sandwich in your hand." Quizen called out to his wife, voice soft and tone lighthearted as he chastised the woman, "I get that you’re busy right now, but you shouldn’t waste good food like that, okay?"

Coco let Zaque hover around her because he was soft and gentle with her, right? He can do the same thing as Zaque so he’ll be able to hover around Coco, too.

Coco flinched, realizing that she had forgotten about the sandwich in her hand.

She looked down at the sandwich which was still there, but now slightly squished from her holding it tightly because she was frustrated with the description of [Fool’s Gold].

Her mind had been so absorbed in the skill scroll that she had overlooked the simple task of eating.

Coco sighed, her expression contorting into a frown. "Forgive me, Quizen. You even made me a sandwich, and I just... I’ll eat it, don’t worry. Thanks again."

Her voice was filled with a mixture of guilt and appreciation because Coco knew that she had been preoccupied, neglecting the kind gesture— that probably won’t happen again given Quizen’s nature— and even squished the sandwich to death.

She took a bite of the squished sandwich, savoring the taste of strawberry jam in the bread, appreciating Quizen’s thoughtfulness even in the midst of her self-inflicted frustration.

"Mama would be so mad at me if she knew I mistreated a good food like this." Coco mumbled, munching on the sandwich bite.

Quizen briefly stopped what he was doing and raised an eyebrow, his expression calm.

"I’m not mad." He reassured Coco, his voice soft and firm, sensing that she was about to grumble once more, but about herself this time.

"Just so you know." Quizen added, attempting to reassure her that her forgetfulness had not bothered him because knew that Coco had been consumed by the skill she was fussing over which was important so he didn’t harbor any anger towards her.

Although, he did find it endearing that Coco was getting worked up like this over a simple sandwich that he made.

"Thank you." Coco gave Quizen a grateful smile, acknowledging his reassurance, "I really appreciate it. My mother would have my head if I did this to her."

Coco’s eyes then darted back to the scroll in front of her, her attention briefly shifting back to the remaining skill waiting to be explored as she took another bite of the squished sandwich, her mind beginning to ponder the possibilities and limitations of the skills bestowed upon her.

The quill appeared once more, hovering in the air and waiting for Coco’s attention.

Coco, her focus still on the scroll, grabbed the quill with her free hand and encircled the second skill, which she was not yet aware of its existence until now.

The quill’s movement was precise, tracing an invisible line around the skill’s description, before the second skill’s details began to take shape, the words rearranging to form the next skill’s description once again.

[ Duplicate (1):

Duplicate, in this variation, is an ability that strictly duplicates only the things and items that the user has personally made, crafted, or created.

This means that if the user has made a particular item, such as a sword or a musical instrument or grown something themselves— they can duplicate it, creating an exact identical replica of the original.

However, the user cannot duplicate items they did not create or grow.

This ability is highly specialized and can be advantageous when the user has knowledge and skills in crafting or manufacturing valuable items so it is advisable to be flexible in terms of learning. ]

Coco read the skill, her eyes blank and unblinking, feeling unamused again.

"Great." She scoffed and finished the last bit of the sandwich quite aggressively, "Another skill that should be useful, but would be useless on me because I know nothing."

However, as Coco stared at the scroll, she suddenly brightened up, a smile spreading across her face as an idea came to mind.

"Wait a second—" She murmured, her voice filled with a mix of excitement and curiosity, a spark of inspiration had ignited in her eyes, and her thoughts now raced with possibilities.

The skill may not have impressed her before, but now she saw potential in it, and her mind was abuzz with ideas on how to make the most out of it— something that will make her earn more money!

So, Coco started mumbling to herself, a plan slowly forming in her mind.

"Since the skill said I can duplicate something I grew myself." She said, her voice filled with excitement. "I can just use it on fruits and vegetables I will be growing myself in the future."

Her words held so much enthusiasm that she was practically vibrating against the sleeping farming rabbit, realizing that she could grow her own supply of goods to duplicate, creating a near-unlimited source of certain items.

It seemed like a clever workaround for the skill’s limitations, right? Not only that, she can start planting fruits and vegetables at the back of the house to start leveling her skill.

Once the fruits and vegetables are ready to harvest, she can use the skill, [Duplicate], to ensure that she would be able to have enough to sell to vendors in the shopping district, then leave some at home!

"That should work!" Coco huffed to herself, feeling proud.
