CHAPTER 436: MISSION

Once again, another dinner was done and this time, the four husbands and Coco stayed inside the kitchen with the two guests excusing themselves from the table.

Heiren had placed a cup steaming with hot chocolate in front of Coco to make sure that she would stay.

Of course, Coco doesn’t know this.

She merely said to her husbands that she needed to talk to them after dinner, but the mediators were afraid that if she were to be brought to another room with them— one of them would act out like Alhai did.

"Thank you." Coco hummed, smiling softly as she took a whiff of the chocolatey drink.

Heiren stared at her for a moment before he nodded his head and turned away, opting to go beside Zaque to help him put the clean dishes away.

Zaque and Heiren worked silently together while Alhai worked alone on cleaning the countertops with Quizen storing the other dishes and pot on the cabinets where Zaque told them to be put on their first day in the house.

Coco was quiet as she took a sip, just minding her own business while watching Lala munch on her cookie.

Coco appreciates the fact that Heiren goes out of his way to make Lala good food and Zaque bakes her small sized cookies so she wouldn’t have trouble eating them.

Actually, she appreciates everyone doing their best to accommodate her and Lala.

She wanted to go to the main city to get her license as a hunter, but the husbands came with her because they wanted to make sure that she would be fine on her own.

Not to mention..

They’re also working now so they can help with money, right? Coco thought, feeling incredibly happy at the idea of the mediators finding what they want to do in their life.

With the three of the husbands working on the respected places that they chose on their own, Coco couldn’t help, but feel proud of them for taking a first step to get out of their comfort zone.

So.. What she wanted to talk to them about must be done now rather than later.

"I want to discuss something very important to all of you." Coco spoke up and placed her cup down on the table, her gaze glued to the dark liquid inside.

"You can continue doing what you’re doing, but please listen to what I have to say." She stated, flickering her attention to Zaque’s back, then to Heiren’s, before going to Quizen’s, and finally settling on Alhai’s.

"I received a mission." She started, her fingers circling around the cup and fidgeting on the handle. "It’s a mission for all of you.. Finding a new wife."

Like clockwork, the four of them stopped what they were doing.

"I have a time limit of.. Two months? Two months and a half..? I’m not really sure, but I don’t want to open the quest scrolls anymore." Coco mumbled, pursing her lips and pausing for a moment.

"But it was stated on the mission that I must help all of you find a new love.. One way or another." Coco finished, a small smile creeping to her lips.

Now that she said the words aloud, she felt like there was a hole punctured inside her heart.

She felt.. Strangely hollow.

With this information, the four mediators would soon help her with her mission, right?

On the other hand..

Zaque froze on washing the dishes with clean, running water from the faucet after what he heard from the person he had grown to like.

Find new love? He repeated in his mind, a frown appearing on his handsome face.

But I already like Coco.. She’s enough for me, isn’t she? Why does she have to receive a mission like that..? Zaque asked himself, his grip on the plate tightening.

"Well, I don’t know about you, but I’ve already said that I like you." Came a blunt statement from the third husband.

"Yeah.. I don’t count—"

"I don’t care." Alhai mused, cutting Coco off and turned around to shoot a glare on Coco’s way. "I like you and no one else, end of mission."

Coco simply nodded her head in understanding, but wished that it’s that easy to finish the quest.

However, she received no notification of her clearing the quest so she’s really out of question and not counted as "new" love or whatnot..

.. Right?

Coco bit her lower lip and felt like she was walking between a tightrope, her heart hammering quite heavily on her chest.

The thought of her not being counted as a new love for any of them somehow hurts and upsetting because why can’t she be one?

It doesn’t matter. Coco thought and shook her head.

I have to clear the mission whether I feel fine with it or not.. She continued and tightened her grip on the cup, the corner of her lips twitching downwards.

"So.. What does this mission want you to do except for helping us find new love.." Zaque spoke up, whipping his head around to look Coco in the eyes, only for his breath to get caught in his throat.

"Coco?" He called in panic, washing his hands in a hurry.

Upon hearing the panic in Zaque’s voice, the rest of the husbands turned around to look at their wife.

"I’m sorry.. I don’t know." Coco croaked out, her line of sight blurry for some reason. "I didn’t look at the quest after I received it so I don’t know much about it.."

Quizen was the first one to put down what he was holding and rushed to Coco, immediately kneeling beside her.

"Hey, hey, hey.." The mediator called and gently guided Coco’s head to turn his way with his palm resting on her cheek. "It’s okay, Coco.. You don’t have to force yourself to remember or to look at it, alright?"

"But.. I have to." Coco mumbled.

"You don’t have to." Quizen insisted and swiped his thumb under her eyes, wiping her tears away.
